I thought I would share some favorites from the week, since it has been a big week!!! Hopefully everyone is staying well and cozy at home. Praying for peace and wellness for all of you. It is a hard scary time right now and I know it isn’t easy for many. We are taking all the vitamins, making healthy smoothies, washing our hands and using all our Thieves. Trying to do our best to support our wellness. Maybe my post will be a nice distraction from the news. We had workers installing our backsplash today and putting our cabinet hardware on all our cabinets. And remember from my last post I was unsure of our rug? Well….we got option #2 in and I LOVE it so much!!!!
New Living Room Rug-
This rug is super affordable! I love the darker background too, especially because this is a high traffic area. Love the green color to pull in my plants 🙂 and it does have a little touch of pink/ rusty pink. Find the rug HERE. And since this is a thinner rug I ordered THIS felt rug pad. A rug pad adds some cushion, protects the floor and helps to keep the rug in place. Typically ordering 2″ smaller on each side than your rug is a good size for the pad. For myself I did a 7’6″ x9’10” rug and a 7’x9′ rug pad.
Kitchen Cabinet Hardware-
Our kitchen cabinet hardware got installed today. I have to say picking hardware for a larger kitchen vs our previous small kitchen was a little tricky! So I ended up mixing it up and making it easy! I actually REALLY love gold hardware, but wasn’t loving it with the wood cabinets we have. So I went with black. Here are the links to my hardware- Star // Round Knobs // Latch // Bin Pull. Stay tuned hopefully soon for a full reveal.
Kitchen Appliances-
I have gotten a lot of questions about what appliances we went with. We went with Big Chill Appliances. So far we are very happy with the choice! More photos to come. The dishwasher was installed today!! But we need the electrician to come and hook it up.
Wondering what happened to our old appliances? I offered them free to the first person to reply on my Instagram. We had A LOT of locals who would have been happy to take them. You will be happy to know they went to a newly married couple who both work for schools. Picture above are our appliances in their home. It made me tear up when she sent the photo of them. Love that they can now bless someone else, just how they blessed us.
And we got our quartz countertops in! Feels so much bigger. We can put everything in our cabinets now. Yay!! PS- our floors are getting sanded and stained after everything is done. We tested the floor color in our master closet- see photo below! I will share details soon of the sanding, stain process we went with.

Looking for things to do at home?
- You might like Jessica Simpsons new book, I really enjoyed it. It was a really good reminder to not judge others, to have empathy. You never know what someone is going through. Assume the best.
- Listen to Atomic Habits, such a great book about forming habits and the importance of habits. His personal story was a great example.
- Make a bunch of paleo waffles and freeze them for a quick healthy breakfast!! My kids like helping with that!
- Create a chore chart for the kids if their school is closed, keep them busy!
- Our favorite thing to make often it toxic-free bath bombs, we all use them for bathing.
- Our Home School Schedule for the next couple weeks- Print the PDF Home School Schedule HERE and I have a blank one HERE
I am so obsessed with every choice you have made for your kitchen. It is all so beautiful! Those floors though!! The biggest heart eyes for the floors.
Hi Brooke,
I am so excited for you and the progress you have made on your home renovation. Love all your finishes and you have inspired me to use the same in my own kitchen renovation. I I love everything you are doing! I especially love the floor, quartz and the plank ceiling! Will you please share the name of the quartz and the finish/color stain of your floor? Did you use shiplap or planks to achieve that look. Thank you for all you do! I don’t know what I would do without your blog.
Love,
Zee
Thank you so much!!! I will find out the name and color of the counters. I just walked in and picked it because it was a sample on their floor. And yes it is shiplap planks. I will find out exactly that info. Lots asking about it too- stay tuned for a post soon on all that.
Yes, love everything! We are looking at quartz countertops also would love to know the name of the one you picked and where you got it from
Loved the Homeschool Schedule! Thank you so much! This will keep my sanity…I hope! Much love and health to you and fam in the coming weeks! 😀
Thank YOU so much for posting the homeschool chart example. I am a Middle School paraprofessional and our last day with our students was yesterday. This will be a new normal for now and structure and routine will be so crucial for kids, and adults.
I absolutely love your rug! It fits beautifully with your velvet curtains. I tried clicking on the link to find the rug but unfortunately, I cannot access it, maybe it’s because I live in Canada. Do you mind sharing the name of the rug so I can maybe find it here ?
Oh shoot! You could try this link- https://rstyle.me/+pypVO8_8Pwhklw6GvEwEDQ
It is called- RIVKA RUG, SEA AND RUST from Loloi Rugs
I LOVE the backsplash! The mix! The floor! The waterfall island! THE APPLIANCES! And then I saw my favorite thing which topped all of these loves: your previous appliance giveaway. 😭 A beautiful heart of generosity tops all other beauty. Thank you for modeling the gorgeousness that ranks highest, lovely Brooke. Good taste? ✅ Yes. Great example? ✅ ✅ ✅ Yes, yes, YES!
thank you so much!!! You are so kind!!!
Hi Brooke –
I just wanted to say, I’m feeling emotional today about everything going on in the world. I decided to go off social media for lent and it’s done me a world of good, however I do miss certain things about it. One of them being your posts. You are like a ray of light and all things good amongst a sea of negativity and bad news. I’m so glad I can keep up with you through your blogs. Love your new rug, the fact that you blessed that couple with your old appliances and the way your kitchen is coming along! I also love the home school chart you made – I’m in SC and they haven’t closed schools yet for us, but I will definitely be using it if they do. Sending you much love and appreciation today!!
Question for you… is this just printed on the top or is it actually woven? I thought I found a great dupe on overstock but it’s the pattern printed on the top 😬. Trying to figure out if that’s what yours is as well??
it is just printed- I was surprised by that too. But ended up liking it.
