We are proud home owners of a 1970’s Ranch Style Home…and it is a fixer upper. If you missed it- we are moving from Connecticut to Utah! We actually bought this home a month ago and have plans in the works for the remodel. The “Wallpaper House” we call it, needs a lot of work, a diamond in the rough. My father-in-law (who is our contractor) said, “why didn’t you just buy a new house? Or should we just knock it down and start over?” Ha! You too might think that as you take a gander at these photos….

This was the first time Kevin and the kids saw the house in person…and we already owned it! We had actually put an offer on another home that didn’t work out. I was SO sad about not getting that first home, the girls were bummed too. That was when I realized how ready I was to move back to Utah to be near family. I toured this home when I was visiting Utah for work. It really was meant to be. I should have been home, but I had moved my flight to the next day to finish up some extra work I decided to do last minute. I was up late searching on Zillow when this home popped up for sale. I text our Realtor right way and asked if we could see it before I flew to Connecticut the next day. She made it happen. I had heart eyes just driving through the area! Then when I saw the property, the mature trees…. I was sold.

The home is nestled right up near the mountains, in a lovely community with a lot of amenities that I could see the kids loving. It is tucked away in a private area, but very close to family, friends, and plant shops 🙂

There were just a few things important to us while searching for our new home. That it was close to the school we wanted to put our kids in, that it had charm, needed some love, had mature landscaping, close to family and room for a pool. We weren’t shopping for square footage or brand new.

What do you think? Love at first sight for you? Not for Kevin either, ha! Lucky for him, I can see the potential! His eyes after I FaceTimed him😳😬.

Looks like, whatever was hung on the wall, was loved and treasured because it never got moved. The room steps down, that was the style then. “Sunken spaces”. The object was to clearly outline the space without destroying any sight lines. We plan on leveling the space out. I love this window! So much light!!

This room though!! This is where I fell in LOVE!! Can you see why?

The wood vaulted ceiling has SO MUCH CHARM! And the openness to the backyard had me envisioning watching my kids play, entertaining guests and really enjoying the space. Are you starting to see the potential too?

I will share my ideas and the architect plans for this space in a separate post soon!

I was a little caught off guard by the smallness of that dishwasher! I expressed my thoughts and we all had a good laugh over the fact that it was a trash compactor. Ha!

Can you see why we fondly refer to it as “the wallpaper” house? Wallpaper is my thing…maybe just not this wallpaper. But I can appreciate the style. This was definitely “in” 50 yrs ago! This will be our bedroom, feels so BIG compared to the space we have now! I can’t wait to see the cool windows!

Carpet and toilet. Like oil and water. Nope.

Say hello to Finns room. The look on his face when we first told him was priceless! He might be the most excited out of everyone to move to Utah, so he’s excited for his “green” room now. I don’t even think he cares if we change it. But, we will be changing it!

This is interesting. We are guessing it was a space for the poker table and/or dance floor?!

There will be a lot to love in the future!

They weren’t afraid of color and pattern, which I can appreciate! This is a basement bedroom. We are planning on making all the windows bigger (as big as we are allowed to) in the basement. Needs a lot more light!

We love this driveway! The previous (and only) home owner was a stone mason, you can see his talents all over. Future home for the “Nest 2.0” AKA- our home gym. And… we have a garage!!!! Six years living in Connecticut with no garage, not sure what we will even do with ourselves!

This is the future home of our pool! Excited about the memories that will be made in this yard.

