I am excited to show you the Christmas tree tree’s in our Front Room which we call the Family Room too because this is where we gather as a family to read, play and dance. And today is another stop on our Seasons of Home Series hosted by Ella Claire Inspired. I did some rearranging in this room for the Christmas Season and I have to say I love the change! Just moved pillows from one room to the other and wala! viola! tada! A new room!
I keep saying this room reminds me of a giant sweater with all the yarn, felt, fur and texture. Just super cozy and warm- because in a 1950’s house the more throws the better!
We partnered with HomeGoods to share some unique finds we used in our Christmas Tree and Family Room. We have a really great HomeGoods near us, it is packed to the brim and I love that they have so much to choose from. I didn’t really have a plan for this space of what I wanted to do. Until I spotted that little felt mouse- Christmas tree ornament. I wanted our tree to be whimsical, youthful and colorful for our little girls. Finn isn’t into the decor as much yet. Although it took some training and coaching to get him to stop trying to pull the glass balls off the tree! But he totally learned and hasn’t touch the tree again.
That is the coffee table I moved from upstairs to this room. Nice to have a solid surface for wrapping gifts and stacking all the Christmas books. (Find Cement Top Coffee Table HERE).
And I love to use leftover wallpaper for our Christmas Wrapping Paper.
I just got that nativity set (found it HERE). We had one before but it the Shepherds some casualties. So I decided to invest in a really nice one this year that we would use forever.
I found the perfect basket to put our Flocked Christmas Tree in at HomeGoods. I took the stand off the tree and Kevin helped me to stuff blankets and pillows around the base really tight to keep it from falling. I do think it helps that is against a wall.
I have been collecting those bottle brush trees and found the one with the big pearls at Home Goods.
I kept the tree simple with chunky yarn instead of ribbon, I like the whimsy of it with the playful felt ornaments.
This right here is why I create a cozy home. For them. I want them to remember how they felt in our home. And the Christmas Season makes it all the more memorable. Also can they just stay little?
Not to mention the felt ornaments were light and easy for the kids to put on the tree. I had some glass ornaments I have collected over the years I mixed in for a different texture. I found the large pink glass balls at HomeGoods this year.
If I can find an extra spot to mix in more twinkle lights and trees I am all for it. I find one of the best ways to decorate for Christmas is to take out a lot of your everyday decor. That is what I did on our bookcases. Really tried to simplify and only keep things in the room that went with my Christmas look so nothing clashed with the colors in our Christmas tree.
I did pick up those soft fur pillows to add into our Christmas look and these will carry through all winter. Oh and can we just talk about the amazing pink throw? I was in my car and had to get back out to go get it. Because we all know that at HomeGoods things do not last long! I always error on the side of getting too much then I can take back a few things that I don’t end up using. Better safe than sorry! #lessonoftheday 🙂

I love it! And you ar right – it does look sooooo cozy. Really like how the tree reflects the pallet of the room and it does look like one big sweater! Wonderong though, how you maintain the excitment of the holiday if you already have all these deocratios up and it is not even Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving as a holiday and believe it is a really wonderful time for family and feel like Christmas Creep has really taken over! . When I was a kid my parents followed the German tradition of not decorating the trhee until Christmas Eve! So hard to believe that folks are out there deocrating 5 weeks before Christmas! Wondering how you deal with this as a blogger?
Well you are right I am a blogger so I do have to jump the gun and share content to hopefully give others ideas.
For me it is so much work to get it all up so I really like to up early so I can enjoy the season. even before I was a blogger I had it up about mid November and I would host Thanksgiving- it was a way for everyone to see my Christmas decor too! I would like twinkle lights and a tree up all year!
First time visiting this blog. What a sweet home that screams “welcome” “cozy” and “joyful”. As a blogger also, my last 2 posts are about .. the rushing past one holiday to the next . For some of us, seeing Christmas In Nov, is like a blur of holiday rush, cross over and trending commercialism.. For others, they want to extend Christmas as long as they can. I really like Monica’s German tradition of decorating the tree on the eve of Christmas. That idea inspires me. Similar to celebrating a birthday, which is after all what the Christmas story is about. All in all your home is beautiful, warm and happy and we all get to decorate our spaces when and how we want. You did a great job. Love the nativity set and it is my favorite part of your Christmas post. Many Holiday blessings to you and yours.
This is so gorgeous, Brooke! You nailed it-it’s fun and whimsical, perfect for kids but so beautiful as well. I love it!! Would you mind sharing your secret to getting the little trees to look good in the baskets on your bookshelf? I think I might need to borrow that idea from you. 🙂 Thanks so much!
thanks!! I just put two in the one! So maybe thats it?? I did put books inside to raise the height up.
Thanks again!
So pretty Brooke!
thanks Courtney!
Love your cozy room and your Christmas tree! Your tree is beautiful but you have incorporated all the little things for your children! The small trees in the baskets make me smile inside, that pink crocheted throw makes me really SMILE, and I love your nativity set. I know your house is small but its always decorated so beautifully and it always makes one feel welcome and not intimated. Christmas is for everyone but its such a special time for children and making memories together as a family. You always do an excellent job at both.
what a kind thing to say. Really you made my day with all your sweet words.
Oh my stars!
Too many of “My Favorite Things” in this Merry little room to list!
So beautiful! Love it all.
Santa will feel right at home😊
Blessings to you!

Hi, can you let me know the name of the place you bought your nativity set, because for some reason the name of the place is not coming up on my computer, thank you
Yes- it is from Wayfair. You can find it here- http://rstyle.me/n/cukctrb5qwf
Every little bit & bauble is enchanting!!
And it would be great if they could all stay little, a little while longer.
Drink it in while you can.
Oh thank you Shannon!! You are so sweet and I totally agree!
