Are you a no-shoe house? I like our family to take them off but I never ask guests to remove their shoes. Do you? I mean I can see why some people do. Light rugs can be really hard to keep clean! We try not to wear shoes in Finn’s nursery but sometimes we end up walking in with them on. Or Finn will bring a big thing of dish soap into his room and pour it on the rug. No? That doesn’t happen to you? Well luckily I did catch him before it got too messy, but there was still a spot. So I was pretty thrilled to discover a new rug line!
Lorena Canals washable rugs! They have a lot of great styles, smaller scale that can easily fit into your washing machine and blend well with any home decor style.
They also have the fun round pillows that work great as a floor pillow or as an accent pillow.
I like the layered rug look, but sometimes it isn’t that practical. These rugs being smaller scale they are easy to layer, especially in a low-traffic space (disclaimer:)- be mindful of tripping when layering rugs).
- Something that is a big favorite thing, that I literally carry with me everywhere is my SIC cup. I have had it about a year and it doesn’t leave my side. It keeps my water cold for over 24 hours and hot for 12 hours. I got a couple extra to give as gifts. Find it HERE (really affordable, less than the Swell cups).
- The pants I have on in the photo above I LOVE. Find similar HERE.
- I shared in another Favorite Things post THIS new Fire-pit we just got. I can’t tell you how much we love this little thing. I have always dreamed of having a Fire-Pit, but we don’t have a gas line and I really only wanted a gas one (easier and less smelly in my opinion). So I was thrilled when we found this one. I will share more of our back deck once everything arrives. But I couldn’t wait to tell you about this Favorite Thing!
- Speaking of outdoor spaces I have THESE outdoor pillows coming, such a great price on sale! These would be great indoors too! I also did THESE, adding a bit of green to our decor outside too.
- I was excited when a reader of my blog, Tracy said THIS blog is one of favorite things and House Plants. I love hearing from you!
- I just found THIS jacket. It is almost exactly like one I have had for years and it is still a favorite!
- Do you feel like everyone was loosing their minds over Chip and Joanna Gaines new line at Target? Not going to lie, I am pretty excited too! You can see a little peek HERE if you missed it.
- I am starting a Paleo Challenge that starts Monday the 18th! Basically it is like eating Whole30 for 6 weeks, no sweets. I love doing this challenge because it helps with my performance in the gym and gets me back on track. I ordered my favorite drink, in my favorite Peppermint Flavor HERE. This really helps to curb my sweet tooth. If you like dark chocolate then you will really enjoy this drink. You can sweeten it if it too bitter for you. I like it as is. You will need a coffee maker or I use a French Press.
This week I chose not to join in on the Blogging Group for Seasons of Home. They were sharing their Fall Table Settings. If you are a reader on my blog you know I keep it pretty casual and I don’t have a dining room. And I really never host in our small house. But that should not have stopped me from sharing- I think it doesn’t have to be the same to be shared. That is why I loved my friend Jen from City Farmhouse. She shared a great tip on floral arranging for the tour.
You can find her really great tip, that I had never heard of before HERE.
The Inspired Room was a guest on our Tour and I loved the little peek into her gorgeous kitchen too. See the rest of her Fall ideas HERE.
Also I always love Ella Claire Inspired table settings, see the rest of the Fall Tours on her blog!
I will be back to join the tour and share our front room for Fall and our outdoor spaces the week after. I hope you all have a great weekend! (PS I am answering your “Ask a Designer” questions on Monday! If you are a subscriber to my blog you can submit one just by reply to my subscriber email I send out or subscribe HERE.
I have to admit, I noticed right away when your blog wasn’t on the list of tours this week. I thought the same thing, though, that you don’t tend to do elaborate table settings and clutter up your space. I’m the same way, something simple in the middle and room for my family-that’s what makes it beautiful. But any excuse to see your house I’ll take- so you were missed. :).
Oh thanks Clarissa! I appreciated being missed xoxo
Love your home!
thank you Gayle and for leaving your comment!
Love your posts – your kitchen floor got me motivated to find similar for my girls’ bathroom redo. Thank you for all your inspiration.
really! I love to hear that! and thanks for your comment submission;) xxxx
As always, Brooke – love your style! I think I’m going to try the rug layering! Happy Friday!
