Maybe it is the unseasonably warm weather we are having in Connecticut that is making me itch for Spring and changes. Or it could be me feeling off if I don't paint something every now and then. As you know we are making some fun changes coming up in our kitchen. Actually my handy-man gave me a date that he can come and I can't wait for him to get started on the banquette in our kitchen. We also have new roman shades coming for our windows in here. So of course like any home project it snowballs and I decided I needed to paint our kitchen interior door. BEFORE- Gray from Benjamin ... Is shiplap a fad? Or here to stay?
I shared on THIS blog post that we are adding banquette seating to our kitchen. Unfortunately it has not been started....yet. I got a bid from our handy man who hung our track door, front door and installed wallpaper on Finn's ceiling. I also got a bid from a referral from someone who actually read my banquette seating post and his bid was three times the price of our handy mans bid! I got another bid just because our handy man is about a few more weeks out before he can start and I was getting anxious to get it going. But I can TOTALLY wait to save $1800. While I wait I have had time to ... Read More
Maximize every inch in your small kitchen
Hello! I have been asked a handful of times- "what is on the other side of your fridge?" No? You haven't asked that? Well I am going to tell you, I am sure you are totally interested now. It is actually one of the hardest 2'x2' working spots in our home. It really is all about maximizing every inch in a small kitchen, actually a small home for that matter. First I wanted to show you what inspired this space in our kitchen. I found THIS photo from Country Living Magazine. This home has a small kitchen too and a small home actually. I wish I had room for a little desk ... Read More
Kitchen Details- What we keep on our kitchen counters
I just read that to be organized you "don't have to hide everything away." That is so true- having a few things handy out on our kitchen counters has been a huge time saver! Just find the best looking version of what you want out! I change what is on our kitchen counters about daily. Sometimes it is a little tweek here or there and other times it is a complete overhaul. A few things always stay. I took a couple of quick pics this past Sunday after my hubby gave me my Valentines presents because well he knows my favorite place to shop and knows my favorite place in the house to buy me something ... Banquette Seating- Cha cha cha changes in our Kitchen
January was our two year anniversary of living in our little cape in Connecticut. We were quick to make a lot of changes to the home right when we moved in. I couldn't wait to paint the entire house, rip out the carpet in our upstairs, update both bathrooms and tackle the outdated kitchen. We did all of it within the first few months. I really wanted to add some sort of banquette style seating in our little eat-in kitchen. But I was tired of spending our savings on this house and just wanted to be done with the projects. So I made our settee work and created a little banquette with what we ... Read More

We are a family of 5 living in Connecticut and have been for almost two years. We live in an 1100 square foot cape style home. Paleo Pumpkin Bread Recipe- The BEST Recipe
I posted a picture of this Paleo Pumpkin Bread I made on my Instagram the other day and I had a lot of people asking for my recipe. I actually bake with pumpkin ALLLLL year long. I love the flavor and that it is a really healthy baking ingredient. My friend makes yummy paleo pumpkin muffins that my girls request or will drop hints that it would be such great snack in their lunch. I couldn't keep asking my friend to give us free homemade muffins. So I decided to find a healthy recipe and adapt it for our liking. And the recipe below is a winner! Not dry or too dense, you would never know it was ... Read More
Beach House Tour and Retro Kitchen
We were fortunate enough to have made some really great friends right when we moved to Connecticut in 2015. I met my friend Sarah at the Crossfit I go to, one of the best places to make new friends when moving to a new area along with church. Our kids are both the same age and we had a lot in common. They invited us to this beach house that they stay at every summer for a week in East Haven, Connecticut. It is about a 45 minute drive my my home. Last year when I went I was pleasantly surprised at how charming it was! I knew this year I would make sure to take the big camera to take some ... Read More
