The thing I get asked about most around Christmas time, besides gift ideas, is garland sources! I am a BIG TIME garland fanatic and really love garland everywhere at Christmas. I used to buy fresh garland every year, but didn’t like how quickly it dried up and just had to toss it at the end of the season. Faux garland is nice because you buy it once and can use for years and years after! Plus there are faux garlands that look just as good as the real thing.

First of all, to figure out how much garland you need, I typically double the length of my mantel. Our mantel is 9′ long so I use 18′ of garland. I could do a less if I want more of an asymmetrical look or if I don’t want to go all the way across because a Christmas tree or something is blocking part of the mantel.
Garland on our Mantel-

I went for a maximalist look and layered about 10 pieces of garland, most of it is the 6′ Cedar Garland Evergreen Garland on our mantel! I put three nails into the wood (easy to fill with wood filler after) really nails are the only thing that will keep all this garland in place! I think this look is really pretty for Thanksgiving too.

Love how the clip-on candle lights look extra festive on the garland! Ella said it looks like a Christmas tree!
Garland Sources-

- Boxwood Garland
- Spruce Garland
- Cedar and Pinecone Garland
- Flocked Garland
- Cedar Snowy Garland
- Pine and White Berry Garland
- Cedar Garland Evergreen Garland

#1- 6′ Boxwood Garland $30– I have had this garland the longest out of all my garlands. Linked is a similar boxwood garland, I did get mine at Target.

#2- 6′ Spruce Garland $29– I think this garland is really pretty! I have three of these on our 9′ mantel.

#3- 6′ Cedar and Pinecone Garland $29– I like how full this garland is, I only have two here, a third would have looked better, so I cut off half the photo đ

#4- 6′ Flocked Garland $25– If you want a flocked look, this one is pretty, it is on the thinner side, it would be pretty with lights and stockings hung by it.

#5- 6′ Cedar Snowy Garland $78– I think this garland look is my favorite! I like how it is a snowy look, not fully flocked. I have two of the garlands here.

6′ Cedar Snowy Garland I used two over Lola’s bedroom window (see her Christmas room HERE).

#6- 6′ Cedar Garland Evergreen Garland $68– Lastly this faux garland, looks like the real one I used to buy! It has different colors of green which makes it look real.

Last year I layered Cedar Garland Evergreen Garland, with felt garland for a whimsical look (see it HERE).
I absolutely love your mantels every year. The maximalist one for this year is gorgeous. I found a light fixture very similar to your âLumiereâ candelabra at an estate sale last week and will use it on my mantel this season. Your Utah home has become more and more curated and I love all of the rooms. You are very talented!
Thank you so much Donna!!! So kind, thank you!!! Happy you found a candelabra!
Hi Brooke,