We are going to add a second level on the front part of the house, perfect place for the girls bedrooms. We can’t wait to start the process and take you along!
What a great house! You’ll be “saving” so many homes after your followers see what you do with this home. How exciting for you and your family. Let the new memories begin! Congratulations!
Thank you!!! Ha, I love that perspective!
Beautiful! Best wishes on the move !
I looovve the cherry blossom foil wallpaper❤️What a beauty underneath all the carpet and heavy rock. Can’t wait to see it!
This is so much like our house that was built in the 70’s! We had the avocado bathroom and the green shag carpet and yellow and green wallpaper… formal living and dining but we have made it our own and in the country where we live just 35 miles from Waco, TX! Good luck and can’t wait to see what y’all do. It will be so exciting!
How exciting and I bet your so excited to be closer home with family!! I’m super excited for you all and I can’t wait to see what you do with your NEW home. Congratulations and we appreciate you taking us with you through the transformation😊
Oh my goodness, I am so excited for you! And I am so excited for this great home to be loved and have new life breathed into it. I always fantasize about and literally dream all the time about buying amazing, old ranch style homes and remodeling them. I can not WAIT to see you work your magic!
Wow! Honestly I was grateful when I read “1979 ranch house” – I think a lot of people have to contend with design challenges in homes like these and I am SO excited to see how you tackle them. That is a lot of wallpaper though, and not the peel-and-stick kind! I am sure it will be so beautiful when you finish! How tall are the basement ceilings, by the way?
I am so sad to see you leave our little town! But after seeing this house I completely share in your excitement for the project ahead and know it’s going to be amazing …plus I’m certain I’ll continue to get great ideas and tons of inspiration ☺️. Best of luck to you and your family on this next chapter and always.
Oh my goodness! I can’t wait to see what you do to this gem! I was low key sad to see the last home tour of the CT house because it’s everything I wish and hope my 900sq ft house can be. But ooooohh boy am I so excited to see the transformation on this one!!! This looks like it is going to be fun or should I say “fun” 😉 best of luck!
It’s like a time capsule! Love it so much! It has history and is just waiting to become a blank for the next chapter in your family’s story.
Yesterday I was sad and today I’m excited! I can’t wait to see what you do with this fixer upper. I’m already envisioning your Christmas decor. The room with the vaulted wood-planked ceiling would have sold me, as well. Brooke, you have an eye!
Oh thank you!!!! You went through our emotions too! Sad to go, but excited for the new home and family in Utah!
You can tell this was THE house back in its prime! I cannot wait to learn more from you as you renovate your new home. It’s so beautiful already! So excited for your family and this new chapter. <3
Thank you!!! Totally in it’s prime!! You know they had major style! Bless them ♥️
Ok I don’t know why Kevin didn’t love this house at first sight because I do and I was REAL sad about not seeing your cute kitchen anymore!!
I don’t either! He was like “pass” it was funny because I was SO in LOVE!!!!
Cannot wait to see what you do with this house!
Now it’s very unlikely I can lure you to Massachusetts to redo our house, darn.
Best of luck to you and your family. It will be amazing to live near extended family and those you love.
The good thing about a house like this: even if you just rip out carpet, remove wallpaper, uncover windows and paint…..you will have a nearly brand new house. I know you will be doing so much more, but clearly this is a house with good bones. And very likely it has sheltered other families proudly. Wishing you and your family the BEST possible life in this charmer.
Looks like it will be a fun project and the house is in a beautiful setting. Now, I am chuckling becasue I wonder if the new owner of your house will soon be referring to it as “the wallpaper house”!!! :).
hahaha! Totally!
I’m so excited! I think it’s funny that Kevin bought the CT house without you and you picked this one without him. It will be an amazing home for you guys. Can’t wait to see what you do to it. And yes, living elsewhere during a renovation is THE way to do it!
I’m going to make a couple assumptions/predictions now: the vaulted ceiling room will not stay asymmetrical like it is now. And the girls rooms will be connected by an adorable Jack and Jill bathroom.
Also, question: now that you have a huge finished basement AND a three car garage: would you still really put the gym out in a shed without real heating and air?
Whoops, that was supposed to be it’s own comment, not a reply lol. Sorry
Kevin said that too “You trusted me with the CT house, so I trust you with the UT house”
Has great potential and character. What part of Utah, I like that state?
Thanks! Really close to the mouth of cottonwood canyon
I hiked in Cottonwood canyon this summer while visiting a friend – what a gorgeous area!
