I have a gorgeous home tour for you today! I found Michelle Janeen on Instagram along with 70k other people who drool over every picture she shares of her California Home. It is full of natural California light and fresh clippings from her yard and area. What a dream to have Olive Branches and Eucalyptus free at your finger tips! Come see Michelle Janeen’s sweet home she has created for her son and husband and get to know her a little bit better.
Michelle Janeen Home Tour-
Michelle Janeen about what she is intentional about in her home-
Neutral, natural light and bright is the design motto I live by.
Michelle Janeen on PAINT-
Our main living area (living room, family room and dining room) is-
Sherwin Williams Natural Choice
It is a very warm and creamy white. Our doors, trim, base boards, kitchen cabinets and bedroom walls is one of my favorites-
Benjamin Moore White Dove
Michelle Janeen on FAVORITE pieces-
I’m currently in love my KT Merry Print Shop and Pixels & Pigment art pieces. I’ve got some amazing pieces of art from these super talented ladies and I love how they’ve transformed my spaces. I also love my Danielle Oakey Shop vintage pillow cases. I think I have about 6-7 of her pillows and I never tire of them!
(I talked about Danielle Oakey Pillows HERE)
Michelle Janeen on what she would change about her home and what she loves-
The number one thing I would change in our current home, if I could, is the ceiling height! I absolutely love vaulted ceilings and feel like they add so much air and space to a room. Even small rooms feel so open and airy with vaulted ceilings. Portions of our house are vaulted but the main living area isn’t and I so wish I could change it. One thing I’ve learned over the past 15 years with owning and fixing up a couple of homes is to love the neighborhood you buy in! The house can be changed but the neighborhood can’t. If you don’t love the neighborhood when you buy your home you will never love it.
Michelle Janeen on Dinner-
We always eat dinner together and almost always at our counter bar in the kitchen. Except for Sundays. Sundays we set the table and light candles and make it a bit more fancy and special. I usually cook 3-4 nights a week and we order in or go out 1-2 nights. Thursday nights is typically a sushi family date night. A few of our regular on rotation meals are- fish taco bowls, shrimp ceviche tostadas and spinach turkey meatballs are definitely a favorite!
I noticed that Michelle shared THIS cookbook as one of her favorites and it is actually one of my favorites too!
Michelle Janeen on five pieces she wouldn’t want to part with in her home-
Photos, my grandmothers jewelry, a couple pieces of art, computers and my family. Everything else is just stuff and can be replaced.
Thank you Michelle for sharing your gorgeous home with us and letting us get to know you a little bit better! You can follow Michelle Janeen on Instagram HERE.
This is a really beautiful space, and I love all the natural, creamy elements that she provides in her home. I agree with what she loves, and what is meaningful to her. There are pieces that I just wrote about on my blog. Those other things can easily be replaced. Janeen also summed it up when she said, “You have to love the neighborhood you choose, or you will never love it”. It’s nice to love all the elements that involve making a home a home. We love our neighborhood, and it makes all the difference.
yes- that is such an important thing to remember when looking for a home 100%!
