A blog reader recently asked me to share my favorite paleo foods I buy from Trader Joe's! I thought that was a great idea. In the past I have shared a Trader Joe's Top 40 Favorites, but a lot of it I don't actually buy myself. It was a "Most Popular Trader Joe's Items" kind of list that everyone loved. But when I personally shop at Trader Joe's I stand there and read all the labels, some I know without even picking up that the item it isn't paleo. A pizza sauce for instance might have some sneaky sugar in it, even sausages and other foods you wouldn't think have sugar do! So if it is packaged ... Read More
Intermittent Fasting-Why and How I Do It
About 6 months ago I started Intermittent Fasting. I naturally wasn't eating breakfast anyway with the busy mornings we have, so when I discovered more about the science behind "feeding and fasting" periods for the body. I thought I would be more intentional with the way I approached my daily eating window. I am passionate about healthy eating and exercise. I really like to feel good and have energy, plus I am slightly competitive, so Cross Fit has been something I have loved for many years. I have written more about my exercise routine here and what I eat here. I thought I ... Read More
Quick Healthy Dinners- Favorite Things from Trader Joe’s
The other night I was looking what to make for dinner that would be QUICK- HEALTHY- WHOLE30 or PALEO. Did I mention quick?? Because come 5 pm sharp my kids are ready for dinner. And we really want to make sure they get a variety of veggies at dinner. You know how some families do Taco Tuesday or Pizza on Fridays...maybe that is your fun family?? (I secretly want to do that, but haven't yet). We have Frittata once a week, really it is "mom's cooking" so it's either Frittata or one of the meals below. And Trader Joe's is an absolute favorite place to go for groceries, really it makes it fun for ... Read More
Pumpkin Crunch Cake- Paleo and Gluten Free Dessert
When you work with designers everything is elevated to a new level. At the store I used to work at we would do Christmas Parties, Baby Showers and all the parties and joke that they cost A LOT to throw, not because of the actual party but because we would use the party as a reason to redecorate! When I threw a baby shower I used the shower as a deadline to finish our basement kitchen addition. Why do we do that to ourselves? Now the decor was amazing but the food was typically something I would always remember. My wedding shower was in September and Karen who was hosting made a yummy Pumpkin ... Read More
How I Eat Mexican on a Paleo Diet and other Paleo Hacks- Pumpkin Tacos
Chips and Salsa are life! I could honestly eat that for lunch everyday and I would be happy girl. I really don't think I could get sick of it. But maybe that isn't the best lunch option. Living a Paleo Diet you would think chips and salsa would be out of the question. Or even tacos made with a tortilla, not just wrapped in lettuce. When I go out to eat I am always that girl asking the waiter to please wrap my taco's in a lettuce cup or Fajitas with lettuce cups rather than tortillas. But sometimes you just want a tortilla with chips and salsa! Taco Tuesday or Mexican Monday can still be a ... Read More
Paleo Fall Dinner- Paleo Pumpkin Chili and Paleo Bread
I love a yummy, healthy Fall dinner. Especially one that I can make in the morning before it gets crazy at night and everyone is starving. I typically share Paleo recipes on my blog. Because that is what we eat. Now don't get me wrong, we do not eat this way 100% of the time. But it is the goal. My kids do eat all the regular things kids eat (i.e.- Nutella!). But I eat really close to Paleo all the time. I just feel my best self. I know it is not for everyone. That is why I am sharing this EASY Paleo Fall Dinner recipe- Paleo Pumpkin Chili AND Paleo Bread! I want to show you that eating Paleo ... Read More
Paleo Apple Crisp- All Time Favorite Dessert
I am excited to join "Taste of the Season" hosted by the talented Kristin from Ella Claire. This will be a series over the holiday season, a group of bloggers sharing recipes and today is apples! No cake for me on my birthday. Give me Apple Crisp all day everyday! The first year I stared to eat strict Paleo diet my sister (who everyone needs a sister like her) made me a special Paleo Apple Crisp and brought it to my work, all hot and yummy. She had never made anything Paleo and had to go to the store to find things like almond flour and coconut flour. It was so thoughtful because even on my ... Read More
Paleo Muffins- Pumpkin Chocolate and my Top Favorite Healthy Muffins
We are BIG muffin fans over here, paleo muffins that is. Something about portioning out a baked good keeps me from over-doing it. And we love to have muffins on hand for a healthy snack for myself and my kids, they make an easy quick breakfast with some eggs. As you know I like to cook about 95% paleo. I just feel so much better when I eat paleo and I know my kids do too. Occasionally we make homemade pizza, popcorn and cookies oh and our easy homemade bread. If we want to stick to healthy eating, then prep-work is key. I had some extra bananas laying around and I thought I would try my ... Read More
Quick Healthy Green Smoothie Recipe
I shared on my Friday post that I got a Vitamix for Mothers Day and that I would share my favorite smoothie recipe. Smoothies are my quick-go to meal replacement. Sometimes I don't have time to sit and eat breakfast or lunch so making a quick healthy smoothie is a life saver, especially when trying to eat my best and healthiest. I asked my hubby if he knew I wanted a Vitamix from THIS post where I talked about making my favorite Paleo Non-Dairy Ice-Cream. A reader asked what type of blender I had and I told her I really wanted a Vitamix. Kevin said he saw that comment after he ... Read More
Take Home Designer Series- New England Kitchen Tour of a Dietitian and her Paleo Granola
Do you remember the show "Take Home Chef"? It was on TLC. The cutie pie Curtis Stone would approach people in the grocery store and offer to go to their home and cook them a meal. I LOVED that show. My favorite part, besides watching Curtis Stone :) was seeing inside everyones kitchen. I thought it was fascinating to see the space that people spend so much of their time in. That is what got me to go to the grocery store after I had my first baby, hoping to run into Curtis Stone. So this is my version, where I go into charming New England Homes and share pictures of their kitchens. And only ... Read More
