When we bought this ranch home in Utah back in November 2020, I wasn’t sure we were going to add a second floor. I originally liked the idea of adding faux dormers to give the front a little more curb appeal. A selling point to help the girls be ok moving from Connecticut and all their dear friends to Utah, was the fact that they would get their own bedrooms. And without adding a second floor they wouldn’t be able to have their own bedrooms AND us to be able to have a guest room. We are all very happy we decided to do the second floor addition and the girls LOVE their bedrooms and bathroom! Today I am going to show you Lola’s finished bedroom, with the most amazing view!

Lola helped me pick most everything for her room. She basically likes what I like. I could have done it all without her knowing and she would have been thrilled. But I kept her in the loop, mostly for fun and for us to connect. (I linked everything I could at the end of this post).

The grouping of art over her bed is my favorite part. Lola really loves to swim, my main inspiration for this room was the color blue and the swimmer girl with the inner tube art. Reminds me of Lola so much. Lola is the most loving child, she reaches to hold my hand whenever we are close. She tells us she loves us at least 100 times a day. Lola is a social butterfly, and loves to be with others but also will wander around the yard, jump on the tramp all while talking to herself. To know Lola is to love her. This room is a reflection of her.

The girls have the BEST view. After the second floor was framed, Kevin was like “their bedroom is way better than ours!” So happy they get to appreciate the gorgeous mountains, can you imagine when it snows???

We had the bookcases and window seat built-in by Innovative Cabinetry. I was actually going to just paint the cabinets in white, but got the idea to do something fun on the cabinets!

I have a bench cushion being made for her window seat, just not done yet. And we have roman shades being made as well!

The cabinets are painted in Farrow and Ball Light Blue. It’s a good blue. One that feels modern and not too juvenile. I continued the same blue on the trim and the doors.

For the walls I did the same color throughout the entire home in All White from Farrow and Ball.

Her little desk area is the spot I hear her talk the most about. She immediately had all her markers and coloring pages set up. The coloring supplies are in baskets and markets are in pots that she can easily access. And more books are hidden in the baskets!

The metal white houses I found at Micheals last year, I put my favorite battery operated candles in them that she can turn off with a remote.

That mouse (plays music) on the top shelf was mine when I was a little girl! And the Dolly Parton print I found in Nashville and just put in a Target frame.

I have had that lamp for about 15 years! I used to have two of them, sadly one broke. I remember saving up to buy them at the design store I worked at, they were expensive and my budget was tight, but I loved them and knew I would love them for a really long time. So neat to see them now in my daughters bedroom! Our home is a collection of old and new, budget friendly and high-end. But all of it together makes our house unique to us.

Lola’s diffuser is perfect for her small nightstand, I even put it on my teen gift guide! You can find it here. My girls use their diffuser when they get home from school and before bed for sleep support.

That neat plant hanger I bought awhile ago, knowing I would eventually use it somewhere awesome. Perfect for high ceilings. Not sure it is available anymore tho, from here. The pot I found at a local plant shop.

All her clothes are in her closet (I will show that soon) and she has clothes in the drawers under the window seat. We didn’t need a dresser for either of the girls!
