I am very excited to share the girls bedroom changes with you. They both love it so much and so do I! Right now this is my favorite room in our house, but ask me after the next room I update! After I finished decorating it I kept coming up here at random times just to smile! If you missed it, I shared the WHY behind the little changes on a recent blog post. Basically Ella wanted her own room and it boiled down to the fact that she wanted to decorate it with more blue and wanted an exciting change. There is no way she would want to sleep by herself. The girls really love sharing a room and it is such a blessing they have each other. Ella’s favorite thing is the new sconces above each of their beds with the “Magic Light Trick”. The lights have only been up a few days but I have noticed them both sitting and reading in their beds more often and even longer. Huge win!
You ready to see it?
Girls Shared Bedroom Reveal-
Can you even handle that wallpaper? I can not. I love it more than any other wallpaper! So fun to see my vision come to life! Below is the design board I put together before I started the mini project (you can see how to create a design board HERE).
I thought I would refresh your memory of what the girls bedroom looked like before! And this should be mentioned that right before I was going to take down the wallpaper Kevin said “I like the wallpaper that is up more than the new one” I was like…. “who says that right before I go to start something?” ha! I do like the original wallpaper, but there was a purpose for the change. He agree’s that he likes the room now too. Sometimes it just takes vision! But I was able to save all the old temporary wallpaper! I might use it for something fun, like wrapping Kevins car in it 😂.
Girls Bedroom Before-
After Wallpaper-
The wallpaper is from Anewall it is the Vintage Hawaiian Bombora Mural. Self adhesive (peel and stick) wallpaper. But you can order it to come as traditional wallpaper with a matte finish that you put up with wallpaper paste. The very BEST part is the wallpaper came numbered and pre-cut! Saved SO much time. You just put notes in on the size. Really the fastest wallpaper I have ever installed and I have installed my fair share of wallpaper! You will honestly drool over their wallpaper patterns.
Kevin gave the walls (that aren’t wallpapered) a fresh coat of a brighter, whiter paint. We had some Simply White from Benjamin Moore left over from the girls bathroom remodel so we went with that same color.
It is such a playful and fun wallpaper! Perfect for my girls and this little cape that is a short walk to the beach! Also Hawaii is one of our favorite places to visit. Basically we think it was made for us!
Lights in Girls Room-
We added THESE Gooseneck Sconces above each of the girls beds. These lights are everything! They can actually be installed outside, I love the industrial vibe. We added the Magic Light Trick to these sconces. If you are unfamiliar with my *cough FAMOUS Magic Light Trick you are missing out! Basically it is a way to add a sconce anywhere in your home without having to hire an electrician! It really puts no limits on what you want to do.
What we use are THESE exact battery operated puck lights and attach them inside the sconce instead of a lightbulb. And trust me, those are the best, brightest lights that last about 100 hours and they come with a remote so you can set them on a timer! If Ella or Lola are reading before bed they can set the timer so they don’t fall asleep with them on. Or they can adjust the brightness! I love the warm glow it puts off. I attached the magic light so it would shine straight down on them reading. I used THESE to attach the light to the sconce. Boom! Magic Light Trick! (For a video on Magic Light Trick and other sconces go HERE)
I was considering painting the beds or white washing them. But after installing the bright white lights I felt like it brightened up the beds enough. And many of you said the beds feel like driftwood or the color of sand with the ocean wallpaper!
Bedding in Girls Room-
You know I LOVE Beddy’s Zip-up Bedding. And they have become someone I work with often. They sent me their newest bedding that is more modern for the girls updated bedroom look. It is just perfect. I didn’t get a picture but the inside of the bedding, but it has pretty script writing and the coziest blanket sewn into the top zip-up part. If you aren’t familiar with Beddys Bedding it is zip-up type bedding that zips up like a sleeping bag. The top piece can come all the way off for washing. It is just two pieces, no need to mess with extra blankets! Shop-Beddy’s Zip-up Bedding use code NESTING20 for 20% off your order!!
Although I really like to add some fluff to the end of the beds. I used THESE duvets in yellow and pink for some fun color. (I just want to make a note about those duvets- they are kind of odd because they don’t really close. I used THESE duvet clips to keep two Ikea inserts in place).
