If you follow me on instagram then you saw we made a little change to our front porch! We added tile on each of the front of the steps! I actually was thinking of painting some sort of pattern with the black stripes we had, maybe a buffalo check pattern- kind of like a rug up the steps. But on second thought, I felt it would look too "crafty" ha! So I typed "painted steps" into Pinterest hoping for some inspiration. And in the painted steps search, I saw some stenciled, tile looking front steps- just on the front of each riser. Loved the look. But hate to stencil. So we came up with another ... Read More
2019 Fall Home Decor Trends vs Fall Fashion Trends
It all started with pumpkins and I had ordered a few fall shirts to try a week ago and they came in. Annnnnd I love them. I will say at first glance they were a no. But once I tried them on they felt uber cozy. It got me thinking how fall fashion trends seem pretty on-trend with home decor trends. I found an article from Elle Decor Magazine with the Top Fall Trends for 2019. I thought it would be fun to find something similar in Home Decor that is a must-have for Fall! While I will never dress this high-fashion and be on-trend with the fashion scene. We can all take bits and ... Read More
FALL Tour- Bookcase Styling and Color Blocking
I tried something new in our front room. With the change of the seasons I got that "change" part down! Seasonal decor can just mean moving things around and for Fall my favorite thing to do is mix in some real pumpkins. I love the natural look of real pumpkins and the fact that I don't have to find a place to store them when the season is over. I re-styled our bookcases and tried color blocking! Basically it's grouping similar colors next to each other. I really love how it turned out. There are a lot more accessories in the bookcase than was before, but fun for a little change. Speaking of ... Read More
Fall Fireplace Styling and Floral Arranging Tips
This post is sponsored by Christmas Tree Shops Do you remember the fireplace we made over about 9 months ago for my friends? I thought it would be fun to show you how I would style a fireplace mantle for fall! Seeing as I don't have a fireplace and I love a chance to freshen up a friends space. I approached her fall decor in her family room/front room with the idea that she could use most everything over and over or use in a new way in a different room. You don't have to start completely over when you styling your home each season. I do suggest trying to work with the main ... Read More
Friday Favorites- Fall Books, Fashion and Hair
With each season change comes up a stack of treasured books. Our biggest book stacks are in the Fall and for Christmas. Without fail we always read more after new books show up. Even tho Ella is 10 she enjoys sitting for an illustrated book or she will read one to Finn. I actually look forward to the new/old books too. And we have a tradition that we buy a new book for the season. I took a poll on Instagram and asked for everyone to share their favorite fall children books. I was surprised that there were many repeats I had never heard of! And many that we also have and ... Read More
Fall Kitchen minus the “Fall Decor”
I'm going for it. Yes. Sharing some Fall Decor in our Kitchen today. Except it really isn't decor that would be classified under the typical "fall category". This got me thinking about why do I personally change my decor a little for Fall or with each season? What is the draw for me? Because it isn't for everyone. And many pride themselves on doing nothing for each season change. For me fall decor is about a change. With each new season we have a change in routines. A change in temperature. A change in how the interior of our home looks from the light that comes in. ... Read More
Friday Favorites- Slowly adding Fall Decor
I wanted to share a quick message with you today that a sweet reader sent me after I shared some simple Fall decor updates I have been making to our home. "It's a good to remember that the stuff we already own can be "fixed" to be exactly what we need." That could mean a lot of different things. From painting a table we already have, to cleaning our homes, or simply adding a new pillow to our beds instead of thinking we need an entirely new bed or sofa! I am personally testing out and experimenting with my Fall Home Decor Trend predictions and slowly adding some little changes. For ... Read More
Friday Favorites- 10 Fall Home Decor Trends 2018
For Friday Favorites today I had to jump on sharing some Fall ideas. I took a poll in Instagram stories and 81% of you are ready for Fall! That surprised me! Fall decor doesn't mean go to the nearest home decor/hobby store and buy a bunch of faux pumpkins, signs, faux leaves etc. Or bringing up a container from the basement with a bunch of accessories that you add on top of what you already have. I searched online for common trends I noticed for Fall Home Decor this year- 2018. There is definitely a strong Fall Trend. And oh yes, it makes me very excited! What about you?? But not ready to ... Fall Table Setting- Using What You Have
I love a simple, easy table setting. A table setting with pieces that I already have, all mixed together to create a place everyone feels comfortable and special to be at our table. This table setting actually reminds me of my mom. She always clips sunflowers from the yard and has them on the table in vases she found at second hand stores. I know she influenced me on how I decorate today and for sure influenced the "use what you have" way of thinking. She is about focusing on connecting and loving on her guests than fussing over a big fancy table. She is the most caring person and the way she ... Read More