I can not wait to follow this journey with you and see what you do to this house. It is absolutely beautiful and has so much charm. I love hte vaulted ceilings and the lighting!
Can’t wait to see the transformation of this place!! I can already tell it will be amazing! I agree with what someone just said also – you will be saving a lot of homes with this project. 🙂
Love following along on your journey(s)! Can’t wait to see what you and Kevin do with this beauty. You may even get a tv show! Ha!
Btw, my son lived in Utah and we loved it! I can see why you want to go back. Best wishes….
I CANNOT WAIT for ALL the amazing content, ideas and creativity this year on your channel, blog, IG, everything
SO happy to for you guys and you know what.. Nothing beats being close to family ❤️
Please leave the wooden ceiling in the great room. I LOVE IT! And for a keepsake, put a small piece of each wallpaper in a picture frame to display in that room!
We are deciding what to do! Good idea on wallpaper!
Yes leave that beautiful vaulted ceiling! So much character 🙌💛
Oh my gosh, you know this home was the bomb back in the day!! It is amazing…. I cannot wait to see you transform this! Ahhh… so excited for you guys!!
Congratulations!! I have adored following your blog/Instagram for the last three years, and I am so happy to see you’ll be moving back to be close to family! Looking forward to seeing how you update and remodel. I am so excited for my house, as I am always using your home as inspiration! 🙂
I love it! I definitely can see the potential! I am so happy for you that you will be closer to family. Excited to see this space transform. I have no doubt you will make it beautiful.
Congratulations! Can’t wait to follow along on the remodel/move. Exciting new memories to make for your family!
This is going to be so exciting! What is the estimated time frame? Will you be doing everything at once, or in stages? Is this home currently a 3 bedroom, (I saw the master, the green room, and the floral carpeted room)? Will be so fun to follow along and join you on the journey. 🙂
I’ve only been following you for a short while but I love everything that I’ve seen you and your husband do together! So happy and excited that you get to move back home while your kids are still in the nest. I know your new home will be beautiful, cozy and look amazing. God bless you and your family, may all the kindness you’ve shown to so many be returned to you and your family!!
I love the vaulted ceilings too. The “carpet and toilet. like oil and water” comment made me laugh. I never understood why anyone would put carpet in a bathroom. I’m looking forward to seeing the house transformation! Congratulations!
Those ceilings! So much potential and space! I can’t wait to see your vision come to light with this project! Congratulations!
Love it! Wouldn’t change anything but the wallpaper and the carpet! I love the wood too.
Oh I do see the potential especially with your talents, it is going to be amazing…..cant wait to follow along.
That family room is going to be a show stopper!
I am so excited for you and your family! I can’t wait follow along with you guys and watch you renovate this home! 😍
That house looked like a total 70’s home. We built a new home in the 70’s and had the same rock work in it! We didn’t have carpet in the bathroom but many did at the time. We did have carpet In The kitchen. We ripped that out within a year 😉 can’t wait to see what you guys do with this home! I know it will be beautiful!!
Blessings to you on this new adventure!
We bought a 74 Ranch Style house 3 years ago in Colorado. A lot of work! We even have popcorn ceiling. New wood floors are next.
We had tons of wallpaper and ugly dark green carpet too. Urine Carpet in bedrooms were pulled up immediately – so nice.
Your house has great bones. Can’t wait to follow your journey!
I see it! I see it! I see it! And I love it! So much potential. I’m so happy for you guys and can’t wait to see the progress. Might have to get back on Instagram just so I can watch in real time. Congrats!
I am SO happy for you and your family to be moving back to Utah to be near family! What a fun adventure!
And I DO see the potential in this house! It’s going to be AMAZING and I can’t wait to follow along with you! I was going to say you’ll love having a ranch but then I saw that you’re adding on a second floor. We bought a wonky ranch (when I was 8 months pregnant with my 5th boy) so we have 2 bedrooms on main floor and 2 in the basement. My teens LOVED being in the basement. It’s a thought for your girls?
Good luck and can’t wait to see what you do with this diamond in the rough! Xoxo, Kelly
It feels like the blue print or your original cape couple fit inside the great room. 😂I say that with love as I live in a 1000 sq ft home myself … I loved watching you make use of every inch and then enjoyed the addition, I know you will make this new home just a cozy. I cannot wait to follow along! Congratulations.
