I am a little late sharing my Friday Favorites today. We have had a rough week with Lola getting her tonsils and adenoids removed. Just as everyone said (I hoped would skip Lola) day 7 and 8 were the worst and nights are the hardest. But we are on the up swing and this morning she ate a pumpkin pancake and drank a lot and I started to tear up! Such a blessing to have healthy kids. I cant even imagine a terminally ill child, my heart breaks for those going through such experiences.
I did want to share some of favorite things from the past week. Including a little more about us at the end of the post and why we moved to CT from UT.
Lola was around me all week and I loved her sweet spirit home with me, just sad she was in so much pain.
- I loved THIS bathroom remodel. It is amazing transformation!
- I fell in love with THIS rug that she used in that bathroom. Trying to decide where I can use it!
- Speaking of bathrooms. THIS bathroom remodel was just so charming too. It is timeless, the size reminds me of our tiny bathroom I shared on Tuesday HERE.
- And one more bathroom I spotted this week HERE. Loved the shower door on this one.
- I am really into this seasoning from Trader Joes called Everything Bagel. Have you tried it? I added it to soup last night and it was so tasty. We season our chicken with it and my friend said she loves it on eggs.
- I bought THIS blanket at Target yesterday, I wasn’t there looking for it, it found me:) seriously I had to get something for my daughter and I could’t leave without it! Love the tassels on the ends and the price! I am going to put it on my bed.
- Mothers Day is this weekend. I have to admit I am a little bummed my husband will be out of town and I won’t get to see my mom. But I am SO thankful I am a mother, I know it is a gift that not all will get to experience in this life. With that being said I am going to make sure it is an easy, fun day. I want to make THIS Paleo Chia Seed Pudding recipe so it will just be ready when we wake up. If you want to try another overnight easy recipe check out THIS overnight french toast, seriously the best recipe!
- A couple of weeks ago we had family pictures taken by Laura Barr Photography She is so talented and such a sweet person to have taking your pictures. I thought I would share them here and a little bit more about us, because my family is my most favorite thing!
We have been living in Connecticut for almost three years. It has really flown by. We moved from Utah for my husbands job. He was working with Real Salt Lake Soccer, an MLS soccer team as their Assistant Athletic Trainer. He was offered the position as the head Athletic Trainer for the new MLS team in New York called NYCFC. We decided it would be a great experience for our entire family and a good career move for my husband. Now you know what we spend our weekends doing…all about soccer. It has been fun because his team is playing their games in the Yankee Stadium, while their new stadium is in the works.
I was working at a high-end design firm as the store manager and buyer. I had been there for 15 years. I loved it so much but was excited at the opportunity to stay home with my kids. I have to say how grateful I am for this experience of living on the East Coast and being home with my babes (I will have to share on another post all I have learned from it).
We really took our time deciding if the move was right for us. So in the end we said yes to the move. And downsized from 3000 square feet to 1100 square feet. Connecticut is an expensive place to live! And we chose location over square footage and have been so happy with the decision.
I can remember I came across this talk that spoke directly to me. I had been praying for a confirmation that what we were doing was right and it came to me in that talk.
“We are not here in this life to waste our time, grown old and die. God wants us to grow and achieve our potential. Just because things are going well does not mean that we should not from time to time consider whether there might be something better.” Carlos A. Godoy
Wishing you all a Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!
Lovely post and beautiful family!! Happy Mother’s day!!
Thank you Tara!
I love your blog and your design esthetic, and admire all of your innovative ideas on life in a smaller home. We are seriously thinking of downsizing (we are retirement age) and don’t need all of the steps we have in our current home. Thanks for all of your wonderful ideas!
You have the cutest family!! It is wonderful that you are able to be at home to enjoy them!!
Have a lovely Mother’s Day weekend!!
I really have LOVED a smaller home and want nothing bigger except a bigger kitchen 🙂
Thanks for reading and happy mothers day to you!
Hi!
My daughter (7.5yo) had the same surgery on April 11th. Today we celebrate one month! So I know what you went through……. And those thoughts about how parents of ill kids deal with that daily……. My heart was just about to break when she squeeked and pulled her ears and asked for more painkillers when it was not time yet…… 🙁 but now, all pain is gone. She sleeps so quite – I have to come close and check if she is even breathing. She got some virus around helloween and since then her tonsils were enormous causing her sleep apnea. She had never strep throat. But developed abscess in her throat and spent 5 days in hospital on Xmas time. The surgeon said that her tonsils grew into her neck muscle on one side and next abcess could go to bloodstream…….. Goodbye tonsils and adenoids!!!!! 🙂
Good bless Lola and all your family!
