I recently heard this statement "Getting Ready is a Key Aspect of Performance." I figured it was just referring to getting dressed and putting make-up on...you know getting out of your pajamas for the day, nope I was wrong. It was referring to preparing for whatever task you need to do. In order to have a successful day in general we need to "get ready" meaning set goals, prepare the night before by laying out clothes or packing lunches etc. And a BIG task that you have to "get ready" for is Thanksgiving. If you have ever hosted you know how overwhelming this can be and add the fact that the ... Read More

Book Club- How To Start Your Own
I was a loyal member of a book club in Utah with a big group of friends for about four years. I met new friends and became closer to old friends, I loved that book club. When I moved to Connecticut I brought up the idea of starting a book club to four friends and they all told me they do not read or they were already in a group. So I dropped the idea. Until recently when I was working on a clients home and we realized we knew a couple of the same people. I brought up the idea of book club...again, I just couldn't let it die for me in Connecticut. Luckily they were all in! I recently ... Read More
Writing Desk For Small Spaces
In a smaller home you have to get creative with your furniture placement. Making the most of every.single.space. A home office just wasn't happening in an 1100 square foot home with three kids. I was thrilled when I found the THIS small desk to use in our upstairs family room. It created a great space for blogging, puzzles, coloring and storage for guests. Not to mention, I love the way a small desk looks behind a sofa rather than your traditional sofa table. It is a great way to maximize your small spaces. I floated the sofa into the room to separate my daughters Legos and toys from ... Read More
Popcorn Ceiling Makeover- Wood Planks
I promised to share more details on the ceiling in the Mudroom that I just revealed on Wednesday. (You can see the full makeover HERE). I had not planned on doing the wood planks on the ceiling. But everything changed once I saw the ceiling in person-it was a dated popcorn ceiling. Do you say it had popcorn all over it? However you say it- It had to go. We couldn't leave our Makeover Room for the homeowners with a dated ceiling. I was thrilled when I found THIS Peel and Stick Wood from Lowe's Home Improvement Store. I love that it comes already stained in the white wash finish that I ... Read More

Ideas for Succulents- The Best House Plants
Succulents! They are my favorite house plant. They are low maintenance and pretty hearty. Also I like how they modernize the look of a space, very clean and simple looking. I recently had the best two days- I kept having to pinch myself! We had an awesome magazine come to our little home and take some pictures to be featured in their magazine. I can't share details yet, but hopefully I will be sharing spring of next year! Anyways- after they wrapped up their two days of shooting they asked if I wanted the leftover succulents. I was secretly hoping they would ask. So of course I said yes ... Read More

Making Room for Bebe- with Jonathan Adler
Thank you Fisher Price for sponsoring this post- all photos and opinions are my own. I only work with brands I would personally buy on my own. I wanted to share something new for baby that I just discovered from Jonathan Adler crafted by Fisher-Price, that has made our life easier and I highly recommend for great baby shower gifts. This new collection mixes so well with most any home decor. I always say that we should decorate our homes for our loved ones and for us, not for anyone else. I make my bed everyday even if nobody steps foot into our home. I do it for myself. With that in ... Read More
Our Halloween Home Tour
I am hit and miss with Halloween decorating. Some years I decorate and some years I do nothing. I actually just gave away almost all our Halloween decorations, thankfully I saved a few of my favorite things because my girls have been asking for it! Every year since we started having kids we have gone to my sisters for trick-or-treating and a Halloween party. I always love it. Since moving away from family we didn't get to do that last year. I really missed it. My sister makes it so festive and fun. I thought I should put in a little extra effort this year. Perfect timing to join along with my ... Read More