Many people on this forum fix up a house and then just leave. While I don’t understand this passionate, expensive, and time consuming endeavor just left behind…moving closer to family is such a legit’ reason. It will offer you and Kevin endless content in the years to come, which is, after all, what you guys do. The family who bought your house are very luck people. The house you just bought is a very lucky house. Work your magic and thank you for taking us along.
I can hardly wait. This could be an HGTV show!! Congratulations on being back with family. Makes it all worth it.
I love it! I am so excited to see you guys take a home and give it some MAJOR love instead of building (nothing wrong there either) something brand new, I just think more people can relate to this way of living. Can’t wait to see this incredible transformation. Congratulations!
I can’t wait to see the magic you and Kevin create in your new home! Many blessings to you and your family in your new adventure
Love the wood ceiling!
I can’t wait to see the changes you will make in this house. How great to be able to move back closer to family.
What nice departure from the “in” style right now. I KNOW it will be beautiful and that vaulted room…yes!
Ahhh…all that wallpaper reminds me of my house when we bought it, wallpaper in every room and carpet! Love the vaulted wood ceiling, that and the fireplace would’ve sold me! Can’t wait.to see how you make it your own!
I actually don’t hate it at all! That ceiling is to die for and there is tons of potential, especially since you can get it done before living in it. That is a blessing. It will be a terrific memory holder for family events! I cannot wait to see the changes!
What an amazing house, I can definitely see the potential and the vaulted wood ceiling room is 😍 I’ve been following your cape house renovations and am excited to see what you do with this beauty
Oh my heck Brooke I’m so excited you bought this house!!! I looked at it for my daughter a few months ago but it was more than they wanted to take on!! What a dream property in an amazing neighborhood!! The potential! Can’t wait to watch you transform it into what it was meant to be!!!
So exciting!!! Congratulations! I can’t wait to see what you do with this home!!!
Is it currently 3 beds and 3 baths? What’s the square footage?
Thanks for sharing this with us!!!
I am OBSESSED with this house! It’s exactly what we’ve been looking for, I totally have eyes for potential in homes like you do and my husband is a skeptic lol. I hope we find something similar although they’re more rare where we are in CA. I can’t wait to watch you bring life back into this home.
This home is gorgeous! It has great bones and quirky details I love. The masonry, the windows, the swag lights everywhere were such a statement along with the patterned wallpaper (and carpet). I see so much potential. It would be a dream of mine to get my hands on a house like this. I cannot was to see what you make of it. Will the girls still share a bedroom? And what part of the house is the poker/dance floor? I can’t tell because the flooring is so unique from space to space. Congrats on all the cards falling into place and heading back to Utah.
Oh Brooke, it’s so perfect! I’m so excited for you guys!! (And you’ll be closer to CO, where I live!) haha! I’ve been following you for the past 3 years and seriously love everything you do. So pumped to follow along on this incredible home remodel 🙂
This house is incredible! I saw the potential right away too! Your ceilings!!!
Your before and afters are going to be insane!
PS: Is the bathroom tub surround real vintage stone/marble? It looks like it!🤗
I can definitely see the potential. I can’t wait to see what you do with it! Is it much larger as in square footage than your house in CT?
Love it! I am all about those MCM vibes. Can I ask what area of Utah. We have been playing with ideas of relocating and That area looks amazing!
I am so excited for you and your family to not only move to a “new” home, but be close to family! I’m really looking forward to seeing your renovations at the ranch house! My husband and I bought an early 80’s Spanish style home about 9 years ago and did a massive remodel. Smart decision to not live in it during the construction…we lived in our house and it was quite an experience (42 weeks). Congrats!
Good Luck! I have been following you for over 2 years on Instagram! My first time checking out the blog! All the best getting back to family!
What an awesome project! I love the stone and wood and Mountain View’s! I’m excited to see what you do with it.
I definitely see the diamond in the rough!! I can’t wait to see what y’all do to make it perfect for your family.
I absolutely see the amazing potential for this space what a gem this will be and to be close to family how wonderful cannot wait to see the changes y’all will make on this project!!! Happy homecoming!!!😊
Omg I can definitely see the potential!! When I saw those wood vaulted ceiling’s 😍 i can not WAIT to see how cozy you make this home! Congratulations ❤️
I can see why you fell in love and can’t wait to see your transformation! It is a beautiful home with so much character!
This house has great bones! I cannot wait to see what you do with it. I love every single thing y’all have done to your current house. Congratulations! So fun!
