I shared last blog post how excited I was that my mom was in town. The girls went back to school today giving my mom and I some time to go shopping at one of our favorite spots. I brought my camera along and snapped some pictures of things that inspired me. From succulents, fall colors, bees, dishes, cutting boards, smells and food…always food. It was a perfect September day, the weather was breezy and about 72 degrees. We even tried “the best cookies” in Connecticut. Come see what inspired us and where to find the best cookies in YOUR state!
Beach House Tour and Retro Kitchen
We were invited us to this beach house that our friends stay at every summer for a week in East Haven, Connecticut. It is about a 45 minute drive my my home. Last year when I went I was pleasantly surprised at how charming it was! I knew this year I would make sure to take the big camera to some pictures to remember it and to share with all of you. You will love the kitchen!
Favorite Birth Announcement
With Instagram and Facebook it made me question if birth announcements are a thing of the past? Like writing letters. But there is something about getting an actual birth announcement in the mailSince I can’t send a birth announcement to all of my readers in the mail. I thought I would share it here with you and what I wrote on the back. Thank you for helping us welcome Finn into this world!
Finns Birth Story
I don’t know why I have been dragging my feet on writing about Finn’s birth. It seems so fresh still. It was a long labor, emotional, hard and yet on April 24th it was one of the third happiest days of our lives. We got what we had been praying for, a little baby, straight from Heaven. Here is the story of his birth.
Favorite Things in April
I get asked often on my Instagram account if we own a TV. We actually do, we have one in our family room upstairs. They girls normally watch maybe a 20 minute show a day. We just aren’t in the habit of watching it. We love music on and creating. I thought I would share some of things my girls have been loving this past month and a few things I love too. Hopefully to inspire more creativity in the home and also great gift ideas.
Getting ready for Guests
We have a lot of family and friends in Utah. We are currently living in Connecticut and have been for almost a year and a half. We are lucky enough to get a lot of visitors. We live about an hour away from New York, so we have had a few friends who had a trip to New York planned and made sure to stop and see us or we got to pretend to be a little Bed and Breakfast. This is how I get our home ready for guests and a little peek into our babies nursery that doubles as a space for guests.
Adding Purpose and Style to your home
Great to be Eight
Ella has made the choice to be baptized into our church. I wanted to get her a very nice baptism dress, with the hopes to have our other daughter, Lola wear it when she is baptized. We went and took pictures right after church one day. We stopped down the road from our home at an old historical church built in the late 1800’s and homes dating back to 1700’s! This pictures will be a great memory of living in Connecticut and celebrating this special time for Ella.
Favorite Birthday Traditions and Crepes
Our oldest daughter just turned 8! The day before her birthday she kept asking “what time is it?” I would ask why are you so worried about the time? She said “because I want it to be time for bed so I can wake up and be 8!” She hardly said two words about what gift she wanted, she just wanted to be 8. It was so cute. I wanted to make the day extra special since she was so excited. My husband was out of town for work, and we had already went to her school and took her lunch, read a couple of books to her class and they also did an extra recess instead of allowing treats, I LOVE this idea. So for her birthday she requested crepes for breakfast and brownies and ice-cream instead of cake. I always ask them what they want for their meals and dessert.
