We are working on finishing our back deck this week, the weather looks like it just might be spring with temperatures about 60. Looking forward to soaking up some vitamin D. Thought we would start by decorating our back door! I ordered our light for our deck about 6 weeks ago and they were installed last week. Love them! And we got a new back door, it was a must-have with our remodel changes. Although I loved our previous back door, the new door is a big upgrade from our old 1950’s door that wasn’t very energy efficient. I originally wanted a dutch door, but the one I ordered was back-ordered until June, so I had to change up my plan. It ended up being a good thing!
Thank you Wayfair for sponsoring this post
We went with an all glass door. After going months with a temporary door that had no windows I was craving light!!! I LOVE how much light it lets in. Such a nice change. We are going to put a sliding screen door on it soon, I will share when we do. Kevin painted it in Tricorn Black from Sherwin Williams. (Find the door HERE).
The Ball Outdoor Lights are from Wayfair, love the back and gold and the unique shape. I saw they are on sale with Wayfair right now and they have a bunch of great outdoor lights for their Save Big, Give Back Sale (they are donating 10% of profits to Feeding America for COVID19 Relief) going on now! You can shop all their sale lights HERE and find our light HERE.
I do like whatever I put by my front door to match what is going on inside. For instance the light has black and golds that flow with the rest of our house, rather than adding another metal to the mix.
These planters are really tall. So instead of filling them up with a bunch of dirt or rocks, (which would make them too heavy) I put some plastic containers I wasn’t using. Some suggested pool noodles or Styrofoam, but I recommend trying to use what you have, even just in your recycle bin! I left them in the planter pots they came in. (The plants are boxwoods from Home Depot). Find cement planters from Wayfair HERE, mine are 27″ tall, find my exact HERE.
I layered a smaller rug over the big one for fun. The plaid one is 3×5, find it on my shop my home page HERE. Click on images below for more rug options! TIP for outdoor rugs- make sure it goes the width of your door and if you had sidelights have the rug go the width of that area too.
I am typically not a big fan of wreaths, but this one looks really good up, find it from Wayfair HERE. Have you started decorating outside yet??
Stunning! I love everything, including the sliding screen idea!
Feel like this could be a dumb question, but what kind of sliding screen door can you put on a single entry? Would LOVE to know!
We are just doing this screen door
Your planter link, “exact here” takes me to your shop page with no info for the planter. Just FYI.
It looks great! Is your door steel? If so, where did you order it? We are in the process of replacing our doors and our back porch door gets beat down by the New Mexico sun. Steel is a must, but I am having a hard time finding a door with that many windows, which is also a much for me! Thanks.
it is wood. That makes sense!
Door is nice but I would have waited for the Dutch door for sure!!! June is not far off and it’s worth the wait in my opinion. There’s nothing quite like a Dutch door.
we decided we wanted more light
