Are you ready for a little Fall Decor now? It is officially Fall in my eyes. My girls walked in from school the other day and Ella, my oldest said “It feels like Fall in here, good job Mom!” (this Family Room is the first room they see off the bus). She just knows how to make her mom happy. I love that she said it “feels” rather than “looks”. Fall is a feeling. I am happy to be joining Ella Claire Inspired and her blogging tour again this week for Seasons of Home. Today is all about our Family Rooms and the simple touches we add to create that Fall feeling. Let’s get started!
Our Family Room is small or we like to call it cozy. It could also be called Front Room or Living Room. If you are new here, our home is a 1950’s Cape in Connecticut that is 1100 square feet. So our Fall Decor can’t overtake our home. Little touches like a fur throw on our piano bench goes a long way and real pumpkins mixed in throughout the room.
I have to say I LOVE my new Temporary Wallpaper, when I picked it I had Fall in mind and I love how it goes really well with the season change. I also moved some of my art around, moved paintings that felt a little bit more like Fall, easy simple change. Use what you have!
This is going to be a real-life Fall Tour for you. I don’t like to stage anything. I used to. I would change out our cocktail table decor to look more like a magazine when I shared pictures. Believe me I LOVE the blogs that do look like magazines too, but I have to stay true to us and what it really looks like. Especially with little ones around. Hopefully it will give you inspiration your your real-life home.
A bowl of twinkle lights and a candle burning are an easy way to add the feeling of Fall.
I had my husband pick up a bunch of green heirloom pumpkins on his way home from work, he is the best. The guy ringing him up gave him one for free because he felt bad for him;-) But they were totally worth it. I stacked them in our built-in bookcase and they might be my favorite thing for Fall Decor.
THESE two Rug Ottomans are new, they are EXACTLY what I wanted for in here. We needed something soft with the baby boy and girls who like to do gymnastics in here. I also love the dark green and texture. I really like the green for Fall, remember how I talked about Country Living Fall Trend Predictions for Home Decor? Green was a trend, velvet and black accents.
I totally jumped on that trend train with the ottomans and pillows without knowing it! These colors will carry through the winter until Spring….
The only thing I brought out from storage were our Fall Children’s Books. They feel new every year and something we look forward to with every Holiday. I stacked them in a basket and on our ottomans. Giving a child a books is THE best gift, you really can’t go wring with a book.
Because clearly only books can stay on our ottoman with this little 18 month old boy…
This is the room where we play games, dance, read, really do it all. We simply pull out our large Cutting Board and layer it on top of the ottoman to start a puzzle.
Seasonal decor should work for you and your family whatever way that looks. For us it is less is more, because I already have a lot of everyday decor that we love.
If you want to find anything that I have in this room, I always link it all on my Shop my Home Page HERE so it is easy to find!
And that is the end of our Family Room Tour and Finn is on his way out with my pink pillows, I know he won’t get far with only one shoe on.
Make sure to check out my talented friends on the rest of the Seasons of Home Tour. I personally am looking forward to seeing everyone’s Fall Decor in todays post the most!

This room is SO unbelievably gorgeous! Ya know what it is? It’s inviting and cozy. It makes you feel welcomed the moment you enter the front door. The pops of darker colors makes it feel warm without using the traditional fall colors. I just love it!!! And the pics of Finn showing how this room is definitely lived in is the best.
Thank you Clarissa! Your comments give me such a boost! Finn is just always around me, so I took pics of what that crazy boy was doing:) thanks again xxxxx
So charming! Love the fall touches in this room.
Thank you Tracey!! appreciate your comment!
I love your fall decor and your philosophy. Yes, one has to be able to live with their decor and with your adorable little guy tossing pillows and books, life doesn’t get much better. I noticed your ottomans right away in your photos. Great color, texture, and they have function, too!. I have put string lights in glass jars with “stuff:, but I hadn’t thought of putting a bowl of pretty string lights in a bowl. I will have to try that. I do have some small teacups shaped liked squash that look so pretty with a votive candle inside them. The insides of the cups are a creamy color and they just glow when the candles are in them. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Jolene! I love that idea of the teacups, that just has Fallen written all over it! Thanks for your kind comment xxxx
I love that she says it “feels like Fall!” That is the best feeling in the world- a cozy, happy Fall home!
Thanks Kristen and for organizing this!

This is the first time I have been to your blog. I was so excited when you said that you have 1100 square feet of living space in your house! Finally, I thought, someone with a small-ish house like mine. I have to tell you that I really LOVE the wall of shelves with the window seat!
