I wasn’t going to decorate this room. I had already added a little Christmas touch to every other room in our house. I was all dried up with decor and the desire. But this room is where the girls spend a lot of their time and all of us as a family for movie night on the weekend. It needed a little bit of a glow.
I have had this tree for a few years now and it is is one of my favorites. I really don’t even remember where I bought it. This is the first year I added the lights and I love it even more. And the darling tassle basket from Prairie St Mercantile Easy Shop just completes it.
I found this light up sign at Target. It has a timer that shuts off after four hours. I think I might try it on my front door too instead of a wreath!
Lately we have been riding our bikes to the library and renting Christmas movies. My girls LOVED Home Alone, first time watching it and my 8 year old was cracking up. My favorite is The Holiday and Love Actually. We watched Elf and my 8 year old was embarrassed when he did silly things, like sing along with the girl singing in the shower, it was funny to watch her!
Of coarse when we watch movies we have to have a treat. Popcorn is my girls favorite choice and mine. I normally just make it with coconut oil and pink Himalayan salt. But that was all over once they tried popcorn that my friends husband made. I got the recipe and wanted to share it with you…
1/2 cup popcorn kernels, 1/4 cup of oil (I use coconut oil), 1/4 cup sugar (I use about half of that when I make it just for us….but the full sugar is tasty for guests and a gift!)
Put the oil in a large pot over medium heat with a couple of popcorn kernels and cover with a lid. When those kernels pop pour in the rest of the popcorn kernels and sprinkle the sugar over the top. Close the lid and constantly move the pot back and forth over the burner (this keeps the popcorn from burning). Take it off of the heat when you hear the popping farther apart and no more popping (I didn’t time it but it goes pretty quick…a few minutes).
Enjoy it while watching your next Holiday movie!
The cute yellow brush tree was another Target find. I had my friend draw those antlers on my chalkboard close to 4 years ago and I have left them as is ever since. It is like a piece of art to me now, and one of the cheapest! I love adding the wreath around my animal heads for a fun festive touch.
