Graduation Party + 4 Things We Did to Make It Feel Extra Special

Graduation season is such a mix of pride, emotion, and excitement for what’s next. I wanted this party to feel simple but really meaningful. Less about perfection and more about celebrating her and this huge new chapter. If you’re planning a graduation party too, here are a few ideas that made ours feel extra special, along with the 4 things we did that everyone loved.

1. Signed her college commitment letter

We printed a copy of Ella’s college commitment letter (to Hastings College in Nebraska) and had her sign it in front of all of us. It made the moment feel so real and intentional, like everyone got to witness the exact moment she said yes to her next chapter! You could also have guests sign a photo mat around a favorite senior picture or create a Polaroid guestbook with photos and handwritten messages. There are so many simple ways to make people feel included in the moment while creating keepsakes your grad will treasure forever.

2. Decorated

Pennants, banners, and school colors everywhere! We kept decor simple but festive.

I stuck little flags and felt pennant banners into our plants and flower pots, and it ended up being one of my favorite decorations. I love decorating with flowers and plants because they’re something I’ll keep caring for and enjoying all summer long.

Everything made the space feel like a celebration the moment guests walked in.

3. Served her favorite foods for dinner

We skipped anything fancy and just focused on what she actually loves. Having all her favorite foods made the night feel relaxed, personal, and so “her”.

Cute paper products and serving trays were such a simple but fun touch. Using festive plates, cups, napkins, and utensils made everything feel more put together without adding extra stress or cleanup.

4. Played a Trivia Game all about the Graduate-

All about Ella + her future school and state she is moving to. This ended up being one of the highlights of the night! We mixed fun questions about her life with a few about the state and school she’s heading to. It brought a lot of laughs and some really sweet moments, plus I had prizes too!

Our little family surprised her by wearing clothes to her new college!

At the end of the day it was about making Ella feel loved, celebrating who she is right now, and where she’s headed next. And that made it unforgettable.
