My Complete Houseplant Guide- Why I LOVE Houseplants
I hope you had a great Halloween! If you missed it I shared a picture of us on Halloween HERE! Kevin was at a playoff game for the team he works for (NYCFC professional soccer team, that play out of the Yankee Stadium, until their stadium is built). He is the medical director, if you watch the games you will see him on the side. Today I am talking all about Houseplants. This is a complete inventory of all the plants in our home! So get ready to see a lot of photos and tips on owning houseplants. I shared the easiest houseplant to own too. And The Sill gave me a coupon code for 10% off to share with you for today only. They never offer discounts, so even though it is small it will help to off-set the shipping! My new favorite houseplant from them is the “prayer plant”. See it all over on the blog today!
Friday Favorites starts with New Home Decor
I missed Friday Favorites last week! This week I am sharing the new little additions to our home. I had to take some new photos because I am taking over “like to know it home” instagram page on Monday. It is a website and app where you can find sources to the products “influencers” use (if they link to it). This is also a way that we can make money as a blogger/influencer. It does not cost the consumer more it is a way of giving credit to the person who brings that item into your eyesight! So I thought I would share the new items in our home with YOU first!
I also shared a style book that I took a quiz in to figure out my design style. I thought you might want to get the book to take the quiz too, since I get asked that question often, how to figure out your style. I shared what my “style” is on todays post!

New Unique Wall Sconce and Painted Kitchen Door
I am a little nervous to show you all this post! Not because I don’t love it. Because we painted something that I know a lot of you wanted me to leave it as is or paint it pink! We went with a color that not a lot suggested. But ONE of you suggested it and it was exactly the suggestion I needed!
Yes- talking about our kitchen door!
We also got the most unique wall sconce from eBay. I got it for a deal, and sadly there was just one on eBay. Who knows, it might wind up back on there. But I will share with just my email subscribers you can find it HERE on Design Within Reaches website. Yes, it is pricey outside of eBay, but oh it is good and makes a statement.

DESIGN QUESTION-
“I need help with the layout of this room. Currently thinking of buying a lighter sofa and side chair and eliminating the sofa & loveseat if that would help with layout better. Thank you so much! I have learned so much from your instagram & fb group” -Brooke McBride
MY SUGGESTION-
Really I think your layout is great. If you were to change to a chair I think it would feel off balance because of the large windows. You want something substantial on that side of the room under the tall windows. What about doing a sectional? Then you could leave your recliner chair there too. Also if you go with a lighter sofa/sectional keep in mind the color of your rug if you want to keep it. I like the pops of white with the cream rug- but if your new sofa is cream the rug will have to change. You have done really well so far!!

The Answer to The Most Asked Design Question
Hello! I have noticed a trend from YOUR design questions. So I answered the most asked question I get. I wonder if you can guess what it is? I also answered one of your email subscriber questions today too. I shared my tips and walked you through an easy photo shop tool too! Hope it helps…
Maximize A Small Space with a Secretary Desk
Remember a couple Friday Favorites ago I shared a Secretary Desk I found and couldn’t decide on blue or the white? Well I got the white and I have to say I am LOVING it! This piece would be so great in so many homes and in so many spaces. Come see what it looks like, well after the kids played with it for a couple of days…. Don’t worry I still let them play with it, but it just accessorized a little differently.
Country Living Predictions For Fall 2017 & What Is OUT
I recently came across an article in Country Living Magazine, “Trends for Fall”. The article shared 5 things that are OUT for home decor. Now you all know me, I am about using pieces that you love in your home. But if you are in the market for some new pieces for your home or are bored of what you have…this article it really helpful! I shared some great pieces that I searched for to match their trend predictions, like $10 pillow covers! Before you head to my blog I thought I would share with just my email subscribers what Country Living said was OUT….
OUT- Generic Furniture– “Instead of buying the whole set, people are now mixing and matching for a one-of-a-kind look.”
OUT- Copper Home Accessories- “It’s the overly shiny, obviously fake home accents that have flooded the market in recent years that are beginning to look dated.”
OUT- Marble Accessories- “A few marble touches here and there can be perfectly lovely. But the recent trend of all marble everywhere is a bit tired.”
OUT- Boring Bedding- “The days of a white coverlet, white shams, and a duvet on every bed are changing.”
See what I had to say over on my blog today about these trends. It has me a tiny bit excited for fall!
ASK NESTING WITH GRACE-
Megan sent me an email with this question- “I want to paint my hall but unsure on what paint color. I like bright colors.” She just painted her front door the bright yellow. She also asked in the Nesting with Grace Facebook Group and attached the photo with the gray paint sample…
I suggested and everyone in the group agreed that she should paint her walls white so the yellow would be the main focal point, especially since she said she likes bright colors. I think we often forget that white is a color and it is really great way to brighten up your home! Then she asked if she should hang anything on the opposite side of the new white table she added. I told her I wouldn’t because it could be too busy. Let the white entry table is a great focal point! Love how it turned out…
