For Friday Favorites today I had to jump on sharing some Fall ideas. I took a poll in Instagram stories and 81% of you are ready for Fall! That surprised me! Fall decor doesn’t mean go to the nearest home decor/hobby store and buy a bunch of faux pumpkins, signs, faux leaves etc. Or bringing up a container from the basement with a bunch of accessories that you add on top of what you already have. I searched online for common trends I noticed for Fall Home Decor this year- 2018. There is definitely a strong Fall Trend. And oh yes, it makes me very excited! What about you?? But not ready to end the days at the beach.
Fall Decor means to me-
- Painting or spray painting something
- Not just adding more- putting away summery home decor or moving things around from room to room to make space for a new look
- Find a few new pillows and throw blankets OR bring up pillow covers you saved from last fall
- Bringing some outside in

Fall Home Decor Trends 2018
1- Oversized Florals and Oversized Everything
Oversized floral patterns are big trend and especially for fall. An idea would be to switch up your duvet with THIS floral one. Or Adding one floral pillow to your sofa or bed. You could get really bold and wallpaper a section of your home with THIS black and white large floral pattern.
2- Ambiance
Easy way to add some Fall-hygee home decor is with twinkle lights, candles and lanterns. This might be one of my favorite ways to bring in fall to your home decor, cozy warm glow.

3- Textures
I pack away all of my chunky throw blankets, pillows and anything that feels heavy. I get so excited to bring back out again in the fall! My recent texture purchase was THIS chunky knit pillow.
4- Darker Color Palette and Jett Black
I think that black should make an appearance in every room. Even if it is just one accessory. It really adds some depth and contrast to the space. The way that mascara and eyebrows do to a face. Really love the look of THIS throw with the tassels for fall and THIS 24″ black pillow cover. Another way to bring in a darker color palette is to paint a door or go bold and paint a room! You know I still love our wall color- Gray from Benjamin Moore.
5- Gold and Natural Tones
Gold and natural tones can be mixed in your fall decor with jars, candles, wood tones, throw blankets and pillows. Love an amber jar filled with branches from the yard. Like THIS one.
(Our porch last fall with lots of gold tones and below when I layered a scarf to hang the wreath)
6- Blush and all the pinks
Think of blush like a neutral. It really blends in nicely with so many different looks. You could start by adding in a throw pillow or a vase. OR go bold and paint an accent table or piece of furniture!

8- Branches and plants rather than pumpkins
I saw this in Elle Decor Magazine to think of using branches rather than pumpkins. I would add in mixing in plants in contrasting pots will make a statement for fall. Did you know you can order plants online? I found the plant below HERE. You can also pick a plant based off of the type of lighting you get in your home.

9- Plush Fabrics- Velvets
I love to bring out a velvet pillow or two for my fall home decor. OR changing out your light summery curtain panels for velvet would give a dramatic change!

10- Hand made- vintage decor
All about this trend. Look for unique pieces at flea markets, second hand store, or even hand-made items from Etsy. Love the oversized wheat wreath below. Or the “Hey there Pumpkin” to greet your guests! Also they have two sizes, always go bigger!

That was fun to look at our home from last fall and how my style has even changed from then! I hope that got you excited for Fall too and start looking around your home for what you already have or jump on ordering a few new things to mix in. I will be sharing some Fall changes next week- going to work on a few things this weekend since rain is in the forecast here in CT.
Below are some Fall Clothes I just got in the mail yesterday and LOVE-

I love your home so inviting and homey. I need advise pls. I have several lanterns all shapes and sizes any idea where and how I could gather these for fall decorating. I love them but just can’t put together anything.
Thank you,

I saw wall lantern hooks! Have you thought about that? I just love candles in them….. but a plant would be great too!
So fun on a front porch!
Can I ask in the walmart jumper what size you bought? Also the amazon shirt. I’m new here and not sure what your “normal” size is. And what shoes would you wear with that jumper? Looks so cute but not sure if I can pull it off!!
YES! I bought size small- I wear size 4 pants. The amazon shirt I typically like clothes loose- so I bought in medium, (I am in-between small and medium) and it fits great!
