We did some lamp shuffling and evaluating of our lamps functionality this month. Real serious stuff. We live in a 1950’s cape with hardly zero overhead lights, so lamps are essential. And finding the right floor lamp is even more essential. Our lamp situation has been bothering me….you know what I am talking about. They are fine lamps. But not great for the space. Some lights you need to offer direct, task type light or some you need to brighten up an entire room.
When we made-over my friend Sarah’s living room, she really needed a floor lamp (she lives in an older home too). While we were in the middle of decorating, I sent her husband to my house and told him to take our arched floor lamp from our living room and bring it to his home. I have to say, it fits perfectly in their home, the black is the perfect contrast.
I searched on Wayfair (one of my go-to for furniture and accessories) for a new arched floor lamp for our living room. The reason an arched floor lamps works great in our room and in Sarah’s is because it can be direct light and can also light up the entire space. Then I spotted a few other lamps to replace a few others in our home. Perfect timing if you are in the market for lamps with all the Labor Day Sales this weekend. Wayfair as the ultimate destination for shopping a wide variety of home decor & furniture!

Arched Floor Lamp-
Our new arched floor lamp (here) is perfect in our space!!! I LOVE that there is a cover on the inside of the shade, so you can’t see the light bulb. And just a reminder, you get what you pay for. I do think our new lamp is pretty affordable for what it is. It has a nice heavy marble base, so it doesn’t tip forward too much. (Also I decided on this floor lamp, because it had great reviews!)
Above is the arched floor lamp that used to be in our living room. I did spray paint it, but you can find it HERE.
Smaller Arch Floor Lamp-
The floor lamp we had in our master was considered a “reading lamp” or a “task lamp” AKA- not a great light to brighten up an entire bedroom. I gave the “reading lamp” we had in our master to Luke, for his bedroom makeover (sharing that Tuesday next week). Then the hunt began for a smaller arched floor lamp for our master. I went with THIS floor lamp because the shade was a nice light color to brighten up our room and also great for reading.
I have tried several lamps in our master and I have to say I finally got it right! I love it in here. Also had really great reviews.
I did get a new floor mirror for our master too. It was on sale and I loved the design (I will use my old one for a makeover somewhere). Find our floor mirror HERE. It is from AllModern which is another amazing online source for modern and also timeless pieces and is part of the Wayfair family. I love their products and especially affordable pillows too, like THIS one!! All Modern Style has the best modern furniture and accessories from Scandinavian to farmhouse. Really quality pieces for way less! (Plus ships super fast!)
Task Lamp-
We have had the same lamp here for a long time, and I have tried several lamps on our piano. The one we had before was more of a direct light, that was great for reading piano music, but not great for lighting up more of the space. I was thrilled when I spotted THIS desk lamp. It is gorgeous!!! And it is the right amount of light to read music and to add a nice soft glow.