Art in Girls Room-
Zero new art was purchased in the making of this room! Really! I just went around our house and brought up any art that I thought would look better than where it was, into the girls room. And really the spot that it was doesn’t miss it. I just continued the shuffle and moved more things to fill the holes. Remember to always Shop your home first!
Really though the “Oh Lola” looks like it was made for this room! Doesn’t it? It was a photo I took of Lola being Lola and my talented friend turned it into a gorgeous painting! (Read more about it HERE).
The Katherine Jury Original art was in Finn’s room but the mixture of blue, green and mint had to come in here! I love how it brings the blue back over to this side of the room.
Ella made a mini string heart art a couple Saturday’s ago, we found the perfect spot for it above her desk. (Find a tutorial on String Art HERE).
Memories will continue to be made here. Because you know after you make changes to a space- it feels brand new again and you can’t get enough!

Thanks Lisa!
First of all, please never worry about emailing us too much! I love when I have my coffee in the morning and open my email to see one from you. Thank you!
Your girls’ room looks so beautiful, and so much fun that they love it. It’s such a great feeling when you redecorate a space and want to keep going back to look at it.
Oh thank you Susan! You are so kind. I guess you are right, the people who really want my emails will stay! Happy you are one of them!
I love the updates Brooke!! Very fun, yet serene beachy bedroom. I am
Sure your girls love it!
I love their new room! We are redoing our home at the beach and this is such an inspiration for me!! Thank you for sharing!
This is by far my favorite design yet! The reason for that is because I have two boys & two girls & they share rooms. I have been thinking of ideas on how to organize & decorate
each room. As parents, it seems we only have our kids for what feels like a second and then they become adults. I always want to create a space for them that they will always remember & love (and I enjoyed creating). Beautifully done Brooke!!
Thanks Vanessa! Oh I LOVE that your kids share rooms too! And I agree with you so much. Ella is already 10, it is going by too quickly 😭
Omg the photo where one of your girls is holding Finns hand & one is holding his foot! So sweet!!! Love what you did with the new room!
I am SO glad someone caught Lola holding Finn’s foot too! Finn is a BIG hand holder, so happy to have caught a picture of it.
You are so sweet!
I’ve been anxiously awaiting the “re-newed” bedroom reveal, so THANKS. It is just so charming, and the best part is how happy you made your daughters (and Finn 😊). Never too many emails from you. Hugs…
I just love this update! I love that you can change out the look of the room with just a few changes. You are such an inspiration. I love your Instagram post and what Lola said. what a compliment… your family is such a joy to follow.
Grace, this is so beautiful! The wallpaper, the sconces, the bedding. I love the beach yet girly vibe. You have such vision ! I have a question about the magic lights. I purchased the exact ones from Amazon but the batteries have petered out after just a short few hours of use …… maybe 10 hrs?
Thank you! It could be the batteries- they sent not the best batteries. Maybe you got a bad set? Or it could have gotten left on?? Try again with new batteries!
This looks amazing! Everything you do inspires me!
My in-laws live in Fairfield, Ill have to try and find your library soon
Love the new wallpaper, so pretty
I love the change! Fits the girls perfectly! And I love you!
It looks like there is an Airedale terrier pillow in the hallway beyond the girls bedroom. I have an Airedale! Did you guys once have a dog? Where is the pillow from may I ask?
We don’t have a dog, but love them on pillows 🙂
I found it at Anthropolgie on sale last year!
Such a darling room! The beds are beautiful and clearly good quality so I could understand not wanting to make a big furniture change, but have you considered bunk beds to free up a little more room? My boys share and have a fairly small room. They have been such a life saver for space!
It is actually a big room! You just cant really see the big play space by the hanging chair. We have guests often and they occasionally sleep in here, really don’t want bunkbeds. But there are cute ones out there!
Sooooooooooo good!!!!!!
I think the blue wallpaper is super cute but I miss the framed
next to the bed. It was adorable and filled the space — but who cares what I think if your girls love it 🙂
