Within a day or two of us moving into our new home, we quickly realized we needed a Stair Runner, some protection! ALL of us slipped down the stairs more than once. Although I loved the look of the simple wood steps, I didn't want our lives to be risked in our own home. So in a haste I ordered a runner for our stairs as fast as I could for the cheapest I could find it (because we were bleeding money on bathroom remodels and kitchen). We watched a couple tutorials on how to install stair runners on our own. We went and got a new staple gun and got after it! In an hour we had a new stair ... Read More
No Sew Pillows- Easy DIY
*Post contains affilate links I came up with an EASY way to make pillow covers that are No-Sew! I actually do know how to sew and I do have a sewing machine. But sometimes you don't want to get out the sewing machine, but you do want to make a quick pillow. Or maybe you find cloth napkins that you love the fabric so much you want it for pillows. This was the case with my new lemon napkins, they needed to be summer pillows. Perfect match. All you need for No-Sew Pillows- Eyelet Snap Punch ( I use this all the time for cards and tags) 8 Eyelets (in the color to match your fabric, ... Read More
Sentimental Mothers Day Gifts and DIY Art
I have been thinking of Mothers Day, rare for me to think this far ahead (I guess it isn't that far, 3 weeks away). Maybe because I live far away from my Mom I have to be on the ball and make sure I have time to ship something to her and my mother-in-law. I got a mothers day idea after a call from my Grandma, she was searching for her mothers famous Carmel Popcorn Ball recipe. She couldn't find it and none of her sisters had it either. I had actually written it down for a high school assignment and saved it in my recipe book. I thought a family recipe would make a perfect piece of art! It ... Read More
Pink Paint Colors and all things pink!
I shared on my Instagram stories the other day that I am wanting to paint my piano. I mentioned it here too. Right now it is painted in Paris Gray Chalk Paint. It has been this color for maybe 6 years. I am ready for a change! Since we are in the process of switching up the furniture in our front room right now, it is the perfect time. So I was originally thinking white, but it just didn't feel right. I had the can of white paint sitting on the piano ready to go. But I wasn't feeling it. I already have two pieces painted white in the room not to mention our wall of built-in bookcases are ... Read More
Gray Paint Change up on our Interior Kitchen Door
Maybe it is the unseasonably warm weather we are having in Connecticut that is making me itch for Spring and changes. Or it could be me feeling off if I don't paint something every now and then. As you know we are making some fun changes coming up in our kitchen. Actually my handy-man gave me a date that he can come and I can't wait for him to get started on the banquette in our kitchen. We also have new roman shades coming for our windows in here. So of course like any home project it snowballs and I decided I needed to paint our kitchen interior door. BEFORE- Gray from Benjamin ... Is shiplap a fad? Or here to stay?
I shared on THIS blog post that we are adding banquette seating to our kitchen. Unfortunately it has not been started....yet. I got a bid from our handy man who hung our track door, front door and installed wallpaper on Finn's ceiling. I also got a bid from a referral from someone who actually read my banquette seating post and his bid was three times the price of our handy mans bid! I got another bid just because our handy man is about a few more weeks out before he can start and I was getting anxious to get it going. But I can TOTALLY wait to save $1800. While I wait I have had time to ... Read More
Maximize every inch in your small kitchen
Hello! I have been asked a handful of times- "what is on the other side of your fridge?" No? You haven't asked that? Well I am going to tell you, I am sure you are totally interested now. It is actually one of the hardest 2'x2' working spots in our home. It really is all about maximizing every inch in a small kitchen, actually a small home for that matter. First I wanted to show you what inspired this space in our kitchen. I found THIS photo from Country Living Magazine. This home has a small kitchen too and a small home actually. I wish I had room for a little desk ... Read More
Paint Night Birthday Party
Ella just turned 9! What a fun, witty, sassy little thing she is. She wanted to have her Birthday party at our home again this year. The day of her scheduled party she was sick. She was so bummed. Then the day of her re-scheduled party three girls were sick. Personally I thought it was nice to have a smaller group. We had a paint night and it was a big hit, everyone loved the painting! This would be so fun to do with a bunch of girl friends or even with couples. I went to a paint night at a restaurant with some friends and it was a lot of fun- but it would be way more affordable to do ... Read More
Love in the form of our new Hanging Chair
I can not even handle how much I love this chair. Who knew something like a hanging chair could make me so happy! Actually I knew. I have been wanting one ever since birth...not really but close. Funny thing is my mom saw our new hanging chair via a picture and she reminded me of the one we had growing up, the one that my sister got stitches after falling off of it. It was one that didn't hang from the ceiling, just from an arm attached to the chair and it had metal parts and was probably really not safe at all (I should find a pic of it), not like this magnificent chair we just hung from ... Painting Tips and Favorite Paints with Trimaco
I have had a few painting projects in the back of my mind....just waiting for the right time to be painted. Or I should say the right time for the husband to be around to paint them. Painting projects can seem overwhelming- no matter the size. One of the reasons I put off painting my piano and big sideboard for years was because I thought I would have to have a garage to paint them in or even have to move them out of my home. I was excited to come across Trimaco and all their great products to tackle any project in your home. I partnered with them to share some of our painting tips that we ... Read More
