The Art of Layering a Cozy Maximalist Bed

There’s something about a beautifully layered bed that completely transforms a room. It instantly makes a space feel cozy, collected, and full of personality. I love styling maximalist bedding…mixing florals, gingham, ruffles, quilts, and texture. Today I’m sharing four ways I’ve styled my new Nesting With Grace x Anthropologie bedding collection. Each room has its own personality and show that a cozy bed really can become the heart of a room!

Ella’s Colorful Bedding

I always love styling Ella’s bed because she’s loved the same maximalist look as me for years. She was so excited to have pieces from my Nesting With Grace x Anthropologie Collection on her bed, which honestly made this refresh even more special.

Ella already has so much color and pattern throughout her room, so I knew this bedding would feel completely at home in her space. Instead of starting over, we kept her blue sheet set on the bed because I loved how it pulled out the soft blue flowers in my Nesting With Grace floral ruffle duvet.

To add even more layering, we mixed the purple berry gingham shams with the floral ruffle-edge euro shams. The combination feels playful, cozy, and perfectly collected. I especially love how all the colors pop against her posters and artwork. It makes the whole room feel vibrant, personal, and full of personality.

We also swapped out her lamp for the blue scalloped lamp paired with one of my new Nesting With Grace collection lampshades. The blue tones from the sheets, lamp, and light fixture all play off each other so well!

Triple the Beds, Triple the Layers

We have a guest room in our basement with three twin beds that we lovingly call “The Triplet Room.” We recently gave it a mini refresh, and honestly, this may be my favorite look yet. Rug // Chair // Curtains // Curtain Rod // Chandelier // Wallpaper // Gallery Frames // Flower Art

I started with the super cozy green stripe sheets, which instantly brought in that rich, layered feeling I love. Then comes my favorite layer: the Nesting With Grace floral ruffle duvet. It has that smooth sateen feel that instantly makes everything feel softer, cozier, and more luxurious.

At the foot of each bed, I layered reversible quilts. One side features a floral print, but I chose to show the purple, white, and blue stripe side for a more playful look that ties beautifully into the rest of the room.

For the pillows, I mixed purple berry gingham shams with my Nesting With Grace floral ruffle euro shams and kaleidoscopic floral shams.

I especially love the bold black-and-white details, they really stand out! We also hung new curtains with this rod.

Can you spot my new lampshade collection throughout the room, adding another layer of pattern. I love how they help tie everything together while making the space feel even more collected and cozy.

The final look feels cozy, colorful, layered, and perfect for guests.

Heather’s Classic Bed with Rich, Colorful Layers

We planned the entire room around Heather’s bed , making it the true focal point of the space. The bed itself is large with dark, traditional wood, so we leaned into that timeless, classic feel while still keeping the bedding soft, layered, and inviting. Her bedding mixes rich yellows, deep purples, and my floral Nesting With Grace bedding collection in a way that feels both cozy and collected. We started with my organic cotton floral sheets, they’re incredibly soft, and the colors make layering feel effortless.

On top, we added a purple berry gingham duvet cover, then layered in floral ruffle-edge shams from my collection for softness and texture. Yellow gingham euro shams brighten everything up and add that playful contrast that keeps the bed from feeling too serious.

The combination of florals, gingham, and layered texture gives the room so much warmth and personality while still complementing the traditional feel of the dark wood bed.

Sophia’s Layered Pink Bed

Let’s talk about this bed… the dark pink woven slipcover is so soft and beautiful. It grounds the room while still playing into the feminine, playful vibe. We started with mauve gingham sheets in a crisp cotton percale. Cool, breathable, and perfect year-round. On top, we added a soft green quilt with matching shams that has the sweetest pink wavy edge detail.

Then comes my favorite layer: the Nesting with Grace floral ruffle duvet. It has that smooth, sateen feel that instantly makes everything feel more luxurious.

Paired with matching shams, the bed looks full, styled, and completely irresistible. Her girls are already obsessed, they can’t stop talking about how cozy it is!

At the end of the day, the best rooms are the ones that feel welcoming and I truly believe a beautifully layered bed can completely transform how a space feels.