Wow!!! You have quite the project to tackle but from what I have seen since following you in Instagram, etc. I know you and Kevin will
make this a stunning masterpiece!! So happy that you will be near family – so important if you are able to do that. Best wishes for this
new adventure Brooke.
I can’t wait to see what you do with it! We bought a 1961 ranch in December 2019 and have loved fixing it up! I can totally relate to your house, the wood beamed ceilings are what made me fall in love with it. The yellow shutters, peach hallways and blue floor to ceiling tile not so much… I remember my husban’s face when I declared “this is the one”. He thought I was nuts, but now he loves it! Still have to tackle those bathrooms, but paint did wonders! 🙂
I am so excited to see what you do with this home! After my husband and I were both laid off during Covid, we moved back to be near family in California. We are thankful that after a really hard year, my husband has recently found a new job but the challenge is that homes are so very expensive here! We are currently living with my parents as we hope and pray to be able to buy a home of our own again. (We had to sell our very first home after only a year of owning it once we were laid off.) The homes in this area of CA that we might hope to afford all seem to be from the 60’s and have not been updated since! It has been discouraging, but I am looking forward to great ideas and inspiration as I watch how you turn this house into a beautiful home!
This looks like the kind of house I would buy. The key is to find a grandma house. They usually have a good roof, newer water heater, and the ugliest old carpet and wallpaper that scare everyone else away. I am so very happy for you and your family. You work so hard and I think we all love seeing the beautiful fruits of that work.
Your house was built the year I was married, 1979, and like our marriage it has.stood the test of time and occasionally needs a new perspective to make it shine. I’ll really be looking forward to seeing the transformation!
I am so excited to see what you do to this home. I cant wait to follow along as you and Kevin remodel and make it yours. Congratulations!!
Congratulations! This house has such good bones❤️ I can’t wait to follow along and see what you do with it!
How awesome is the next nest. Looking forward to the process. Being near family is the best. Enjoy the remodel. happy Thursday
What a great house! I can’t wait to see you work your way through it! Congratulations 😍
SO MUCH POTENTIAL! I can’t WAIT to see what you do with it Brooke! Congratulations to you and your family. Happy and excited for you! X
Great bones, can’t wait to see what you will do with it. The bathrooms are interesting .. no mirrors 🤷🏻♀️ And the one with the hose must have been for hair washing? 🤔 classic stuff. Congrats on your house! Thanks for letting us watch you and talented husband. I’ll miss your adorable house.. but I know you’ll do wonders with this home. Can’t wait!!
there were mirrors- I think they did an estate sale when they moved out.
Amazing!!! Looking forward to see all the amazing things you will do in your new home, and all the inspiration we will get too :). All the best wishes and energy during the move, there’s no place like home.
I absolutely love it! Congratulations on the move. Darn it I been following you for about 3 yrs and not once did I get a chance to meet you since I live in CT as well, and live in a 1960s home which little by little bringing its charm back. Now that you’ll be so far away fixing that gem I cannot wait until you start fixing it and making it shine.
I hope that being in your new home brings you tons of happiness and memories galore.
The email for your newsletter says there is a moving printable but I can’t find it.
Oh sorry- I meant that declutter graphic! I should do a moving printable too!
Love it and it has so much potential the outside is just beautiful!
I can’t wait to see you make it home!
Congratulation!!! Lots to love about this 70’s WALLPAPER HOUSE…. especially for talented DIYers like you and Kevin!! Can’t wait to see what you do! Will you live in it right away, or stay with family for some of the early reno?
So excited for you all! Love the charm and sounds like the perfect location! Can’t wait to follow along as you put your stamp on it!!
I get so excited when I hear of people buying and fixing up a 60’s or 70’s ranch! So many great bones to work with. Like the angles in the vaulted room. I can’t wait to see what you do with it and how you make it home!
Congrats! This home is beautiful and has plenty of potential. I can’t wait to see your updates as you transform this home into your home.
So charming!! I can see from both the outside and inside that it’s a jewel for sure!
My grandmother had bright blue carpet in every room of her house when I was a kid. I truly miss it as she’s been gone for 20 years, and have considered a shag type bright blue rug in my office if I can make it work, just for the memory! So all this to say – that green carpet had my wife eyes thinking, “you can make it work! Keep it!” Hahahah
