Gift giving is so much fun. Kids make Christmas so magical. Their excitement makes all the holiday madness worth it. This guide is for (mostly boys) different ages up to about ten. Most of the items we have or someone we know has, and really enjoys it. If you are looking at ideas on making gift-giving easier in your own home, I like the rule of: Want, Need, Wear, Read.
- I love to give my kids something to read every year: We have discovered some of our favorite books and series this way.
- I love to give them something that is need: how about an alarm clock? Have they started earning money? How about a wallet to keep their money in. How about new sheets for their bed?
- Something to wear: As kids get older, their want list and their wear list may morph into the same list! When they are younger, their need and their wear list may be similar. Either way, a cute new church dress, some shoes, or an outfit is fun to open up wear through the holiday break and beyond.
- I obviously like to give my kids something that they want, but I don’t love the idea of mile-long wish lists. Together, we talk about what would be a good gift that they would get use out of, etc. Based on what they talk about and what they are currently “in to,” we get them something/s they will be really excited about.(We don’t want to clutter our home with a bunch of toys, so we always apply the one in/one out rule at Christmas time especially!)
