This is another first for the blog! I have never done a dining room makeover before! And I really love the idea of a dining room, I think I just like separated space, feels very charming to me. This dining room belongs to my friend Brenda. I met her at our local CrossFit and became friends there. If you remember the entry makeover I did recently, that was her space too. So as you can imagine, the domino effect went into place! I first suggested she change out her lighting! She could have painted the furniture she had, if she didn't have the budget to get all new. But she had some money ... Read More
Bang For Your Buck- Waterlogue App and Under Cabinet Lights!
I have two Bang for your Buck Ideas in the Kitchen! These are both things that will add a lot to your home for not a lot of money at all. I am a believer that the magic is in the details. Not just in our homes but in life. It is the small things that count and add up to big things. One of my favorite church talks is titled "A matter of a few degrees". The talk is given by a church leader, who is also a pilot. He says that steering the plan a matter of a few degrees in the wrong direction will get you to an entirely different place in the world! Not just a town over. That goes with ... Read More
Entry Makeover with Color of the Year
We made-over my friends entry the other day. They have lived in this home for about two years and the entry has bothered her since day one. It doesn't let in a lot of light and the light fixture they had was dated and dark. Also the space was lacking character. Her wish list is to get a new door that has glass to let more light in. Getting a new door is not a priority right now, so she was avoiding doing anything. I am sure a lot of you can relate to that. Thinking that if it isn't going to be "perfect" or your dream entry then why bother? I believe we can all love our homes NOW! With a little ... Read More

DIY Sconces to have Light without Power “Magic Light Trick”
I was SO excited when I figured out how to make a sconce have LIGHT without having to do anything with electrical wiring. Basically magic. A light trick! I had ordered some sconces for the Nursery we just completed for my Sister-in-law on my last blog post. I wasn't sure if we could easily change them to have a plug or figure out how to run electricity to them. Well I came up with a solution that involved none of the above and that cost under $20, done in 2 minutes! We recently removed the header that was above our window seat. Creating the perfect spot to add a sconce above our window seat ... Read More
Friday Favorites starts with Chandeliers
I am SO excited for this weekend. I mentioned in a different post that my husband travels for work in February. THIS Sunday he comes home from his last long trip! So let the home projects start back up again, just kidding...well kind of. So I have a quick Friday Favorites for you and it starts with some chandeliers. Thanks for all your feedback and thoughts on shiplap from my last post. I am thinking chandeliers now for my kitchen and contemplating changing out the chandelier (we have #4 on the list below) for something a little different. Below are some of my favorites, they are all ... Read More
Ceiling Makeover
Thank you for all the love on my post yesterday on all our new bedding details. We are really enjoying our fluffy bedding. We also enjoy the view laying in our bed looking up at the ceiling. Our old ceiling was hard- literally. They were square tiles. But they were not tiles that you could push up and they would move. It was like sheetrock that was imprinted with a tile stencil. We kept debating on what we could do to makeover the ceiling. Everything seemed like too much work or too messy. With a small house there isn't room to take things out of the bedroom and tear down the ceiling. So we ... Read More
Fluffy White Master Bedding
I have blogged about our master bedroom more times than is probably "normal." Every time that I have shared our master bedroom you have never seen the ceiling. It is always strategically cropped out. That is because I was hiding a secret. The ceiling was bad. But now is the day you get to see the ceiling in all it's glory- be excited. And a new ceiling leads to new bedding, fluffy white bedding to be exact, from Boll and Branch. Because I had another secret, that white duvet that we were using was close to 7 years old and starting to show it's age. It was time for something new. Of ... Read More
Hanging Pendant Light DIY
I heard somewhere that an overhead light should only be turned on if you lost an earring! I totally agree. Overhead light can be so harsh, not very cozy or inviting. That is one thing I love about our 1950's Cape is that there is hardly any overhead lighting, forcing everyone to switch on a lamp for light. I fell in love with THESE pendant lights and did not have a spot in the traditional sense of where a pendant light should go. Most pendant lights come without a plug so you have to have them hardwired and that can be very expensive if you don't already have existing power to ... Read More
Family Room with Wallpaper and Chalkboard Wall
We recently updated our upstairs family room with new wallpaper, lighting, rug and a barn track door. If you have been following my blog you know that our home is a 1200 square foot Cape in Connecticut. The previous home owners used this space as a master bedroom. When I was deciding how we would use the home I knew I couldn't take a large room like this for our master bedroom. Now living in the home for over a year, I am completely happy with the decision to turn it into our family room, this room gets used a lot! It also doubles as a guest room, the sofa pulls out into a sleeper. Before I ... Read More