This has the feel of the home my husband and I just bought and are currently in the remodeling phase. Like your previous owner, our previous owner was a masonry so there is brick inside and outside the home. And they had a rock wall water fountain inside the home…yes inside! How the floor didn’t fall out from underneath it is beyond me. Happy remodeling! Looking forward to seeing what all you come up with!
I love it! What an amazing blank slate for creativity!!!
I’m so excited to watch the transformation!
You had me at the wooden ceiling and the gorgeous exterior! From the outside it definitely feels like home… Congratulations!
So excited to see this transformation. I love the comfort of home feeling that living room already has! Swooning over the ceiling and the driveway! Wow! Congrats
Love the new place! Can’t wait to see how you change it! I’ve never had a parking spot…let alone a garage in Brooklyn, NY but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Every situation has its challenges.
So awesome! It’s picture perfect and your touch on this house I cant wait to see!!
Oh Finn is really going to love that green room! 🤣😂🤣😂 I can’t wait to see you work your magic in that house! Congratulations and Vaya Con Dios!
But there isn’t a terrain in Utah!!!!!!!
ha! Cactus and Tropical will have to do 🙂
I LOVE it! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
What incredible potential. You will do wonders with this place together. Then it will be truly yours!
Wishing you all the best in your new endeavor.
Your new residence will become a beautiful, updated family home with all of your vision and talent! You’ll need to update your bio on your blog from being a Connecticut transplant! I’m sure your family and friends in Utah are very excited to have you and your family nearby, once again!
I’m so excited to see what changes you guys make to this home. You and your husband truly are inspiring!
I think this house is great! I can totally see why you fell for it. It’s gonna beautiful!
Your front room looks like mine! Can’t wait to see what you do with it. I need good ideas!!! Best wishes!
That vaulted room!!! Oh this is going to be soooo goood!!! Can not wait!!
Love it, I see all the potential! My parents have the same stone on their sunken family room fireplace. I am anxious to see what you do with it. 🙂
How exciting! Congratulations! I am seeing the charm and potential…the whole property is lovely! Cannot wait to follow along and so happy for you guys to be closer to your family.
I’m new to following your blog, but I’ve followed your Insta account for a while now. I’m so incredibly excited to see what you, Kevin and the family can do with this new home. I can see the potential, and all of those windows, especially in the front room – WOW. Excited for this new journey for y’all! As y’all are traveling across country in the “RV Nest” (ha!) make a stop in Memphis, and I’ll bring y’all some sweet tea. 🙂
Excited to see this reno-journey!
I totally see the potential. This is going to be so fun to watch!!! Congratulations on the move!
I love your new house and I can not wait to see what it will look like when you are finished.
The CHARM and character of both inside and outside of this home is so exciting! Knowing what you’ve already accomplished in your current home, (HOW does it even get any better? And yet I know it will be.) I have this overwhelming joy to see this journey, and am SO happy and thankful that you share it with us all.
Congratulations!!!
Xoxoxoxo
I sure admire you and others that can see “potential” and can visualize it in a completely new way. I know you two will make this home beautiful for your family and sure look forward to following along. I think moving I be closer to family is a blessing for everyone 😊
This is like learning there’s a sequel to your favorite movie. I’m excited to see what you do. As a Realtor, I’ve used your pictures to show homeowners how to envision the use of space, and love everything you do!
Oh my goodness Brooke!! This house is amazing!! I am so excited to see what you guys do to update it and make it your own. I am sure there will be no shortage of NEW wallpaper in this home.
I’m envisioning one of the garages being a workshop for you and Kevin.
And I love that you already have a spot for the NEST.
I bet it’s bittersweet to be leaving a home you have loved so dearly, but how wonderful that you’re returning home and get to be so close to your family again.
Can’t wait to see what the future holds for your fam and the “wallpaper house”.
SOOOOO much potential!!!! I can’t wait to watch you transform this place. That wood ceiling is gorgeous. The front room is so much like mine – I’ve struggled with it for years so I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I love that you are transforming a home that I can relate to rather than some of the mega mansions all over instagram. Excited for your family!
I am really excited to see how you transform this house!! Congrats on the new house and the move back to your home state!
What a great house, I can see so much potential! I think this could make your blog double in size as you re-do this jewel! You guys are at a perfect age to do this and have so much fun doing it!
