It’s that time again! The season has changed to spring and that means so does my front porch. I found a really fun front door item that was my starting off point. Not a traditional wreath or basket on the front door. Excited to show you and see what you think!
Spring Front Porch-
Rattan Plant Basket // Outdoor Lights // Tall Planter // Fluted Black Planter // Flower Bouquet Tote // Wicker Hanging Chair // White Gear Shaped Planter // Banded Grey Planter // Green Watering Can // Gingham Rug // Jute Woven Mat
These flower bouquet totes were too fun to pass up. I love the black and cream color and the shape of them. I wanted to plant live flowers and plants in these to make them last!
First I put a put a plastic bag in the tote to protect it from water. Then I filled it with Perlite (perlite helps soil retain moisture and nutrients) it’s perfect because it filled the base and it’s not heavy at all. Then I added the plants and some soil to pack it in and fit snug. I used Candytuft in the center for some height, then Creeping Jenny and White Bacopa around that as the base that will drape down the tote. I hung one on each door with these magnet hooks.
I layered rugs by the front door. This outdoor gingham black and white rug is what we used on the bottom, it’s a 30″x50″ rug. Then added this jute door mat on top (23″x35″). The swan I found at a local nursery (Cactus & Tropicals) we filled her with Creeping Jenny’s and Hydrangea’s.
I wanted to switch out some pines tree that were making my porch feel too much like winter. Boxwoods are always a favorite for the large pots because I can get them to last all year. This year I decided to do mainly boxwoods in my planters and mix in some matching greens and white flowers.
I love flowers, but I get a little overwhelmed with how many colors and types there are. So I usually stick to the same colors, and try not to mix my flowers so my planters don’t get too wild. Like in this white pot I did all Candytuft.
There are also many different shapes and designs, and types of boxwoods. So even though I’m doing the same plant, they all look so different! I like to group different colors, patterns and styles of planters for my plants. But I also like for them to match by repeating colors. I love these new black fluted pots that I just bought. And I stacked two of these grey banded planters. Both were recent finds!
Make a habit of checking on your flowers and plants at least once a day. Keep a watering can close by to keep your flowers and plants hydrated, especially if they get a lot of sun. Hope this helps get you inspired to refresh your front porch!
