Second Floor Laundry Nook - Nesting With Grace

When we added on the second floor of our ranch home we created a spot for a stackable washer and dryer. So happy we did it! It has been nice for the girls to do their laundry by their room, easier to stay on top of it. Hopefully this gives you inspiration for a small laundry space. Or inspires you if you are remodeling or building to add the hook-ups for a washer and dryer to tricky spot or another floor.

The nook for our washer and dryer is in the hall of our second floor. We could have put the access to it in the bathroom, but then it would have been on Ella’s side of the Jack and Jill and we wanted it for both girls. So it is in the hall and it works!

We just added wallpaper to define the space, love the unexpected pop of color. And we had extra wood from our beams in our dining room so we added a beam, that way I could hide a curtain rod and hang curtains to close off the space. We didn’t want a door because it could get in the way. And a sliding door was tricky. I really like the curtains here, softens the space and adds charm.

We love our LG stacking washer and dryer! We have this set in our other laundry space. We have ZERO issues with it “smelling or the door getting moldy”. **It has 5 stars!** I read if your front loader is smelly, it has a lot to do with the type of detergent you use. I read this article that confirmed what several people experienced with front loaders after they switched to an HE laundry detergent like Thieves Laundry Soap.

It took me awhile but I finally found a Narrow Cabinet, 9″ wide (I stacked two). The cabinets hold the laundry supplies perfectly. We can slide them out to get the the hook-ups for the washer and dryer if needed.

And we have a plug for our stick vacuum. We have a SHARK cordless vacuum, and like it way more than a Dyson Stick. (Ours is this older model, had it for over a year).

I decided to hang this drying rack in the hall. I grouped it with art to disguise it a little.
