I love a simple, easy table setting. A table setting with pieces that I already have, all mixed together to create a place everyone feels comfortable and special to be at our table. This table setting actually reminds me of my mom. She always clips sunflowers from the yard and has them on the table in vases she found at second hand stores. I know she influenced me on how I decorate today and for sure influenced the “use what you have” way of thinking. She is about focusing on connecting and loving on her guests than fussing over a big fancy table. She is the most caring person and the way she decorates shows that too. Hopefully this simple fall table setting will give you ideas to use what you have and focus on what is important.
Remember these flowers my hubby brought me on our anniversary? Well they were my inspiration to set the table for a fun, causal night on our deck. I clipped them and yep, filled them in little glass vases and spread them all over the table.
When I serve dinner in the Fall to a large group, I go easy and do a soup or my Paleo Pumpkin Chili. All about making ahead! I layered a white bowl over my mom’s china that she has been bringing me in small doses in her suitcase when she comes to visit. It is a little surprise every time she comes.
I mixed my black and white buffalo check napkins to give the china a casual feel and bring in our black and white painted deck. I layered the white dish towels from Everyday Occasions for a pop of white and another layer over the gold charges I have had (found at Good Will).
The white table runner down the center pulls it all together and gives a nice base to the center florals and pumpkins. (I will be sharing that amazing delicious Paleo Pumpkin Crunch Cake soon!).
For dinner outside and when I set the table I loved the idea of adding a nice scarf blanket at each chair. It is another way to tie in all the colors, softens the look and adds a little extra touch your guests won’t forget…another way to care for your guests. These would also make a great party favor. (This is the same blanket scarf I tied to our front door wreath, they are from Everyday Occasions too).
One of the small glass second hand vases would make a great party favor as well or a mini pumpkin!
I created some height with different size pumpkins sitting on cake pedestals. I did still keep it low, I don’t like to have to remove the center piece when everyone sits down to eat.
Candles, twinkle lights and our favorite Fire-Pit really sets the mood. Don’t you think?
If you missed our Deck Reveal from last week you can find it HERE along with all the sources for the deck!
