Main Floor Laundry Nook with Favorite Geometric Rugs and Lamp Shades

Last week I shared our second floor laundry nook. We have loved having a washer and dryer on each floor of our house. We don’t have a “traditional laundry room”, rather laundry nooks. I realize it is a luxury to have more than one washer and dryer, and we haven’t always had a home or place for more than one wash and dryer. If you find yourself with the space for laundry hook-ups, add one in, no matter where it is. It helps to stay on top of laundry that’s for sure. And gives each person ownership of their own laundry rather than one person.

On our main floor the original laundry room in our 1970’s home, was by the kitchen. We decided we wanted a washer and dryer by our bedrooms. So we added the washer and dryer in the hall that leads to our bedroom.

There wasn’t anyway to get the washer and dryer in our closet without disrupting the original bedroom. So in the hall is where it is.

I will say having our washer and dryer in two “nook” areas rather than a laundry room, helps us stay on top of laundry. We do a load of laundry a day and immediately fold and put it away. No space for the clothes to pile up.

I added these curtain panels to soften the washer and dryer. There wasn’t enough space to add a door on the washer and dryer, but there is a door that leads to the bedroom. We added a beam for the perfect hiding spot for a tension rod.

The curtains can drape over the sides of the washer and dryer. Or we can pull them closed to disguise the washer and dryer. Custom cabinetry made by Innovative Cabinetry Design. Painted in Farrow & Ball Bone.

A favorite thing are these laundry bags that fold flat for storage, and open up to a perfect size laundry bag.

This Tapestry fills the walls nicely and flows nicely to our bedroom entrance.

Right outside the hall to our bedroom is a small hall that leads to Finn’s bedroom and bathroom. I shared how we painted this area green, added wallpaper and wood trim on this blog post.
