Kevin built us a Greenhouse in our backyard in November and we have been loving it! I realized I never shared it here and since we just planted our garden, thought it was the perfect time.

We have a great little area in our yard for our garden, and after doing some measuring I broke the news to Kevin, there was room for a Greenhouse too! PS- find my outfit HERE.

I found the Greenhouse online, it was one that came in pieces you assemble yourself. It took Kevin about a day to assemble it, by himself. He painted it to match our house, in Black Top from Benjamin Moore this gel stain (stain and sealer).

It has held up great. In the winter I put some of our plants from inside our house in it, and they didn’t do too well, because I never checked on them, whoops! We even put this Greenhouse heater in there. Still learning the perfect temperature and how to regulate in the winter. But we did put a few outdoor plants that we wanted to keep covered from the snow and those did well.

It’s nice to be able to have all my empty pots, soil and gardening tools all in one area. Keeps the garden area looking tidy.

Our garden area is surrounded by small pebble rocks and cement curbing that our landscapers installed. The base of the green house is open, so we have the pebble rocks as the flooring.

It would be fun and much cheaper to plant seeds for the garden and get them started earlier in this greenhouse. Maybe next year! This year we bought garden plants from a local nursery.

We like a simple garden, nothing too big or overwhelming. We are loving our raised garden beds, three is the perfect amount for us to manage. Our landscapers used these 8′ L x 4″ H Cedar Posts. The garden boxes ended up being 8.5′ L x 4.5′ W x 18″ H. We do have sprinklers built in the garden boxes, that helps a lot!

We like to plant vegetables to make homemade salsa. A salsa garden! There is nothing quite like a home grown tomato! We planted a couple varieties of those. We plant basil by our tomatoes because (we think) they make the tomatoes taste better and keeps pesky bugs away that harm the tomatoes.

My dad made those tomato cages with these steel wire sheets. You can buy a tomato cage, but my parents like to make their own because they are stronger and last longer. They worked really well for us last year!

Jalapeno’s are an easy growing vegetable and produce a ton. Zucchini and Peppers are a summer must, so yummy to cook on the Blackstone! We also plant Marigolds in the garden, they draw in pollinators but also scent masks vegetable odors to keep certain pests away!

I don’t know about you, but I always feel a little bit more cheery after spending some time outdoors. This space just makes our family happy!
