My kids are BIG fans of hot chocolate! We like to make our hot chocolate from scratch rather than a packet, it just tastes better! We use milk when we make hot chocolate instead of water, and we think the easiest way to make hot chocolate is with a milk steamer (you can make this recipe on the stove in a pan). Our hot chocolate recipe can also be made in a crockpot or on the stove. I am sharing how my kids LOVE to make hot chocolate with chocolate chips! Also sharing our favorite milk steamer. By the way, do you call it hot chocolate or hot cocoa?? I feel like since we use actual chocolate chips rather than cocoa powder it warrants the name hot chocolate!

Ingredients
Method
- Stove Top- Add all ingredients to a pan on the stove (based on how much your pot can hold, and how many you want to serve) heat over medium and stir constantly so it doesn't burn. Make sure not to bring to a boil.
- Crockpot- Pour all ingredients into the crockpot, based on how much your crockpot can hold and how many you want to serve. The recipe is one serving, so you will need to figure out how many cups your crockpot can hold. In my crockpot it can make 14 cups of hot chocolate. It takes about an hour on high to melt all the chocolate, and about another hour to make the hot chocolate nice and hot. I open the lid and stir with a whisk every so often. After two hours on high, I turn it down to low and let it stay warm through the party!
- Steamer- Add all ingredients right into the milk steamer and tap the button for hot milk, depending on how hot your steamer gets you might have to cycle it through twice to melt the chocolate chips. My SMEG Frother I just cycle once and it stops once everything is melted (I tap the furthest button on the left, the hot chocolate setting). *Make sure to check serving size and that yours can hold 1 cup of milk.
- Pour in a mug and enjoy!
- Optional- top with marshmallows or marshmallow fluff!
