Finally did something on the large open wall in our kitchen! We built a picture ledge for all our fun kitchen art! Why didn’t I do this sooner? This was my original plan when I designed the kitchen. I had even created a design plan with all the art I wanted to use on the picture ledge. Then when our kitchen was finished I just ended up putting the art all around the kitchen. Today we gathered it all together and made a simple picture ledge.

Kevin went to Home Depot and had them cut pieces of this maple wood to the size we wanted. They charge by the liner square foot and our Home Depot had it in 6′ length. We had them cut one board 2″x6′, another 3″x6′ and the last month 4″x6′. Total we spent about $30.

He just used a nail gun and attached the pieces together. Pretty simple.

Then we used screws and screwed right through the back into studs to hang it. The screws are exposed, (we will hide the screws with art), we wanted to be able to easily take the ledge off the wall when our new wallpaper comes for here!

Just used a rag to wipe on the Antique White Stain. Love the finish of this stain. We did stain it while the ledge was hanging on the wall so it could easily and quickly dry. The sooner I could see the art on the ledge the better!

Ta-da! Thanks for my picture ledge Kevin!

I wrote about the art on this blog post. Here are the direct links- Love Birds, Lime, Lemons, Oranges and Lady, and Strawberry Cake.

I found that cutting board when we went to Magnolia, and used it as a try to group accessories on the table. I did get the larger size cutting board too, it is leaning by our fiddle leaf fig. I moved this larger vase to our table and put battery operated candles inside.

Did you notice we changed out our cushions?! I actually had bought a black set and this green velvet at the same time. Since this banquette is custom built to match these specific cushions I thought it might be good to have a back-up set!

I love our kitchen and the new picture ledge! We all need a space that makes us happy, and I hope each of you create a space like that for you!

Your kitchen looks great! I’m wondering how the Urban Outfitters cushions are holding up for you. Read some mixed reviews about bad smells and lumpy cushions so just wanted to hear your take on them. Thanks for sharing!
They are holding up well! They are not smelly…. and they aren’t lumpy. Overtime if you don’t rotate them they could flatten more in one spot. But I flip them weekly.
Love your kitchen nook! I’ve been wondering where to find some prints like these! These are gorgeous by the way!
