I am very excited to take you on a complete tour of our main level in our small Cape and share all my Christmas ideas in one post. All the twinkle lights for Christmas and how the main floor all flows together in a small space. It is perfect timing to take you on this tour with Jennifer Rizzo and her amazing Holiday Housewalk. This is THE biggest home tour for Christmas Decor on the internet, I am overjoyed to join it! It reminds me of a progressive dinner where you walk to neighbors homes and start with appetizers and end at desserts. But really the reason you go is to is your neighbors homes for the holidays! Am I right?
If you are coming from my friend from Nina Hendrick ahhhhh, she is uber talented and that huge tree of her’s is jaw dropping!
If you are new to my blog, thank you for joining me! If you are a long time reader, I love you! I have been blogging for about two years now. It all started when we moved from Utah to Connecticut to our small Cape for my husbands job. There are five of us living in this 1100 square foot 1950’s Cape- My husband, two daughters and our little man. We picked location over square footage and haven’t thought twice about it. We live about a half a mile to the beach and close to NYC. I believe 100% that anyone can have a home that they love and feel happy being in no matter the size. So let’s start this little Christmas tour!
I am kind of obsessed with twinkle lights. You add lights to any space and it feels like magic, instant warmth and coziness follow. I took most of my pictures in the evening to capture a little more of that cozy glow.
I hung a simple burlap bag on our pineapple door knocker instead of a wreath this year. It is filled with fresh pine clippings and eucalyptus. The addition of gold bells makes it feel more festive find similar bells HERE).
The lights around the fresh garland are THESE patio lights that we just took down for winter. I love the bigger bulb and the double use of something is even better!
The green planters were on our back deck as well. I brought them up front and wrapped some ribbon around them for Christmas. And wove a couple stands of my favorite battery operated pinecone lights (HERE).
Let’s head inside! Right when you walk in our small Cape there are stairs to head up to our girls shared bedroom, family room and a bathroom. We are going to stay on the main level today. I will share upstairs next week!
On the other side of the stairs is our painted pink piano. Both of our girls play the piano and I do as well (need to practice more) I LOVE the piano the most this time of year when they start playing Christmas Hymns.
I had this sign last year and cherish it- “For unto you is born this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:11. (You can find it HERE use code CHRISTMAS20). Such a great reminder on what to remember and focus on everyday.
I tried to create an entry, even in a small house you can have an entry. I added a real little Christmas tree and some candles along with a wreath on the closet door for some Christmas touches.
We don’t have a fireplace (the girls do wonder how Santa get’s in….imagine what we tell them:)). Anyways this is where I decided to hang our stockings and have for the past three years. I have THIS fresh garland on the banister and some of my favorite stargazer lights for a unique glow (find them HERE).
This is the front room- the room where we spend most of our time together. You can see the rest of this room all decked out for Christmas and more details on the tree HERE.
I went with really soft colors in our front room for Christmas. Pulled out touches of blush for a whimsical touch and to bring in the colors of our piano. In our upstairs family room I went with darker hunter green, blacks, grays and creams. It is fun to do different looks for Christmas, yet they all play really well together!
After you walk out of this room to the left is our little kitchen! We turned it into an eat-in kitchen to maximize our spaces best for us. My favorite thing to decorate as early as the first part of November is around the kitchen sink. I have THIS faux garland and added in some fresh eucalyptus and lights for some life!
Oh and we just got THIS little step stool for all the Christmas baking we will be doing.
I added THIS little Christmas tree pillow to our cozy banquette and THIS stand of faux garland that already had lights.
We actually might spend the most time in this little space doing homework, eating and listening to Christmas music! I do have to say we are loving our new chandelier (find it HERE). You can see more of our Christmas Kitchen HERE.
When you head out of our little kitchen there is a short hallway that takes you to the Master Bedroom, a bathroom and Finn’s room.
First let’s head into our little man Finn’s bedroom, because it is pretty fun! I did add a couple little Christmas touches to his room….because I kind of go wild in the girls room at Christmas I felt he needed something too!
Finn is 20 months old and at the age where he will actually sit and look at books (finally!). I bring out a box of Christmas books from storage every year and it is a treat to read our favorites.
Finn got a two wreaths hanging from his nice windows. I tied a scarf around them and stuck a little reindeer stocking that used to be my oldest when she was about the same age!
The nesting Santa’s were my mom’s, not sure why I got them but I am glad I have them! You can see more of Finn’s nursery HERE and the other side of the room where the daybed is for extra places for guests!
Across from Finn’s nursery is the Master Bedroom. It is actually the smallest room in house but we decided to give the kids the bigger rooms because they need the most space to play and to keep all their toys!
We have a queen size bed in here that I strung some garland across for Christmas and added a couple of extra throws for the winter. We also have two dressers in this room and a chair. You can see more of our Master Bedroom with a little Christmas Decor HERE.
Thank you so much for taking a tour of our little Connecticut Cape! You can see the rest of our home HERE and find paint colors and shop for anything that caught your eye.
Next stop on the Holiday HouseWalk is my sweet friend Cami from Tidbits! She lives in Utah…makes me home sick to see some of her posts. You will love her photos and home just as much as I do. Click on the button below to go right to her home tour.

thank you Kelly! Your home is out of control amazing!!
I love how you reuse items-from the patio lights and planters to the scarf on Finn’s wreath. It makes decorating so much easier and gives new life to those pieces. And your front room tree is my absolute favorite. It’s just so beautiful, yet fun and magical too!! It must look so pretty at night.
