Hello! I am joining Marty for her Bloggers Fall Home Tour. I love to join this tour every season, it is a great way to get inspiration and to share other amazing blogs with all of you! If you are coming over from hbErin Spain welcome to my blog! We are a family of five, living in Connecticut. We are less than a mile to the beach and about an hour from NYC. Living in an 1100 square foot house, I don't do a lot of seasonal decor, but I do make some small intentional changes to my every-day decor and of course add a pumpkin or 20! It is a good time to refresh, move things from room to room and to ... Read More

A fun game to play with these posts is to think what you would do before you read my design suggestion! Let us know if you would suggest something ... Read More
Ask a Designer Series- Mistakes made to TV Walls
What do I do with my TV wall is a question I hear a lot! We all wish that we didn't have want to have the TV in our family room, but we do. What can we say, most Americans love their TV and why not make it look good? I received two questions for my "Ask a Designer Series" from my subscribers in regards to their TV wall. After looking at their pictures I thought, first I should talk about what NOT to do, mistakes that are often made on TV walls. Now I am not just pointing out the mistakes from the questions I was sent. We see these same "mistakes" over and over. But do not worry, they can ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with ways to Make the Most of Everything
On my Instagram the other day. I talked about how my really good friend lived in a small house in Downtown Salt Lake City. Most homes in that area are older, just like mine and smaller scale. I have to say I LOVED driving up to her home and passing the small quant restaurants all glowing at night. She lived on the most charming street, one of those streets you want to get out and walk so you can peep in the windows. Well one of downsides to this charming area and home is lack of storage. Back then we lived in 3,000 square feet in a new residential area. I have to admit I was a little horrified ... Read More
Ask A Designer Series- Rugs and More
I am back answering with another edition of Ask A Designer Series! I loved the response about this new series. There are a lot of design questions sitting in my in-box waiting to be answered and I promise I will work through them! When I share the "Design Question" I trim down the actual email. But I have to say you all are SO kind. It can be weird running a blog. I am my own boss. Unless I am working on a sponsored post I don't have deadlines or timeframes. There is also no one patting me on the back. I relish your kind words. For example this one from Holly has to be shared because she said ... Read More
Ask A Designer Series- What Do I Do With My Walls
I started offering a chance to ask me one FREE design question for anyone who subscribes to my bog. I have loved getting to know my readers more personally and understanding what you need design help with. I appreciate my loyal readers so much and wanted to offer this personal service. I am accepting simple design questions like "what color should I paint in here?" or "what rug would you suggest?" One question I keep getting is "what should I do on my walls?" I know friends and clients who have not hung one single thing on their wall and lived in their homes for years. They are afraid of doing ... Read More
Friday Favorites Start with a Home Created with Purpose
I am going to be honest with you. I LOVE decorating our home- I would change things often even if the blog didn't exist. Maybe because of the blog changes are made more often, but they would still be made. BUT one thing that I struggle with as a blogger and on social media is I don't want to sound like I am saying "buy this or look what I just got!" or "Look at my perfect house." I want to share with purpose and design with purpose. I blog and share our home because it pushes me personally to set goals and stay creative. Keeps me sane. I have that achiever personality that I feel lousy at ... Read More
Friday Favorites Starts With What I Learned From Downsizing
Downsizing has taught me SO much. We went from 3200 square feet to 1100 square feet! That is a BIG difference. I still can't believe ALL the crap I brought with us when we moved. It is embarrassing, for example- 4 sets of dishes, 10 plastic totes full of baby and girl clothes, 8 extra dining chairs that I didn't have a spot for, a lot of seasonal crap, a giant turkey roaster (you know for that BIG thanksgiving I could host in our 10x10 kitchen) a crepe maker, ice-cream maker, a million blankets, sleeping bags for that one time we might actually go camping (never) and a bazillion canning ... 5 House Plants That are Low Maintenance- My Tips on Keeping them Alive
Most of you know we took a month long trip to Utah and California. We left my husband at home, someone has to take care of the house plants! Oh wait, he really didn't even have to do that and it probably would have been better if I didn't ask him too. We lost a few house plants from over-watering...bless his heart, he was just trying to follow instructions. Basically the less you do with house plants the better. Pinterest puts out a forecast of home design trends they predict will be popular for the year. One of the trends they forecasted for 2017 was house plants. "Lush greenery that ... Read More
Friday Starts with My Favorite Place To Go For Inspiration
Do you have that place you go for inspiration? I was talking to my old boss- she owns an entire village of little shops, called Gardner Village in Utah. She was saying that hopefully the world doesn't all go to exclusively online shopping and no need for brick and mortar shops. I told her no way! I am a big online shopper. But there are a handful of shops I love to pop into for inspiration. And typically if a salesperson engages with me and points out her favorite things in their shop, guarantee I will buy it. It is all about connecting and giving ideas! So one of my favorite places to go ... Read More
