I shared all of my favorite things that we own or I am buying today with the Amazon Prime Day. New LED string light that are shatter proof that we just installed in my mom’s backyard (I am sold on those!) Black-out curtains for an amazing deal $26 for 96″ long! Pantry Storage Containers (that are square top, space saver!) Check it all out HERE
The topic came up in our Nesting with Grace Facebook Group about how to mix metals. I shared my tips and some examples of how it can be done. An easy starting point! You can apply these tips to a bathroom too.
We also got a new sink faucet and I shared more about that, a good reference if you are in the market!

You are doing a lot right! Your curtains are great! The rug is also a good size. I can suggest a couple of things
- Move the mirror that is on that skinny wall. It is too big for that wall. I would suggest it on the wall behind the door, but it is the same oval shape as the glass. You might need to take it out if the room and you already have the other mirrors. When you hang art above a piece of furniture you want it to be smaller than the furniture– right now it is very top heavy. I would personally take out that furniture piece on the skinny wall and do something narrow behind the door with a piece of art above it- it will create an entry piece.
- I would turn those tall vertical mirrors so they are hanging horizontal and much closer together. They are too far apart and in order to get the cozy feel you need to grouped with something– so I would start the bottom more in the middle of the lamp.
- I would turn the chair by the sofa straight on and move the side table over on the other side of the chair.
- Then you can slide the sofa down further on the wall a little so it isn’t on the edge of the wall.
- Love the idea of the sconces on either side of the map!
- The clock needs to be lower also- about 5-6″ lower. Again this will make it super cozy.
Hope that helps you and maybe gives others an idea for their home.
You too can email me a design question and I will answer it in this format!

DESIGN QUESTION (from one of YOU!)-
I had to share because Target has most of our back deck furniture pieces on SALE (ends today, Saturday). I also found some new pieces I bought to mix in, including a really cute black and white check umbrella. And I went to my friends Annie’s house and so many of you wanted to know where her planters were from. I shared where she bought them then I also found a more affordable option on SALE (ends today too). Read the post HERE.
(PS- here house number are like mine, found mine at Home Depot! And she got that purple plant, called Heather at Home Depot too.)
I also have a blog post up all about my major finds from IKEA! I really was missing out on some pieces. I shared a video I took when I was shopping in the store too. It must have been a really good time to go to IKEA because I have never seen so much that I liked! Read that post HERE.
You can see how I organized this messy drawer….
and this entry closet…

“Hi! My name is Karla Montero and would love to have you advice on my living area. My house doesn’t feel cozy or like home even that we’ve lived here for two years. Please help me !!! Please help me make this spot beautiful.”
You have done a good job so far! You have a rug, plants and your tv is hung the right height! I would say the #1 thing you could do is to add window treatments. I shared on todays blog post my favorite IKEA curtain panels. But if I were you I would remove the wood blinds and add some bamboo shades. It is crazy how much that changes the look. Below is an example… (I would also remove the round medallion that is between your windows because your rod will be too close to it if you hang curtains).
You can read my other tips on how to create a cozy home HERE! Hope that helps!!
Happy Presidents Day! I have a fun blog post about Mixing Pillow Patterns and Colors. I shared several pillows combos and my “Pillow Rules”! Hope it helps! Read the post HERE
“I need help with the layout of this room. Currently thinking of buying a lighter sofa and side chair and eliminating the sofa & loveseat if that would help with layout better. Thank you so much! I have learned so much from your instagram & fb group” -Brooke McBride
Really I think your layout is great. If you were to change to a chair I think it would feel off balance because of the large windows. You want something substantial on that side of the room under the tall windows. What about doing a sectional? Then you could leave your recliner chair there too. Also if you go with a lighter sofa/sectional keep in mind the color of your rug if you want to keep it. I like the pops of white with the cream rug- but if your new sofa is cream the rug will have to change. You have done really well so far!!

Hi! I missed you the past two days! We flew to Utah to be with family for Christmas. Our girls were counting down the seconds to get on the plane. Both sides of the family live in Utah. Nothing better than family. I hope you have plans with loved ones. If not reach out to others who are in the same situation.
I was excited about some information I came across, I just had to share it! All about the most ‘liked’ pieces. For instance the top home decor piece of 2017, top lipstick, purse, Levis (that I ordered after I found them out!) and 12 other top pieces. See where I got this info on todays post HERE.
Also had to share this sweet photo and note I got from reader Carol, because it just made me giggle and put a smile on my face. Just as so many of you do!
Below is my friend Susan’s house from Kindred Vintage. Can you guess the top home decor piece in her room? Well head over to the blog HERE to see if you are right!
Happy Friday! Almost Halloween, I am only excited because my mom and sister are coming in town from Utah!
Anyways today to kick off my Friday Favorites I answered YOUR questions that I have gotten lately over on Instagram. And I talked a little more about Instagram Stories and what I think of them. Also shared a new sweater that I just got and have worn a couple days already (I have it in two colors). Some Christmas things I already bought, a link to an interview that I did from Rank and Style and more!
Also I will be back on Monday for “Ask a Designer” series!
Have a good weekend!
I was needing some inspiration! So I stopped by one of my favorite shops and snapped some pics, so many great ideas to share with you! Even if we don’t buy something in a favorite store I think it is worth stopping in for ideas. I shared other favorites too- a cute little foot stool I found at Target, a favorite new dress (with a pic we snapped before church, Finn is the cutest if I do say so:)) and a lot of other great finds this week!
One of the most asked questions, besides where my kitchen tile is from:) is where I found the cushions for our banquette and also our window seat! I was looking online for other things and came across some really great sources for cushions that are ready made. I also shared my source for our custom window seat and how much it cost on todays post. Hope it helps some of you!
