How are you doing? We are staying at an extended stay, a short walk from our home. Our contractor is still working, so we decided to move out so they could come in and work without us being there. Paint, do the trim, refinish our floors (the floors take like 3-4 days) and a bunch of other things! We have actually been out of our house for 9 days and it looks like it will end up being 16 days, hopefully in by next weekend. The place we are staying has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, mini kitchen and table. Not bad. But not Bahamas like where we were supposed to be for Spring Break. We know that others are going through a lot of hard things right now and we are praying for everyone. We wanted to share an update from the week!
First of all we hope you had a lovely Easter. We stopped by out house and took our annual picture on our front porch!
We did a little Easter egg hunt in front of our house and had a little church service with our family. It was very different than normal, but very lovely.

Our master bathroom is coming along-
The floor tile we wanted was back ordered- so we created it by popping out the white mosaic tile and putting in black mosaic tile to create a flower pattern. It isn’t something I recommend- it was a lot of work! Just buy the tile HERE 🙂 Our light fixture is this one (it is the smaller one- which I am swapping with our hall bath and putting the larger one in here). Next our clawfoot tub is coming in, once floor is done and our vanity too!
Upstairs update-
If you remember the upstairs we had a chimney for the old furnace. Well, they took that out to make more space for our kitchen banquette. This room is right above our kitchen, so they had to start at the top and remove it to the basement. We were actually on the fence if we were going to frame back in the old chimney and leave it for our window seat (you can see what it was HERE). But instead we pushed the wall flush and added vertical shiplap to add some much-needed height! I really love how it turned out. We now cane fit two comfy chairs over on that wall! We are thinking of just painting the shiplap in a bright white- Sherwin Williams Pure White. What do you think?
Paint Update-
We are painting all our walls in Benjamin Moore Cloud White….they WERE Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover. You can see the color difference in the photo below. Also our trim and ceilings are Pure White from Sherwin Williams.
Our Magazine Feature came out!!!!
If you have been following me since August last year you saw when Better Homes and Gardens came to our home to take pictures for their magazine. It was such a neat experience. I wrote a blog post about the behind the scenes and how the magazine came about HERE. It is a 10 page feature of our home! So nice to have it photographed before our remodel. The magazine editor said- “the team picked the banquette shot and they are doing a split cover run; so some areas of the country will feature the cover with you on it 🙂 and some will see a cover with flowers as more of the focal point but still the same angle of the banquette. And your readers can find the magazine at most grocery stores and online here.” *** Update- Online Newsstand that will deliver the magazine to your door for free HERE
Late night shopping-
Kitchen/ Dining Space- I ended up finally deciding on dining chairs for our kitchen. I was having a hard time making up my mind, and that typically means it is because I haven’t found the “one” yet! Until last night! As soon as I saw THESE pink chairs I was like YES!!!! Done. Our dining table is this cement top table. It helped me so much to create a design board to decide on the chairs. I am also going to keep the pillows simple and stack them, so the jute will be in back and the buffalo check in the front in five different spots on the banquette. The banquette is really deep so you do need two pillows behind you (that was intentional).
Master Bedroom- And we did end up getting a new bed for our master. I have wanted one that is more flush to the wall and takes up less space- more streamlined. We needed a new dresser and that kind-of snowballed the whole thing. We might hang onto our old bed and give it away in a local makeover. Below is a quick plan I did to see how everything would work together. We are painting the walls in tricorn black (flat finish).

What we are watching-
Also looking for something to watch this weekend? My friend lives on a farm and they had a chick hatch last week, it was so cool to watch on their LIVE camera!! We just put it on our TV and watched as the chick was born!! Now they have ducks and more chicks waiting to hatch! One of the ducks already has a little crack. Watch the LIVE feed HERE.
Everything looks beautiful!!! I didn’t know you were getting a new bed! It obviously looks beautiful but your previous bed is like my dream bed! Everyone flows and looks beautiful and is always nice to have changes in our room that makes us goes to sleep even more content.
Great update! Looks like things are moving along smoothly. Did you read the reviews of your dresser? Looks lovely but I have nightstands with drawers that only open halfway like the reviews of your dresser and it’s super annoying.
I did read that…..I decided to try it 😬 hope it doesn’t bother me! I had the hardest time finding a dresser I liked!!
Congrats on the magazine! I have followed you for awhile mainly because you have such a distinct style that I find simply put, beautiful, but most importantly it remains cozy! Now that is a gift. No one else does it like you! I have a question, did you use Pure White as the trim color with Cloud Cover too? Am thinking of trying Cloud Cover in a bathroom. Thanks!
Congratulations Brooke. It’s beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing these live stream links. We’ve loved watching!
Hi, can you please tell me the brand and name of the pink paint you used on the door. I love it!!
Hi! I have a blog post here- https://nestingwithgrace.com/painted-front-door-tips-and-our-new-pink-door/
I went to the Zinio site to buy the BH&G Small Spaces magazine, but it was not showing (unless I missed it).
you know I can’t find it either!!! I emailed and asked them….
Oh, I thought it was just me! I ended up with the May Issue. It’s a great issue, but I wanted the one with you and your family. Maybe I can find it the next time I go grocery shopping.
