We have lots of windows and open spaces on our main level living space. We also have lots of colors and patterns! One way I was thinking I would like to connect all our different spaces is by having the same curtain and curtain color throughout. I found some that I love, can’t wait to share them with you! Also sharing how I measure for curtain panels, a Curtain Panel Measurement Guide. I used to work in a high-end design store and we did a lot of custom curtain panels, but they are a time consuming process, sharing an easy online option below.

I went with Homerilla (code NTWG18 FOR 18% off) an easy process of ordering custom curtains. Homerilla can maintain lower prices, with their in-house seamstresses. Plus the fabrics are all Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified (they don’t have any dangerous substances and work well together with the surroundings).
Keep reading for exact curtains we did, as you can see we continued the same look in our family room. The curtains in our family room are long, about 200″ so our curtain rod had to be long, with sturdy brackets (5 here) and with rings that could glide over the brackets. You only need the rings that are open in back and glide over brackets for really long windows. (I used this 1″ Amazon Rod, but if you are doing THESE 1.25″ C-Rings that slide over brackets I recommend doing THIS 1.25″ rod, the 1″ worked but the C-Rings would occasionally fall off).
Our window is 80″W x 84″H. I ordered TWO panels that are 80″W x 90″H. It is recommended to just add 15″ to each side, so have coverage when you hang your rod 10″ off the window. Previously I had three panels on either side of the window to create enough fullness as these custom panels do. When you think of it I wasn’t saving any money, essentially it was the same cost to get the same look.
Drapery Measrement Guide-
You can actually use Homerilla Curtain Panel Guide and it calculates everything for you!
The curtains are custom linen, in Pale Blue Aqua, french pleated and also have blackout lining (180 gsm White Grey). The pleated panels also come with adjustable clips and rings to hang. Blackout curtains have room-darkening features built into the fabric, they are perfect for bedrooms, but I do like them in my other spaces! They make for a thicker fabric, and a consistent look when they are partially covering the window.
You can order a sample book if you are unsure on what you want!

Family Room Curtains-
I hung the same curtains in our family room. We installed one long rod over all of the windows and our glass doors. The total width of the windows are 200″W x 80″H. I ordered three panels, 88″ tall, and 100″ wide, so they would all be equal width and really full.
Our curtain rod here is 8 inches above the window. I like my curtains to be hung higher than the window, but also not too high that there is a large empty wall between the top of the window and curtain rod. We hung the rod 10 inches to the side of the window. Hanging your curtains off the window makes the window look bigger and doesn’t block any of the window when curtains are open.
This is what it looks like when we close the curtains! Fully blocks out the light with the blackout lining. Also love how they are still nice and full when closed, not too tight.
