I received a lot of great design questions this past week and the previous from my email subscribers. I offer this chance to ask me one simple design question for FREE if you are a subscriber to my blog. It is my way of saying THANK YOU for joining my community of readers! I really love the support and nice to see others are interested in what I am passionate about too! Let’s get to your design questions!
Design Question
Nesting with Grace Suggestion
Isn’t it funny how having a big bedroom can be just as hard to design as a small one! I think the best place to start is with the bedding. If you want to keep it all white and add a little color with pillows. Also a rug will pull everything together, I would do at least an 8×10 (you can see my rug sizing tips HERE). Chairs would look great to create a separate cozy spot, like in the inspiration pic how they put them at the end of the bed. A large credenza would be great on the wall opposite the bed. I would look for something in a light paint to break up the wood set. Also if you do get a king bed you might have to do smaller nightstands that were a different color to break it all up!

First of all, I love that you know I do Crossfit:) I don’t even know where I mentioned that. I went back and forth on what to suggest for this space. I would do wallpaper in each of the panels! You could even do something simple, like THIS that looks like shiplap (temporary too!) and paint that entire wall white to match the shiplap. You could also do a simple pattern like THIS or THIS or go with something dramatic and fun!

- First off with the question on what to put above your sofa. I would do a wall grouping. Something to add interest to the walls, it would match the feel of your neat rug too. I like both examples I shared above. (source for image on top) (source for image below).
- I would suggest a fabric ottoman in a lighter fabric and no tufting since you already have tufting on your sofa. Something like THIS or THIS.
- I also would look for different end tables, lighter to break up all the brown and more similar in scale.
Design Question
Lastly I had an email asking for ideas on what to paint her doors. I wanted to share an app that one of my readers told me about on Instagram! It is Home Depot Project Color (if you are on your phone you can download it HERE). You just upload an image of your home and you can change the shutters or doors to any color! I don’t have an entire home shot from reader Kristen. I think a green would look great! Break up the brown on her deck and add some fun. I just painted my interior door Cushing Green from Benjamin Moore (see a picture HERE). Try out that app too!

I missed your live home tour. 🙁 But a professional one sounds so cool. And I’m loving this series of design questions. It’s nice when someone has a similar question I would have asked.
