From White to Moody & Cozy: Primary Bedroom Makeover with My New Nesting With Grace x Anthropologie Collection

Designing this space for our friends Heather and Josh felt extra special! Especially getting to use my new Nesting With Grace x Anthropologie Collection throughout her room. Their bedroom is incredibly spacious with bright white walls, and the goal was to bring in warmth, coziness, and layered color.

Primary Bedroom Before

When Heather was getting ready to update her room with new carpet, she asked me what color she should paint the space. She was ready for a change, and I immediately offered to help… and turn it into a full makeover!

By adding architectural detail, a moody paint color, and thoughtfully mixed patterns and textures, the room feels warmer, more inviting, and completely transformed.

Setting the Mood with Color

We started by adding trim work to elevate the architecture and mirroring the ceiling. Once the trim was complete, we painted the entire room in Amsterdam by Benjamin Moore. A beautiful, moody blue. It completely transformed the space and created the perfect rich backdrop to build from.

Designing Around the Bed

We planned the entire room around her bed, making it the focal point. The bed is large with dark, traditional wood, so we leaned into that classic feel. Woven Leather Ottoman at the foot of the bed.

Above it, we hung mushroom artwork paired with a pretty fringe wall sconce for a soft, elevated touch.

Layered Bedding with the Collection

For bedding, we used my new organic cotton sheets in a soft floral print. They are incredibly cozy, and the colors make layering effortless!

We added a purple berry gingham duvet cover and finished the look with lots of texture: floral ruffle-edge shams from the collection, purple berry gingham pillow shams, and yellow gingham euros. The mix feels collected, warm, and perfectly balanced.

Matching Nightstands

We placed matching dressers on either side of the bed, topped with coordinating lamps and my new collection of lampshades. These symmetrical elements help ground the room and make it feel intentional and polished.

Grounding the Room

Under the bed, a deep dark green rug anchors the space and adds richness. Love this Rattan Urn planter!

We also brought in a full-length gold mirror and a leather chair to introduce a slightly masculine contrast to all the softness.

The same fabric in full-length curtains frames the iron doors, hung with this gold rod, adding softness and continuity across the room.

A Cozy Sitting Area by the Window

Because the room is so large, we were able to create a second moment. A cozy sitting area by the window. On the bay windows, we used matching Nesting With Grace floral café curtains. They let in the most beautiful light while still offering privacy.

We layered in a light blue floral rug, a tall wood chair with sherpa cushions, and a wood table with a marble top that ties in the warm brown tones throughout the room. A blue lamp with fringe (same as above the bed) completes the space.

Timeless Statement Pieces

The wood armoire is such a beautiful, timeless piece that anchors the space and adds to the overall collected feel of the room. The new chandelier is such a showstopper, adding that perfect layer of warmth and elevating the room with its striking presence.

I love how this room now feels layered, cozy, and full of depth. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to slow down and stay tucked in just a little longer. Getting to design this for someone I love, and incorporate my collection into such a meaningful space, made it all the more special.
