There are lots of us eager to spread Christmas cheer by doing all the fun traditions we cherish with our families. One tradition that our family enjoys is our Christmas Advent Calendar that starts every year on December 1st. This advent recounts the birth of Jesus Christ, I’ve even had it made into a printable to share! Over the years we’ve had some beautiful advents for decor, for fun, to entertain and even tasty advent calendars that make every day a little extra exciting. Sharing a round up of all our favorites!

For our new favorite advent we needed to put up our Christmas Tree downstairs, I also decorated our fireplace mantle in our basement for Christmas. This is my favorite look I have created down here! Always love all the colors. Just makes me extra happy! The kids are big fans of this tree too.

Growing up we had a neighbor that always dropped off a candle that they had painted 24 dots down it, so every day as we read a scripture passage and sang a Christmas song we would burn that candle then blow out to be relit the next night. I still remember how it was so cozy in the evenings, the room being lit by that single candle and the lights from our tree and just loving that time with my family. So, as an adult, I decided to come up with my own advent Christmas calendar for my family to take on our own tradition.

I had these papers with a scripture and a task made to do each day. We have been doing it for 7 years now and really look forward to that time each night to sit down and focus on Christ, the reason for the season. I found these little Christmas village houses that are numbered for a countdown and hangs for an ornament. Inside the houses I put one of each of those advent paper scripture/task and some candy.

The Christmas village houses are so much bigger in person, you can fill with a small treat or trinket. The detail and colors are so darling! We love them! We hung our countdown on our Christmas tree this year. Nice having it all in one spot, but you also have to search for the right day, a fun little hunt.

I am obsessed with this puzzle advent! There are 12 different puzzles, they are each 80 pieces and you open a little numbered door each day. Each puzzle has cute Holiday design. It’s nice you can do the puzzle, put it back in the bag, and then another family member can have a turn putting it together! Or, work on the puzzle together. I found this other Merry & Bright advent with the same thing, makes such a fun, low cost gift for a family or friend!

Ella is really into baking! I found the cutest recipe book that has 24 different recipes for each day! And they are all Holiday cookies, the front has little flaps to pull down as she completes. Or you could even print out 12 of your favorite desserts and make your own countdown, recipes you know and love!

Another cute option is to hang bags or even this cute stocking countdown garland on some green garland or along the stair railing. Find all my favorite Christmas garland here. I have had these little bags for almost 10 years now, but I found these bags on amazon. Fill with your own fun finds!

My mom usually buys the kids the Christmas countdown from Trader Joe’s, the ones that are filled with chocolate (Bluey was on Amazon ). Every day they can open up one flap and find a holiday shaped chocolate to enjoy. They love it. Countdowns can be as simple as a paper chain, a classic chocolate option or it can be a little gift they open up daily. One year Finn had a lego advent, another year he had a funko pop one. He is my child that really appreciates a good countdown. He like to visually see things…like how many actual days until Christmas.

Lola is really feeling all things Taylor Swift. Found this Era’s Tour one, she is going to be so happy about! Love that whatever your child is into, there is guaranteed a countdown for it! Like my nephew is really into cars and we found this Hot Wheels one. My sister is getting her grand baby this cute Fisher Price advent. And I even thought of my friend Laila’s boys who are really into fishing right now when I saw this one full of bait and lure’s.

I’ve had this light up house advent for a little while but found this one similar. I also found this Wooden Countdown House. I hope all these advents gives you some ideas that can start a new tradition in your home to bring some Joy to you and your loved ones this Holiday season!
Thank you for all your work, these are great ideas!!! I’m going to get one of the 12 days puzzle count down and use it for the actual 12 days of Christmas starting on the 25th to do with the kiddos over Christmas break through the Epiphany! I love, love, love it!
Hi Brooke! Did you get the tree with clear smart lights or warm string lights? The link auto selects clear smart lights, but yours looks nice and warm. Just checking!
