Friday Favorites starts with Wreaths and a Sconce
My Suggestions-
Oh my goodness! You are almost there with this room! Love the pieces you have. If I were you I would flip my leather sectional to the opening where your chair is. You might need to push the chaise close to the wall. This would help to define the space. And not block your bookcases and also not feel so heavy on the bookcase side of the room.
Also for your bookcases since they are so low. I would keep it simple and fill them with baskets on the lowest shelf. I am sure you can find the perfect baskets to fit inside there. Look online! And the books you have are great- just mix in baskets with them.
For chairs I would check out WEST ELM they have 20% off everything this weekend! I thought THESE would look great in your space or THIS.

Friday Favorites starts with Target Tops and Warm vs Cool Lightbulbs
Yay! It is Friday! My sister flew in from Utah for the weekend to hang out and help me with the kids. My husband has been out of town for three weeks, so it will be a nice break for me. Today I shared TWO different examples of lightbulbs in our kitchen and in a readers bedroom- I love this topic! Please head to my blog post to tell me what lightbulb you prefer. Also shared some finds from Target. Head to todays post HERE.
Answering one of your design questions today! (I will let you know when I am taking more).
DESIGN QUESTION-
Friday Favorites starts with Bathroom Storage Solution
I am answering a couple design questions (I am late on getting back to!). Let me know if you like seeing design questions answered this way??
You can head right to my Friday Favorites today HERE– talking about a bathroom solution, new art, a book we love and more!
Design Question-
Friday Favorites start with the small things that add up to GREAT things
Hello!
I wanted to start answering some of your design questions in this email format (I am playing catch up, so if I haven’t gotten to you yet, I will! I am also not taking any new questions at this time, need to catch up.)
This question came from Kerri. She wanted ideas for her fireplace and I think tomorrows blog post will help her and I will address more then. I have my friends fireplace to share with you and the woven woods shades I ordered for her came in yesterday and now I can show that too ( you will love it!). Stay tuned tomorrow!
I did suggest that Kerri move her sofa where the chairs are now. We talked in our Facebook Live last night about creating a focal point. So if your focal point is the fireplace (and it should be in this room) then her sofa should face it. All things should focus on the focal point. Also the sofa moved will define the two spaces and not be so many chairs with the dining chairs.
Hope that helps more than just Kerri!
Pop over to see my Friday Favorites- sharing all the small new things I got and have had SO many questions on Instagram where they came from. I also have a small little design challenge for you! Head to the post HERE.
Friday Favorites starts with Tips for good Family Pictures on Vacation
We have been on vacation all week in Orlando Florida! Kevin travels a lot for work in February so it was nice to get together before the crazy begins. And it was part of our kids Christmas Gift- we love to give and get experiences as gifts. Do you??
While we were on vacation I learned a thing or too about having strangers take our family picture- I shared a couple examples of a bad picture someone took and a good one! Hopefully you find it helpful.
Also shared some of my favorite things from the week- a new lightbulb that shouldn’t make me as happy as it does (especially while we are away from home!), a fun garland, sunglasses, a good faux fiddle leaf tree and more!
See it all HERE
Friday Favorites- starts with Questions in our Kitchen
Answering some of the most asked questions I got for the week today!
Here is a little glimpse- Do we like our butcher block countertops? Where are your cutting boards from? Where is that mustard dress from?? (0ver 50 people asked that one), what its the plant by my sink, what article on happiness did you read, about blogging and more!
One of my goals for the year was to share more videos. You might have noticed them at the end of the last couple blog posts. I thought it would be another way for you to understand what I am trying to share in a blog post. Nothing super fancy or perfect. If you know me, I try not to let PERFECT be the enemy of good. If I was too concerned with my home being perfect, my blog or me than I would be paralyzed by that and not share anything. I hope you remember that too. It is better to try something and learn from it rather than not try it at all. Today I shared a braid tutorial (odd right?!) on Instagram I got a lot of questions on how I did a braid so I shared it! I want to share what YOU want to see in the hopes it will add to your life, never take away.
I had a reader point out that the new sconce above our window was not centered (that I shared on the blog yesterday). I didn’t see Kevin hang it (just thankful he did!) not sure if he measured, but I eyeball a lot of things too. SO make sure to measure….learn from my mistake! But also if something is not perfect in your home, that is OK. Don’t feel stupid (like I did) there are a lot worse things in life than a not perfectly centered sconce.

Friday Favorites- Starts with a Dark to Light Family Room Refresh
If you are new to my blog, welcome! I share my “Favorite Things” from the week every Friday. I love this post because it is pretty random. I can talk about a favorite Podcast I listened to about Happiness, a new shirt I got and share a little room refresh! Just whatever made me excited or happy that I think will do the same for you!
Right now I feel like there are so many things I want to share on my blog. Ideas I have taken from your comments help so much. So if there is something you want to see on my blog just reply to this email! Easy as that.
I will be back next week to answer your design questions for my series “Ask a Designer” and tutorials from the nursery post I shared yesterday.
For today’s post, below is the BEFORE of a room I gave a little refresh to while we were in Utah. If you are looking for ways to lighten up your home or looking for the best knitted winter pillow on clearance you will love the AFTER!
Friday Favorites starts with Easy Tips to refresh your Christmas Mantel
Are you sick of me yet? I have considered changing my email newsletters to go out only once a week. But then I would feel like I would miss this chance to talk to you! I really love connecting with you in this way.
#1- There is a Friday Favorites on the blog today- it’s a quick one. I shared the AFTER of the photo below, a little refresh I did to a friends fireplace and front room. I broke it down on the steps I took to get to the finished look! And a gift guide for HIM!
#2– We did go back out to drop off more notes and visit more homes (from yesterdays post). My girls were so energized afterwards. One lady teared up and said “You stopped by just for this?” I think she thought we were selling wrapping paper or something. Lola bounced away and said “I feel so good when we do this”!
#3– I am going to share our Christmas Cards tomorrow and A LOT of ideas on how to display your Christmas Cards. I asked over on Instagram for pictures. But I wanted to ask here too. If you have a unique idea or really love what you did with your Christmas Cards this year just reply to this email and attach a photo! I might share it!

Friday Favorites starts with a trip to Target- Hearth and Hand
So many new friends getting this email today! Welcome!
Every Friday I share my favorite things from the week. It is a reader favorite and mine too because it is really casual. Today I shared what I bought at Target from the Hearth and Hand Collection (and pictures of it in my house), answered one “Ask a Designer” question and more!
Also I shared an inspiration pic for a closet we want to change up. I didn’t share this pic on my blog but wanted to share it with just my email subscribers. It is actually a really deep closet. Head to my blog to see what I want to do with it!
Friday Favorites starts with a little Fall and Small Space Living
Happy Friday! Today I shared a little interview I did about small space living. So I thought it would be fitting to share a pic just with my email subscribers that I snapped when my family was visiting…7 of us squeezed around our little banquette and I think we could squeeze in one more (Kevin was out of town). We make it work! And we even had beds for my three extra family members.
I also shared some of my favorite furniture that is 40% off! A shirt I snagged from Gap that is all 40% off for their Friends and Family Sale. Oh and I book I am loving reading with my girls right now…
Hope you pop over!
