I love a good theme, and book club is the perfect setting for it. Fall book club nights are some of my absolute favorites—there’s just something about the cozy, seasonal vibe. Majority of the time book club is a bowl of chips and salsa, with a book discussion. I went all out for our fall book club, it was our first book club with this group of girls, we used to gather years ago then I moved, and finally got it back together! There’s nothing better than being surrounded by friends, sharing stories—both real and fictional.

Step one? Finding the perfect book to build our theme around. I knew it had to give off all the fall and witchy vibes, and Weyward was exactly that! It weaves together the stories of women across generations. Everyone that read it enjoyed it, I listened to it on Audible and LOVED it! Each one connected by their deep, intuitive bond with nature. Once the book was picked, the rest was easy…cue all the moody, magical touches. Finding fun pieces to decorate with and bring the theme to life was honestly half the fun!

For the tablecloth, I actually used two shower curtains! My table is pretty long, and I knew I’d need extra coverage. Instead of sewing them together, I used fabric tape, super easy! I just folded over the side with the curtain hook slots to hide and then secured with the fabric tape. It worked perfectly and looked great!

I started by setting the place settings, always a good first step if you’re adding table decor, so you can see how much space you actually have (and avoid overdoing it!). We laid down the scalloped dinner plates first, added the pink acorn dessert plates on top, and finished it off with scalloped checkered napkins and gold flatware for a warm touch. My favorite cups placed at the top of every setting.

Spiders scattered along the table, a deck of playing cards illustrated with toads, candles flickering softly, and tiny brooms set the mood perfectly. Add in spider-shaped taper candles and a Halloween glass candle lamp, and your table is instantly transformed into a creepy, cozy haunt.

I love making (and eating!) a good charcuterie board. For this one, I stuck with the table’s color palette, green and purple with lots of beautiful fruits and veggies. Everything, including the crackers, cheese and meats are from Trader Joe’s. Everyone’s favorite was their garlic dip and spread. I arranged everything on this oversized Lazy Susan (more options HERE), but really, any board or platter works! I also like to add small bowls to break up the layout and hold dips or loose snacks. It makes the board feel more dynamic and easier to snack from! But the real MVP are these beeswax candles- fig, plum and acorn!

I absolutely love planning food and drinks to match the book whenever I can. In Weyward, one of the characters offers her brother her share of custard for the week if he keeps a secret for her. So naturally, we had to make blackberry custard, our own little take on the scene, and let me tell you, it was yummy!

The sandwiches were an easy make-ahead option. Baguette slices filled with brie, prosciutto, onion jam, and arugula, all wrapped up in parchment paper and tied with twine for a thoughtful touch.

For the decor, I paired it with matching vases filled with stunning arrangements from here. I simply brought in my vases, shared an inspiration photo, and they absolutely nailed the look!

I love an autumnal theme but I literally couldn’t spend time in that room because of the insects on the table. Might be worth a double check if your friends have phobias!