Congratulations on this big, exciting transition in you and your family’s life! I can hardly wait to see how you beautifully transform your new home. Thank you for taking us all along!
You can see the quality of workmanship and style and character! Never goes out of style- the bones!
Very excited for you all, thanks for taking us along!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! This is all so exciting for your family! And I’m sure your Utah family are all looking forward to having you closer!! And WE will anxiously await to see how you put your beautiful touch on this new home!!
Oh my goodness I love it! The house, the setting! It’s going to be great! Can’t wait to see it all take shape! Congrats!
Love it, Brooke! I especially love the outside and the red detail on the windows. So cute!! It looks like a mountain retreat. The vaulted ceiling in the den is amazing. Can’t wait to see what you all do with it.
Wow, niceeee. All I can say, take your time, and do it one room at a time. I know the end results will be fantastic. I and busting with excitement to see the end results of each room
Thanks for sharing.
This is going to be absolutely incredible- has such good bones! Enjoy the process. Thanks for letting us follow along!
This house is an incredible time capsule! You can tell they really threw down on the decor of the day and were committed to it for decades. Love the architecture with all the rock and wood. I’m sure you will be able to update it and still honor the original charm. 💜
Wow! Lots of space! Utah is beautiful (my son lives in Spanish Fork with his family ) and we love to drive from California to visit..
I’m excited for you to be close to family’ 😁
Can’t wait for you to walk us through your journeys.
P.S someday I will make it to the lavender fields!
I love the new house – – the ceiling! the stonework! looks well built and I love all mature trees surrounding it – you made a great move. We have a ranch too with great bones surrounded by mature trees in Fairfield – so I can’t wait to see what you do with yours. The best to you in Utah!
I’m LOVING it! We bought a 70’s Ranch in February of 2018 and it was still in the 70’s. The wallpaper (think metallic gold huge goldfish in the Master bath), the colored carpet in every room with matching custom drapes. Everyone we showed pictures to had the same eyes as your husband, but we could just see it from the minute we walked in. It’s been a constant work in progress doing it all ourselves but everytime we check something off the list I swell with more love for our home. Our friends don’t think we’re as crazy as we once were now but we still laugh about it. So excited to see what you do with your new place!
So excited for your newest adventure! Love your style and can’t wait to see what you do with this home!
Can’t wait to see what you do in your new home. Excited to see all those light tricks. 🥰
Congratulations! That house has such great bones! Oh the possibilities!!!
This house is going to be beautiful! I started following you when my fiance and I bought a fixer upper split-level this past fall and I have loved keeping up with all your how-to’s, hacks, and nesting knowledge. I have become all too invested and now think I need to wallpaper every wall in our new (old) also 1970’s house. 😉
Ooooh girl!! You’ve got your work cut out for you!! Best wishes with your move and all that wallpaper/carpet/outdated goodness!
I think it’s great for you and your family and the land looks beautiful. I doubt that many are surprised that you are moving back. I’ve never been to Utah, or known anyone from there, so it will be interesting to follow. We recently moved (downsized a little) and the location and yard were most important because I knew I could update the house. I will say that one of the things that really appealed to me about your blog was your focus on smaller home living and I will miss that.
The outside architecture of the home reminds me of the home from the movie the Godfather part 3. The potential for this home is unlimited. I was making changes in my mind as I went through the photos. It’s what I do organize, stage, decorate. I can’t wait to see what you will do with it.
Now I’m hoping someday you’ll make it down to Spanish Fork to makeover a room for someone you’ve never met. Ha! I found your Instagram account four years ago when my family and I’d just moved to Utah. I’m looking forward to following your “new” home adventure and continued inspiration. As a side note, is there a petition we can all sign to ban real estate photos? I’ve never liked the way they make homes look so fake. I much prefer your beautiful photos. I’m glad your house sold so quickly.
We have a big 70s stone fireplace that was that same ugly brown stone that you have all over the “new” house. We white washed it with 1 part white chalk paint and 3 parts water – 2 coats. It kept the character of the stone better than painting it white, and now it’s our favorite thing in our home!! We get compliments on it all the time! So charming & cozy!!
I am SO beyond excited for your guys!! Been following you for years and loved your Cape Cod, but I LOVE many of the features of this house. I can completely see why you bought it!! I can’t wait to see what you guys are going to do here!!