Happy Mothers Day !!!!!????????
Thank you! You too!
oh my goodness, what a blessing it was to your daughter to get her tonsils out! Lola was the same with sleeping and would get sick more than Ella. The doctor said they were very large for her, so it was good we did it. BUT it is brutal for them. Never imagined I would be force feeding her a smoothie!
Thanks so much for reading:)
What a beautiful post! So nice to see your family and hear a little about you. Everything is gorgeous, as usual!
Thank you Linda. I appreciate that:)
Thank you so much for that quote! We are in the process of moving from Oregon to Florida. We are so excited & know this is great opportunity for our family, but some days the decision can be overwhelming. I’m seriously going to frame it and hang it on a wall in our new home. ;).
That is a big move too! I am so glad you liked it, it helped me a lot. I read it daily and sometimes several times a day.
hey girl- love the post! great pics! so cute! Have a great Mother’s Day!
Thank you Shawnna!
I got tearful reading the sermon that you posted. I think you must be a wonderful and caring mother. I have enjoyed all your posts and your family is precious _ Happy Mother’s Day!

Love seeing your beautiful family and hearing more of your story! And thank you so much for the sweet bathroom shoutout, I really appreciate it!!
Thanks Brit! Seriously amazing bathroom!! I cant believe you guys did it all on your own too!
We moved from Pittsburgh, PA to the Charleston, SC area 7 years ago. Nothing was wrong in Pittsburgh, but we were just ready to shake things up and have a change. We tried for kids for a while and made our peace with not having them, but we were ready for something new. We thought if I could find a job, that would be our sign (my field is a little tougher to find work in in the southeast). But it worked out! There have been bumps along the way (actually hated the company I moved to work for once I got here), but it has all worked out in due time. Prayers answered, just when the timing was right (not always when I wanted). 😉 Moving does so many wonderful things though- helps you meet new people, forces you out of your comfort zone, appreciate your past and your present. I am so grateful our move was the right one for us (and believe that many signs pointed us here as we tried to decide), and I am glad yours has worked out too. It is such a leap of faith, but it can be so worth it. I remember a quote I saw once “It’s better to look back and say ‘I can’t believe I did that’ than to look back and say ‘I wish I did that’. 🙂
Happy Mother’s day!
I love hearing your story! And I agree with everything you said about moving, so many good things out weigh the hard times.
And I love that quote.
Love your story!!! We moved from a small home to a 4,000 square foot home on 8 acres and let me tell you…it’s just as hard. I do love my new home and we have exciting plans in the works, but I would take my smaller home back in a heart beat, too. Do you miss your larger home? Now, we rent out our smaller home and sometimes I want to ask the renters if I can move in for a week and not clean as many rooms, etc. (They would think I was a bit nutty, for sure) 😉 Thanks for your inspiration, decor, and diet info. today. I am learning so much about the junk in our foods from my nutritionist in Boston. It’s been eye opening!!! In a nutshell, you’re awesome and I wish you and your beautiful family THEEE BEST! God is good!
Hop on over and say, hi! I’m on instagram @breezygreenhome
Where in CT are you? I stumbled across your insta a while ago and have been following it ever since but didn’t know you were in CT. It is an expensive state but so convenient to everything! We live in Hamden, in a charming little neighborhood called Spring Glen.. next to New Haven. I work at Yale and also Stamford from time to time. Fairfield County is definitely more expensive for real estate than New Haven county but we love New Haven county! CT has a lot to offer . Welcome to the State!
We are in Fairfield by Penfield beach. We love being close to NYC and have been and seen so much. Thanks for commenting and following along:)
Wonderful pictures! Enjoy your Morher’s Day!
thank you! And you too!
You have such a beautiful family, loved hearing more of your story! Praying for a speedy recovery for Lola.
Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
(Ps. Made your paleo protien bites-amazing!)
Hi Christa! Thank you so much. YAY! Thanks for telling me you made them, so glad you liked them!
