Christmas in our Family Room- Fireplace Mantel, Christmas Tree and New Sofa

A few things to update you on in our family room! We are headed out of town for Thanksgiving and a soccer tournament, so my goal is to have the house decorated before we go. I find joy in decorating. The act of decorating. Decorating doesn’t have to mean buying new things, it could be using what you have, but in a new way. Hopefully this gives you ideas or inspires you as you start to decorate. Ready to see Christmas decor in our family room?

Christmas Tree-

I tried something new! Hung the ribbon and tinsel going down the tree instead of around it. Also first time using a Tinsel Garland (in gold). Love that extra shimmer, plus it gives off a vintage look. I have the same Christmas tree we did in our family room last year. It fits the narrow space perfectly. Unfortunately it is sold out, but I found this similar Christmas Tree.

Love that the big bulb string lights look like ornaments too! And these Disco Ball ornaments are just so pretty! I used them last year too, the color matches our new sofa….

Fireplace Mantel-

I repeated the color I used on the tree on the fireplace mantel. We have the wood tones, gold, green and blush in both spots.
Also, went with my classic layered garland look on our fireplace mantle. I mixed my favorite Cedar Garland with Mushroom Felt Garland and Globe String Lights. I used nails on the top of the mantel to keep it all in place, you don’t even see the holes when I take it down at the end of the season.

I have collected those trees over the years. Fun to find something to collect and remember where you found them or where you were living the year you got each one.

Our New Sofa-

I don’t know if you remember we had a cream sofa on the wall with the windows. While I liked the look of the cream sofa, I wanted something shorter in length and the back felt too low with the rest of the furniture. We moved the green sofa to the window wall, and do you see the new plum sofa???
I found this plum sofa online and to my joy, it was in-stock in this gorgeous color! I really like that it is a slipcover, easy to wash and also change up the look! Plus it is VERY comfortable.
Love this looped tree pillow, bought it in grey and it looks so pretty in here!
Puppies looks cozy! I added these plaid throws to the back of these sherpa chairs to balance out the green sofa. slippers // checkered pajamas

    Can’t wait to see all of your Christmas decor! Love the new ideas and the old ones too. FTR, I always hang my tree lights vertically, up and down, not around. They go on faster and I can tuck them in for lighting throughout the tree. I also hang ribbon garland vertically but don’t use tinsel garland…however, I love the way yours looks!
