A Fun Update in Our Drink Room (And My New Favorite Finds!)

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I have a soft spot for a space that’s both pretty and practical. Our drink room has always been a fun little extension of our home, but we recently made an update that completely transformed it! Adding the perfect spot for all the beautiful, everyday essentials. And I LOVE it.

The Plate & Cup Wall

We added a wall specifically for plates and cups, and I truly can’t believe the difference it made. What used to feel like a blank or underutilized space is now full of color, texture, and personality.

Not only does it look beautiful, but it’s incredibly functional. The shelves hold our serving plates, favorite mugs, and the prettiest cups! All within easy reach. It feels intentional, styled, and lived-in all at the same time.

There’s something about open storage that makes you want to keep things tidy. When everything has a home, it just works better.

Pretty and Practical

You know how much I love finding the cutest version of something so it can double as decor. If I’m going to use it every day, I want it to be beautiful too.

That’s how I feel about our cutting boards, serving trays, and kitchen staples. Instead of hiding them in a drawer, we’re displaying them. The wood tones, the shapes, the pops of color, they’ve basically become wall art.

And the best part? We actually use them.

New Finds I’m Loving

I’ve added a few new pieces that make the space feel even more finished. I swapped out the baskets on our shelves. The old ones were fun and colorful, but I didn’t want them competing with the new plate wall that’s now full of color. These updated baskets are more neutral, super sturdy, and let the shelves really shine.

I also changed out the lighting and I’m so glad I did. The large black and white gingham lampshade ceiling light makes such a statement.

The new accordian wall sconce adds the perfect extra layer of lighting. It feels cozy but elevated. (Ps- I used this cord cover)

We added new colorful floral rugs for even more warmth underfoot.

Plus unique, colorful cups that bring personality to the shelves.

We added a beautiful new painted artwork that adds the perfect pop of color and ties the whole space together.

And of course, cute containers for drink mixes, syrups and extras because if we’re going to use them every day, they might as well be adorable.

Nothing overly complicated, just thoughtful pieces that make the space feel joyful.

Why I Love a Dedicated Drink Space

Having a separate drink room keeps our kitchen counters less cluttered and gives us a spot that feels a little playful. It’s where we make morning hot chocolate, afternoon electrolytes, fun weekend mocktails, and everything in between. It’s functional, but it’s also fun. I’m also loving this new pink bar cart. It adds extra storage and is such a fun nod to the drink room just around the corner. The pop of color makes the whole space feel even more playful.

And honestly? That’s what I want our home to feel like…lived in, useful, colorful, and full of little things that make everyday life feel special.

If you love a space that works hard but still looks cute doing it, this update might inspire you to rethink a blank wall in your own kitchen.
