Week 4- Kitchen Remodel

I am still in love with my new tile! You can read what has been done the past week on Week 3
I found a runner for under my sink and dishwasher at Home Goods. I love how it ties in the gold tones that I am mixing in.
 We got our new appliances this past week! You can see my new dishwasher, with my ugly old cabinets. It could not had been better timing, my old one stopped working a day before we got our new one.
 Cabinet re-facing has started. They have taken off all the doors and then they will wrap the existing cabinets in real wood to match the doors, I will also be getting new drawers… that don’t screech when opened. I had THIS company do my cabinets.
 

Glimpse at my new fridge and stove! I had them add a spice rack on the right of the stove, it was just wasted space before and I need every inch of storage I can get.

I absolutely love my new appliances. I really wanted a retro feel, conducive to the homes 1950’s era.
 I wanted to convert to a gas stove, but it ended up not being very affordable to only convert the stove and we weren’t ready to convert everything over to gas (we use oil to heat our home now). I had the ICE MAKER added to the fridge and I think I have gained an hour a day from filling up the ice trays and emptying them (seriously ice on hand is from heaven). I love having the fridge on the top and the room it offers rather than a side by side. The best part is they are really affordable. You can find info on them HERE.

My hood will be replaced with a stainless steal hood. They do offer a matching hood but I didn’t like the knobs on the front. So I went with the one on the left you can find it HERE.
 You might notice I don’t have a microwave. There really isn’t any room for it and I didn’t want it above my stove. We have been microwave free for close to 5 months and there is no looking back! I think I will be purchasing a toaster oven for the summer.
  
 My farm sink was installed this week too. I went with the Dosmjo from IKEA. It was a process for the installers to figure out how to under-mount the sink, I even printed out THIS image. I absolutely knew I wanted to be able to clean off the counters right into the sink without the lip of the sink in the way. They got it to work out and it looks great with my new butcher block counter tops.

Not all butcher block is created equal. I went with a maple wood butcher block that is water resistant, you can find something like it HERE. I had a butcher block in my old home and it was from Ikea, very susceptible to water (you can see pictures of that HERE). I also like the fact that you don’t have to wait a week to have a template made after your cabinets are installed like you do for granite or quartz. 

I went with THIS faucet shown in the picture above from IKEA, excited to get it installed.

 

 Two more weeks left until the final reveal and a lot of little details to finish up. Then my favorite part, the icing on the cake… accessories! I will be on the hunt for a gold tea kettle, unique dishes and dreaming of this SMEG toaster.

    This is going to be amazing! I love that tile and those appliances. Our island is butcher block island and it's the best. I think I'll always have butcher block in a kitchen.

    Love love love your kitchen!!! Is the table top marble or did you paint it to look like that? I’d love a table and couch like this in my kitchen…very comfy area to just hang out in!
