We are SO excited to finally be doing something we have had on our wish list for awhile now! Kevin is actually the one who pushed for this project. New Siding in Cedar Impressions! Our home is a 1950's cape in Connecticut and 1100 square feet. The vinyl siding was fine, but it had some areas that were damaged. One damaged spot by the deck that the BBQ had melted! We came from Utah with a stucco home and never had to think twice about the siding melting! It melted the first time we used the BBQ. Not good! Our neighbors updated their wood shake shingles to Cedar Impressions last year. They ... Read More

New England Homes- Exterior Paint Color Ideas
Happy Memorial Day! I can remember driving through Connecticut and our little town called Fairfield for the very first time. I was smitten, it was love at first sight. No home is alike. They all have so much charm and character. Especially this time of year. New England has a way with homes. I notice I am drawn to the exteriors with a pop of color or the perfect curves and angels. The other day I decided I was finally going to take some pictures of my favorite exteriors right around our home. I pass by these homes when I am taking my girls to school or out running. I have to say it is ... Read More
Summer Home Tour Exterior Reveal
Welcome to my Summer Home Tour Exterior Reveal! I joined The White Buffalo Styling Co. and a group of bloggers sharing our homes for Blogger Stylin' Home Tours. I love seeing how everyone lightens up and refreshes their homes in the Summer. I personally want to declutter and simplify everything. We have been busy updating the exterior of our home and adding some much needed curb appeal. We have lived in our 1950's Connecticut Cape for close to a year and a half now and I have been itching to get this done, but it somehow became the last thing we did. We partnered with Lowes on this project. I ... Read More
Christmas and Winter Front Porch 2023
My inspiration for our front porch came when I found a nutcracker at one of my favorite local shops, that was already hand painted in the prettiest colors! I knew I wanted the nutcracker to be the star, and accent with real evergreen trees and loads of fresh garland for a maximalist look. You have probably seen this nutcracker in the original red form on social media. I walked into The Simple Nest and immediately asked the store owner, Aubrey if she would sell it and she was happy to! She did say it took her hours to paint him, I can imagine it was a BIG project. Around the ... Read More
Favorite Outdoor String Lights
I am picky about string lights, you know I have a favorite string lights we use everywhere outside. We have tried several different outdoor string lights, and I always go back to them same lights. They are the brightest, warmest glow. We have them strung around our front porch, back porch, pergola and sports court. We attach them to fences with zip ties, hook over a screw or use a staple gun for electrical wire. New Outdoor Favorites- ... Read More
We Planted a Tree and Created a Seating Area
We had to have several trees removed from our yard after they were attacked by beetles. Sad day when a tree dies. But happy day when a new tree is planted. It was quite the process having dead trees removed, the stump ground down, root ball and soil prepared for a new tree. We did have professionals do all those steps, it was a really big job. The one perk of our tree dying was our new tree is slimmer, making room for a pair of chairs, the perfect spot to watch kids playing and chat with neighbors walking by. I love to create seating areas all through our yard as more places to sit and gather. ... Read More
Hidden Garbage Storage and Air Conditioner Unit- Plus Small Shed
Last October we built a mini shed to hide our garbages and a privacy fence for our air conditioning units. One of you reminded me I never shared it! 9 months later, I am finally sharing how we strategically hid our garbages from our backyard and street view and also our air conditioning units from our pool views. I don't know about you, but there are some things I just don't want to see, if we can make it visually cohesive, then why not do it? And I can say 9 months later, we are happy with what we did! Ready to see it? Outdoor Garbage Can Area Before- Outdoor Garbage Can Area ... Read More
Our Garden and Favorite Outdoor Finds
The same time we remodeled our home we also worked on the landscaping, some of it was necessary after large trucks had been driving on most our yard, and some of it was just to maximize the space to how we like to use it. Our awesome landscapers built garden boxes for us and had a sprinkler system installed in the boxes. First time having someone make something like that for us, but it can be an pretty easy DIY. Our garden was really successful! Today I am sharing our garden area and a new potting station, with some favorite outdoor finds! Thank you Walmart for sponsoring this ... Read More
