We have been on a few international flights lately, and have put together our favorite travel essentials! We learned a lot after traveling to Italy last summer, on what not to do (we brought too big of luggage). We have now been to Dominican Republic and Japan with just carry-on luggage and the same travel essentials, and they worked great! Sharing our favorites below…
Good luggage can make all the difference when traveling! You really want your luggage to improve your travel experience, fitting in everything you need without becoming too heavy or difficult to move around. And of course, it should be sturdy enough that it will protect your possessions. We have really loved the Beis luggage (shared a similar look for less below). I love that each person in our family can have a different color, helps everyone to keep track of their own luggage. It has a built-in weight indicator to let you know if your bag exceeds 50 pounds! We have the carry-on size (fit in overhead storage), along with a bag that attaches to the handle. *I got asked how our Beis Carryon Luggage compares to Away, see below!
The cream luggage (comes in other colors) is my friend Miko’s, it comes with the top bag and cosmetics bag , all for $99. It does not expand, and it smaller overall than our carryon luggage. I wanted carryon luggage that could hold about two week of clothes (with some washing between) so we went with Beis Carry-On Roller Luggage.

We flew on a lot of different airlines and our luggage worked perfect as a carryon. You are only supposed to put one bag in the overhead area on the plane, but there was space on all our last flights (10 flights we have been on with this luggage) except on the last flight there wasn’t a lot of overhead space, and the Mini Weekender fits perfectly under seats.
Finn’s scooter luggage has been such a game changer! It is carry-on size so Finn basically has a ride from the moment he gets out of the car until we are on the plane. The scooter folds up nicely when he doesn’t want to ride it. Or you can take the scooter part completely off. Lots of options. We put in the overheard storage on the plane. *The only complaint is it tips over if the scooter part isn’t straight.

Packing List for Kids and More-
Three Piece Carryon Luggage $99– my friend Miko took this Luggage to Japan as her carryon and she was very happy with it! All her clothes fit for 10 days in Japan. It is slightly smaller than our Beis Luggage and does not expand.
Mini Weekender– We LOVE these! The mini weekender fits under an airplane seat. I like that there is a separate spot for shoes. We also put our makeup in this bag (in this). They fit 2 standard shoes (even hold two of Kevin’s size 11 shoes). I have the Regular Weekender (you can see it in the photo above), it holds three shoes, but doesn’t fit under an airplane seat, I put it above with my carryon luggage.
Carry-On Roller Luggage– these were very easy to pack, smooth and easy to roll, and the carry-on can fit so much in it! A trolley handle with a cushioned, silicone grip. Purchased together with the mini weekender and regular weekender bags. So many great colors. They fit in overhead bins on airplane, not expanded.
Scooter luggage– This scooter luggage is designed for kids age 4-15. The height of the handle can be adjusted in two options: 27.5″ and 31.5″. Finn has been loving it! The only downside if it get’s too heavy it tipped over when not in use, if you kept wheels straight it didn’t tip.
Electronic Organizer– Kevin is our electronic guy, he keeps our phones and devices charged. He has a cord for everything and keeps in all organized in this awesome electronic organizer.
IceFlow Insulated Bottle (code BRAND20 for 20% off)- By far our families favorite water bottles to travel with, spill proof, keeps water cold and comes in lots of sizes and fun colors. There is a clip for lid too!
Hand Sanitizer– The best, hands down! It’s so gentle on hands, smells clean and refreshing, and kills 99.9% of bacteria. No sticky hands after.
Travel Backpack– We just got this for Finn, He loves a backpack for travel. Kevin wore it, but was Finn’s “personal item” for the flight. It’s well made and it has the Trolley pass-through sleeve. Padded shoulder straps to make it comfortable. A large padded pocket for electronics, and easy to clean. We used it as a beach bag when we got to our destination.
Portable Charger– I’ve used a lot of portable chargers and I keep coming back to these. I really love the built in wall plug- recharges itself directly from the wall outlet, do not need to carry adapter and cables for it. Holds a charge for a long time, and charges my phone fast. A universal charger.
Water-Repellent Jacket– I have had this jacket for years! It really is a favorite item to travel with, especially if rain is in the forecast. Super lightweight, comfortable and roomy enough to add a thicker sweater or sweatshirt underneath for colder days.
Belt Bag– Nothing compares to these belt bags. They really are the best I’ve used and found. So many different colors. Sleek and slim, but holds everything you need it to. Really nice for travel- unlike a purse- you won’t set down and lose it or leave it behind.
Toiletry Bag (medium)– This has been my favorite traveling toiletry bag. Holds so many items, leak proof compartments. And the hook is so great to help keep bathroom counters clutter free. I keep it in my Mini Weekender, makes it easy for security.
Travel Bottles– As we have been traveling and sticking to traveling with just our carry-on’s. We have to keep our personal care products under 3 oz. These help us be able to still use our favorite products. They are leak proof, and lots of different colors. We love this little soap container!
Hand Roll Up Compression Travel Bags– These compression bags for travel are such a space saver! Especially when traveling to someone colder and have bulky clothing. No vacuum needed, you just hand roll, and the bag will compress the clothing. Making space for more!
Laundry Detergent Sheets or Molly Sud’s has them!– I could have really used these in Italy last year! Effective laundry detergent sheet that fights odors and stains in any cycle (hot or cold). Washes 60 regular loads. Fragrance-Free!
