Little late on my Friday Favorites. I made a commitment to myself to do a Friday Favorites every week for a year and I do not want to miss one. There are some fun things I want to share with you for this week. I had someone do a hand drawing of our new exterior! I LOVE it. Such a wonderful unique gift. A custom painting of the exterior of your home would make a great Father’s Day Gift! Something very unique and thoughtful. Or of your childhood home for your Father.
I had a couple days with low energy and Finn felt a little harder than normal (2 year olds!) I decided to just let it go and give myself that nap or rest I needed. I hope you give yourself some grace too. I am running in a half marathon on Sunday and honestly don’t feel prepared. Mentally I feel like it is taking up space in my brain. I do CrossFit 6 days a week and have done just one long 9 mile run. So let’s hope it is enough to get me through the finish line. I have to remind myself that “done is better than perfect” because I typically don’t like doing things if I know I won’t do well. And that is not a good attitude.
Ok onto my Favorite Things from the week and a Fathers Day Gift Guide….
I mean that pink door? Looks even better in a painting! I was tempted to ask her to draw our home with a black roof! I might need a follow up painting when we change the roof (probably next year).
Have your own custom home portrait made HERE from Katie Harris (she offered 15% off to my readers use code NESTINGWITHGRACE15)
Remember from THIS home tour that Marybeth had all four of her homes framed? It was a gift to her as well…
One year I had a photo of the kids and Kevin at the Zoo turned into a painting. This would also make a cherished Fathers Day Gift Idea! (Find that post HERE).
I thought for my Friday Favorites since it’s about Fathers Day, I would share more about my favorite person, my hubby, Kevin!
Yes, he is always smiling and happy. I really can’t tell you a time when he was down or a time when he is grumpy or moody.
He works for a Professional Soccer Team- NYCFC as their Medical Director. He overseas all the medical needs and works directly with the team doctor if needed. He is the guy who runs out on the soccer field if a player goes down. He is the guy who talks with the coach about the health of a player and their ability to play in the game. (You can spot him on TV when they have a game! There is one tonight).
All of their games are played in the Yankees Stadium. It is neat to watch after the game as they quickly remove all of the grass off of the baseball diamond. A lot goes into making those games happen! We go to all the games. It is about a little more than an hour drive (more with traffic).
He has a part time job as Nesting with Grace’s Project Manager (best job ever, if you ask me!)
And the best job of all, loving, attentive Father to our babes.
He helped me come up with this Fathers Day Gift Guide (getting him the Power Washer)
Fathers Day Gift Guide-
#1- Jogger Pants – (Kevin LOVES these and pulls them up over his calf like a capri)
#2- Flag Tee- I had a lot of requests for Kevins Flag Tee (that is old) I found a similar one! Great TEE for summer.
#3- Star Socks- And they need a pair of star socks too!
#4- Adidas Running Shoe- Kevin has these and says they are comfy but also look great to wear as a casual shoe.
#5- G-Shock Watch-This watch has been with Kevin for a couple years now. Best watch for an active guy!
#6- Custom Home Portrait-Same custom home portrait that we just got. Love this idea for your dad’s childhood home or current family home.
#7- Giant Jenga – (also found it cheaper HERE)- Ok totally going to get this for Kevin. We love to be outside and playing games!
#8- Corn Hole- This has been on my Dad’s wish list so I ordered this for him for Fathers Day. I made sure to do regulation size (some at big box stores are not regulation size, so that is why they are less expensive).
#9- Power Washer- (2400 reviews and almost 5 star)- Kevin wants this for Fathers Day so I did my research and this one seems to be the best!
I hope that gave you some ideas or at least got you thinking so you aren’t stressed looking for a gift the day before (like is often the case with me).
Have a great weekend!
Now I want to have a custom painting done of our house!
I’ve run 6 or 7 half’s and my fastest was the one where my longest training run was 8 miles and my workouts were CrossFit or Insanity. You’ve got this!
So is Kevin an athletic trainer? (ATC) I used to be (before kids) so it made me excited to hear about such a similar job!!
Thanks for all the great Father’s Day ideas and telling us more about your family. 😁
Thanks! Yes! Good for you!!
Great post! Love all the ideas from you and Kevin! He does genuinely seem like a happy person, as do you! What a fun household to grow up in for your kiddos. What kind of degrees does Kevin have or schooling needed to be a medical director? I’m always intrigued about stuff like that :-). Good luck in your marathon! You will do great no matter what!!
-Lindsey

Hi Brooke – This really has nothing to do with Father’s Day, but I remember when you were looking for ideas for April vacation.
I just wanted to let you know that next Saturday, 9 June is CT Open House Day for Museums. Many museums, historical homes, etc either have free admission or greatly reduced admission. There is even a $5 boat ride on the CT River and free rides for kids on the steam train. Here’s the link: http://www.ctvisit.com/connecticut-open-house-day-june-9-2018
A great way to explore the state and history!
Thank you Libby!! I am totally going to do this since Kevin might have some time off!
I have been wondering what Kevin does for a job, since he seemed to be around a lot during the day, lol. You guys seem like you make a great team!! Love the Vans shirt!
Love the house painting, it is fabulous. Dont forget I need your promo pic now.
Just FYI. I clicked on the link for the sprayer-washer and it doesn’t work. You might want to check it out.
