We are very thankful we have a covered front and back porch. That being said, both porches needed some finishing touches. The previous owners, did a great job and finished the ceiling with partial board. We decided to go a step further and add cedar paneling to both the front and back porch. We felt it would pull in the rock on the home and really complete the look. I will say I am appreciating the rock more and more.
Front Porch Before and After

We love how it turned out! I shared this front porch space before (here), I haven’t shared how we added the cedar wood and also what the back porch looks like with the same tongue and groove cedar.

- Ordered 1’x6′ inch tongue and groove cedar wood (we ordered from a local lumber supplier)

- Measure then cut each piece to size, we used a 10′ Miter Saw

- Nail each board to the ceiling, we used a Battery Operated Nailer

- The cedar wood felt too yellow, so we brushed on our favorite White Wash Pickling. We wiped off any areas that the white wash was too heavy, you have time to manipulate it.

You can see the raw cedar wood, vs the cedar wood with the White Wash Pickling.

Back Porch Before and After

Turned out so so pretty on our back patio!!! We are going to add black outdoor ceiling fans to the ceiling. As you can see there is still landscaping to finish in the back, but wanted to share what it looks like today.

And my dreams came true! We had the perfect spot for a hanging daybed!!! I am imagining lots of reading with the kids and Sunday naps out here.

The daybed came with chains to attach to the ceiling, instead of the chain, we used a Polypropylene rope (they cut it to size at the store), I just prefer the look. We used these brackets, that fit perfectly on the beam. Kevin drilled a pilot hole first, then used long lag screws.

I have more pillows to add to the seat, when I can get to my storage!

Of course added a few trees to the patio. LOVE this Ginkgo tree, found it at my local Cactus and Tropical, including the pot.

And this weeping cedar tree, just gorgeous.

I have a cement dining table that will go in this space too. Excited to share more of this space once the yard and house are done! The plan is to the yard finished before an event I am hosting here on September 20th. Wish us luck!
Can you please provide links to the daybed mattress and cover? Thanks!
What brackets or hooks did you attach to the swing for the rope?