Thanks Lisa! And for your comment submission;) xxxx
I love your posts too, and am glad I finally joined your e mail list. Thanks for sharing your favorite things, and where you get stuff. Very helpful! Have a great weekend.
YES! Thank you Kirstin for joining my email list! That means a lot.
Thanks for your comment! xxxxx
I love that you have a house that is on a smaller scale, I feel like it is relatable to quite a few people. Bigger isn’t always better! One thing though, go ahead and host- people always find a spot to hang out! And you really shouldn’t keep that gorgeous house to yourself 😉
You know what, you are exactly right. I should host more. We do in the summer. But that should be a goal to invite more families over in the fall. Thanks so much for your comment!
Hi Brooke! Thanks for the shout out!!! I was thinking I wanted to get a fall jacket and that jacket is exactly what I had in mind. Thanks for sharing!
YES! thanks for your email! I loved it.
You will love that jacket!
thanks for your comment!!
Oh Brooke! I need that little “fire pit”. That’s awesome. I dislike smelling like a campfire.
I’m finally embarking on my kitchen remodel. Your blog has given me inspiration!
Thanks Christa! Yes, your girls would LOVE it!! We sat at there the other night and read scriptures, it was pretty perfect.
YAY join your kitchen! Can’t wait for pics!
thanks for your comment xoxox
Concerning wearing shoes in the house. When my son was growing up and now is 48 years old we always took our shoes off when we came into the house. One day after coming home from work my son’s tennis shoes and several other pairs of tennis shoes were parked by the front door. I had never asked his friends to remove their shoes when coming into the house. I am not sure if he said something to them or if they just followed his lead. I also want you to know I really enjoy reading about your home and family.
Thanks Betty! Exactly. I don’t think you have to ask. Most people ask me if they want me to take their shoes off. I always say whatever you feel comfortable with. But I should say I will tell all the little friends to take their shoes off after playing outside!
And thank you so much for your comment xxxxx
I just love your blogs. I feel like I know you! ? I totally agree about taking off shoes before walking in to the house or kids room!! We live in a small town in Texas and all we have is a Walmart…… so EVERYONE goes to Walmart. So by the time I get home, I can’t take my shoes off fast enough from all the germs. ? But, I try to keep a good prospective. When I go to someone’s house that asks me to take my shoes off, or even if they don’t and I just see a collection of shoes at the door that makes it obvious, the house feels cold and I inviting to me. ?
I love that you said that! I try to be real:)
I get it about the germs 100%! I agree on that.
And I like that to take a que from the homeowner!
Hey I am going to start the challenge with you on the 18th!
You are!!?? YES!! I love that!! Seriously. I am doing this challenge with my gym. This is the website- and this page is super helpful on what you can eat. Or just color Whole30!
https://challengeseries.lurongliving.com/champ17/page/food-summary-chart
yes, I am so in. Tried to get my whole30 started earlier this month and hurricane irma came and threw that out. On it day 1!!!
Thank you for the link. Looking forward to completing these 6 weeks!
oh man! Did your home get damaged?? I hope not!
Thank God it didn’t. Minimal foliage damage!
How’s your challenge going?
It is going good!! Except my friends brought me Levain Cookies from NYC and I had a bite! Other than that no cheats this week! How about you?!
I love your home! I have bought items in my home only because they reminded me of something that would be in your home.
Really?! Thank you Tani!! I love that and thanks for your comment:) xxxx
hey girl- great post! Y’all have a great weekend!
thanks Shawnna!!
I really do enjoy reading your Friday Favorites every week! I feel like it’s such a good way to learn about some wonderful, useful, helpful things. One of my favorite finds for this week is a candle from World Market, “Clementine & Honey”. I’m pretty easy to please as far as candles go, but it really is a nice subtle “fall” smell and it’s great how a $4 candle can have a pretty big impact on a space. Thanks for all the lovely home inspiration you provide, you are so talented!
Oh that is a great favorite thing! Thank you so much for your comment Kara and subscribing to my blog!
I really appreciate your kind words.
Your leopard shoes! I love them! Where did you get them?!
Thanks! Here you go for the leopard shoes- http://rstyle.me/~a6kEd
