We asked for submissions from our local readers for a kids bedroom to makeover. We were looking for just one room to makeover but it ended up snowballing into 4 makeovers, that Kevin and I ended up giving away!! This is the last bedroom makeover. And it is a girls toddler bedroom makeover. She is a cutie little girl who is 3 years old (Finn's age) and still in a crib. Which a 3 year old in a crib isn't a problem, but it was the perfect excuse to give them a makeover!!! And we had the cutest bed ever that I really wanted to feature in a makeover! I partnered with Walmart and purchased some ... Read More

How Design Style and Fashion Style Meet- 10 Bloggers Weigh In
When the weather changes, I always reassess my wardrobe for the new season. I have limited space, so I I have to be thoughtful about what I carry in my closet. I have written about the way I manage my clothes and how I systematically clear out what I am no longer wearing in this post. As I was sifting through what I want to keep and what I want to donate to make room for cozier sweaters and wintry colors, I began to notice a theme-- I tend to like solid basics and fun pops of pattern. I am not a fashion blogger, but I DO buy clothes and dress myself. I know what I like to ... Read More
Wayfair Labor Day Sale and our New Lamps
We did some lamp shuffling and evaluating of our lamps functionality this month. Real serious stuff. We live in a 1950's cape with hardly zero overhead lights, so lamps are essential. And finding the right floor lamp is even more essential. Our lamp situation has been bothering me….you know what I am talking about. They are fine lamps. But not great for the space. Some lights you need to offer direct, task type light or some you need to brighten up an entire room. When we made-over my friend Sarah's living room, she really needed a floor lamp (she lives in an older home too). While we were ... Read More
Shiplap Fireplace and DIY Mantle (Ditched the Old Traditional)
A lot of you wanted the step by step tutorial on this DIY shiplap fireplace makeover that Kevin and our friend Joe did (in Joe's home). It turned out really amazing. They did such a good job. I had a basic vision of taking the existing fireplace mantle completely off, (it was very traditional and really too small for the space) and coming up with something that we could DIY. It had to not take too much time and not cost a ton of money. Sounds like a simple request right? "I don't want this to take too much time or money!" haha! Famous last words. In our home we added an electric ... Read More
Back to School Hacks, Lunches, Snacks and More!
Do your kids love back to school or hate it? When asked this question, my friend's son said "I get pretty excited, but I know that it is fake excitement because by day two, I will wish it was summer again." I couldn't have put it better myself! Sometimes we are guilty of wishing away the moment, thinking what is coming next will be better or easier. This is why back to School is such a bitter-sweet. We love summertime around here. But there is a joy that comes with structure and learning, that we look forward to as well! I actually used to dread things like- making lunches and my kids getting ... Read More

My mother in law jokes that we have the hardest working kitchen in the country! She may be right. We cook at home and feed our family of five whole foods everyday. So I need my appliances to be 100% practical and useful! I am going to share a super easy family healthy dinner idea all made in the hardest working appliance. I have had to ditch appliances that I only occasionally used. And I am totally thrilled with this new appliance, we had family ... Read More
Guests are Coming Printable and What it looks like!!!
We have 6 guests staying with us right now! That might not seem like a lot to some. But our home is only 1100 square feet! And 4 of those 6 guests are basically adults and the two others are 8 & 6. We LOVE every minute of it. Not once do I say "I can't wait until they leave" we truly love it. Our home becomes a Bed and Breakfast about once a month and my kids really look forward to it too. I thought it would be fun to show you where everyone sleeps and it might give you an idea too. Also some ideas on how to stay sane with a lot of house guests! Where does everyone sleep? We do ... Large Family Room Makeover- How to not get Overwhelmed
I am often asked questions about how to make a large family room feel more cozy and what to do with expansive blank walls to make a home feel homey. This obviously isn't a problem in my 1100 square foot cape, but my friend recently moved into a home with a large, over-the-garage bonus room. Not only was the 800 square foot family room ENORMOUS, it was not really functional for her family and she said that it often felt like a giant waste since no one really wanted to spend time up there!! Can anyone else relate to a large family room?? I have some tips for you~ How to not ... Read More
